I agree with you. Croatia usually plays best against the strongest national teams, but often fails against weaker teams.
In this year's League of Nations, they lost the first match at home to Austria, then they beat against France and Denmark away from home and finally won the first place in the group.

Actually the other group are same too, we can easily judge which country will qualify for the top 16 rounds. I think it's kind of settled lol, I don't find 3-4 good countries included in the same group.

Predicting which countries will qualify for the next round is easy, but predicting the champion is quite hard since a miracle can happen. The big problem is that in case Brazil and Argentina tops their respective group in the first phase, then they will meet each other in the semi-finals. So in the final, there can be only one out of these two teams. That may be very disappointing for the fans, and I would consider this as a failure from the part of the FIFA. The only way to avoid this, is to have one of these teams finish at the second spot in their group. But that is near impossible, as both the teams are in weak groups. These two statements are self-contradictory. I agree with the first part, but not with the second one. But you are right when you said that CONMEBOL teams haven't won the trophy for almost two decades now. The last time was in 2002, when Brazil won the world cup which was hosted by Japan and South Korea. After that it was the UEFA teams which lifted the trophy in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

As for Ronaldo, if I'm not mistaken he is the captain od the Portugal national team and you sad that he won't contribute much.
