There is a sort of prediction that Callum might upset Canelo this fight,

https://www.oddschecker.com/us/insight/boxing/boxing/20201118-canelo-vs-smith-odds-bettors-believe-callum-smith-can-upset-canelo-alvarez

Might this will be successful revenge or just a failure. Doubted that Smith can do this, we know Canelo, a heavy puncher, it close to realize that this might just a shit talk from gamblers to create some hypes.

I will still pick Canelo, no changes.

This is Canelo's weight class so I doubt that there will like Lopez-Loma upset here.

I've check one sports book, the odds are not yet there, but I will echo the sentiments that Canelo will be the favorite. No offense to Callum, he is good but not in the level of Canelo. Next for Canelo should be Billy Joe Saunders and then Caleb Plant to unify and clean up the division, oh wait, GGG is still in the background.  Smiley

Callum Smith is good with his left hook and straight but can can he connect that big left hook and straight punch, knowing that Canelo is very intimitating with his jab and right cross, I'll go for Canelo he has fought a lot of great fighters and conquered all of them Callum will just become another feather in his cap, I still love to see trilogy with GGG, many of us do.

Canelo has the upper hand wherein he is stronger and more favorite player by a lot of crowds, my chicken will be Canelo because of his counter punching and there was a popular title where he considered as the king of counter punching. Canelo moves is so smooth and I do not think that Smith can beat Canelo even though that past performance of Callum smith is so good wherein he knockout a lot of his opponents. Watch the highlights of Canelo Alvarez and you can see the he has the upper hand wherein there is a high chance that he can win the fight. I'm excited to see the fight and I will probably watch it and avail pay per view because I want to make a bet and I love to see the match live for me to become more intense watching it.

Canelo's jab won't be effective I would say because he is facing a taller and lengthier guy. So if ever he jabs he will be counter all day with left hook from Smith. It's just the matter of Callum having a good timing to caught Canelo coming in with his jab. Of course, Canelo's experience will still prevail although he is at a disadvantage because Canelo not only has the tools but better ring IQ. I would love to see the trilogy as well with GGG I think this is the only worthy fight for Canelo as this point.

Even if his opponent has some edge in some aspect of the game but since his IQ is high, I think Canelo would still find a way to win, he is a warrior and he is not afraid to fight toe to toe with any opponent and I respect him for fighter GGG despite of the controversial result.

You are not the only one a trilogy for these two warriors will bring a lot of money to the fight.

I know Canelo is a fan favorite, and probably considered a legend by most, however I feel a lot of fans are ignoring the fact that Callum Smith is an accomplished fighter, and has every chance of walking away with the result. As its been mentioned all around the world, we could see something like the Loma result, because people simply expected him to win regardless of the opponent. Do I think Loma will win if/when they fight again? I'd probably have him as my favourite yeah. However, I'm definitely not as confident for Canelo, than I am for Loma which tells me something. If I were to make any predictions it would be that this fight goes the distance, and it'll be narrowly decided on points, but I have to hand it to the underdog Smith can definitely hold his own against Canelo.

I'm also loving the fact that Callum Smith is the underdog because I will give him the a good chance to upset Alvarez. Don't underestimate Smith here, he is too big for Canelo and has the punching power to crack that granite chin. Sooner it later it will be broken and I think Callum Smith will be the one. If there is already opening on sportbet.io, I will have Callum by KO/TKO or ML.

I feel GGG's time has passed. He was an old man now. It's been over 2 years since Canelo fought him. It is time for everyone to move on and give someone new an opportunity. You can argue GGG deserved to win those fights but we will never see those circumstances again. GGG is more aged now and he's had a few injuries which have sidelined him. Maybe if he beats someone like Charlo it will be an interesting fight again.

I tried checking their records but it seem that Canelo has been listed as Saul Alvarez so I am a little curious why there is a little change in their names.

They both hold a world middle title and their previous match like last 7 games of both of them are win and there is no losses so I guess  this will be a good fight. But Alvarez has advantage in terms of experience as he has 56 fights while Smith has only 27 fights. But the advantage of Smith is that he is undefeated, I will be looking forward if he can use it against to Alvarez in their upcoming fight.

It is a shame to me that I havent heard anything about Callum Smith. By looking on wiki, he seems to be an outstanding boxer, but not the level of Canelo imho. It wont be a tough fight for Canelo. I think he will win in 5+ round with a tko.

New twist new spice for the boxing fans, who knows how this fight will went thru,
For most Canelo have a great advantage but for those gamblers who loves taking
the risk it's serves as good opportunities to bet in and try to find luck since Smith
also have the titles on his belt something to consider though experienced wise
Canelo have a lots of it and their age are not far from each others.

Good choice but the seeing the last fight of Callum which was not impressive, i will bet for Canelo. Smith bing too big for Canelo, can't be KO'ed and that is why i will go for Canelo via unanimous decision if the odds is attractive enough. I have now the impression that team Canelo have chosen Smith for his December return because of the latter's not impressive performance on his last outing which can be considered as cherry picking lol.

As per Canelo:

Quote
"He is a fighter who comes forward looking for a fight, who does not give you a chance to breathe, to get your rhythm going. He is a fighter who has many qualities, a lot of power too, but we are ready for this and for more. I think at these levels we have to fit in with everything with the experience we have and it will be a great fight. I'm ready for this and these kinds of challenges are the ones I like in boxing to keep going and make history," said Canelo.

https://www.boxingscene.com/canelo-expects-great-fight-with-smith-aims-work-with-all-promoters--153374

So he knows whats coming, so he already have plans to offset Smith's reach and height advantage. And we are glad that he is willing to fight anyone whether in his division or go up again like the Kovalev fight. So I'm not seeing Callum winning, we haven't seen the best version of Canelo yet.

Saul Alvarez is his real name, Canelo is like a name in the boxing world, like Floyld for Money or Manny for pacman, that's their alias and it's easy to recognize since it's just a short one.

Advantage wise you give it to canelo, but you also have to respect the challenger as they are more eager to win fight, and remember that upset is not new in boxing, it could happen anytime even coming from a non popular boxer.

They're professional boxers so usually they know how to deal with someone who isn't their height, and has the height advantage. Its quite typical for a fighter to spar in training camp with boxers similar to the style of their opponent. Personally, I don't think there's much of an impact with height advantage as people try to make out. Of course, it has its factors but being taller than your opponent also leaves you open to certain type of attacks. Mike Tyson in his prime was one of the smaller boxers in terms of height, yet he fought on the inside, and made a massive career out of it. His ducking, weaving style is what made him so dangerous to those that were taller than him, and of course his killer uppercuts.

I don't think we've seen the best version of Callum either, and there's no way to tell if we'll see either fighter at their best in the up and coming fight. I would say, it'll be decided on points, and be within a point or two if I was going to make a prediction. I wouldn't advise anyone betting on this fight though, because it really could go anyway. Canelo has definitely got the experience to avoid a knockout, while Callum has definitely got experience, but he might be a little more prone to taking chances than Canelo.

I think it will be a close fight also. People might think it's easy because Smith struggled against John Ryder in his last fight but it happens sometimes when you fight a lower level opponent it is hard to be motivated and you have a bad night. There's a reason why David Benavidez's promoter had avoided putting him against Smith for as long as possible even though he is owed an opportunity to fight for the WBC title after winning the World Boxing Super Series.

To be honest. i have not followed the career of Smith yet and me living in the East side of the globe has just heard for the first time his name when he is paired with Canelo. You are right, fighting a lower tier boxer won't motivate you to train harder, that's the problem most boxers had. A fight with Canelo could be Smith's career paycheck i believe so better train hard for this one.

BTW, OP already updated.
He better does, the underdog beating the favourite is not rare at all and it happens way more often than what people believe and there are many factors for that, the first one is that the favourite has a tendency to underestimate his opponent and instead of training and study as hard as he should he takes a lot of free time thinking that it is going to be an easy fight not understanding that at those levels the difference between the champion and the runner-up is not as wide as they believe.

And when it comes to the underdog they see this as an opportunity of a lifetime, because even if they do not win if they are able to put a good fight then most likely they will be able to book other big fights and that can be more than enough to set them for life.

He is known to boxing fans as "Canelo" and when we saw that name, it is automatic that it refers to Saul Alvarez.

Callum Smith really has a chance to beat the Mexican in this fight because he is the bigger fighter of the two and that alone is the biggest advantage of this fight though Canelo is more technical but if the former could impose his size on Canelo, upset could happen.

Callum Smith really has a chance to beat the Mexican in this fight because he is the bigger fighter of the two and that alone is the biggest advantage of this fight though Canelo is more technical but if the former could impose his size on Canelo, upset could happen.

Not to underestimate Callum on here but i feel he would fall short on fighting towards Canelo. He had that firepower considering that he had 70% knock out rate but if we do compare it
when it comes to experience then he had just reached out a half on what Canelo had achieved and out of 53 wins he had only 1 lost which is something that you cant really be confident
off when facing this fighter but somehow he had some chance.

About on "Canelo" nick then heres some research:

The world "Canelo" has actually been shortened from the Spanish world "canelito".
This means "little cinnamon" in Spanish.
The boxer is known by this nickname because of his red hair and freckles.
His real full name is Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan.

So he knows whats coming, so he already have plans to offset Smith's reach and height advantage. And we are glad that he is willing to fight anyone whether in his division or go up again like the Kovalev fight. So I'm not seeing Callum winning, we haven't seen the best version of Canelo yet.

Tyson is different though, he was ahead of his time, and combine that with a one punch knockout, he was one of a kind boxer. Oscar Dela Hoya though, when he was campaigning on the welterweight during his prime, he is taller from most of the boxers at that weight class, so he was again, a combination of fast hands plus his length and reach advantage. So it's really up to Callum on how he takes advantage of it in the first couple of rounds and gauge the distance.

Yes, we can only judge them with the level of oppositions the have face before. Last time he looks awful, so that might sway bettors against him. Canelo has a granite chin, that's one factor to think as well. Again, I've seen boxing gamblers here taking the risk of betting on the underdogs  Grin

We should never rule out an upset we have seen so many upsets this year, Smith is also a champion with a good knock out rate, the fact that he is a champion, we should also give him the respect that he deserves even though on comparison Alvarez stands out to be the better guy, this is going to be a great match up, of course I'll go for Alvarez.
