So, I wonder what exactly the post is focusing on: Is it focusing on people who take big betting risk (or simply gambling), People who Bet generally (whether the risk is low or high), or people who spend alot of money on bets?  The right answer to this question will help make the stats clearer, and would be important for the use of proper term and stats that qualifies it. I always assumed that certain countries have strict safety guidelines for betting and only encourage responsible betting.

I think the statistic is not accurate because we do not know each country's situation and how people react with gambling games.
But I agree that in poor countries, people tend to play gambling because they think gambling can give them money by playing traditional gambling games, making traditional gambling games very popular in those countries.
Maybe in the other country, gambling games are popular because whether we agree or not, gambling games can tempt them to come and play many gambling games.
Their mind will think that gambling is a good way to make money, but they are not right to think like that.

Maybe it also includes Hongkong and Macau, because these two regions are also part of China (People's Republic of China). Although in mainland China gambling is prohibited, but because Hong Kong and Macau are special administrative regions with the highest degree of autonomy, then they can organize different systems of government, one of which is to regulate their own gambling system.

I agree with your first point, gambling and disposable income come together and richer countries may have more disposable income to spend in things like gambling.

From this alone you can already get a feel that depending on where you get your data you will get different answers. While it is true that you can get an idea you can't trust these results. Though, you do tend to get a feel just by looking at different metrics such as lottery winners etc. The process would be a bit long, just to get that info.   and I would no consider it myself but I'll happily contribute my thoughts to the outcome

Well, reliable information will definitely cost a lot.

It's normal to spend a lot of money on legit and reliable data because many research studies can be made through that data. Universities can use those data and can make any conclusions about gambling. I'm sure that we still don't know a lot about gambling and the other effects of it in the country, researchers will use those to help our society on how to overcome those problems we might encounter in gambling.

Yes, at least we have a small idea but it's just for those people who want to have a small idea, researchers wouldn't use that small grain of information in their study.

About the rankings then it might not be precise but at least we do have the idea basing off with these numbers which indicates that these countries are really having

I don't live in any of these countries and I have to say that I'm quite surprised, I would have never thought that Australia could be at first place. I would say that one of the Mediterranean countries would come first. Nevertheless it's nice to see some statistics like this, maybe we change some prejudice about gambling habits in certain countries.

I did check, it is a pretty interesting take on gambling, banning everything that a private owner can own but not the state run lotteries which is a good move for China because they are monopolizing the profits pouring into gambling industries, I found out too that gambling debt will not be a problem in Chinese soil which means that if someone has some sort of debt that involves gambling, they can just go to China to prevent possible litigation. I think the data focuses more on the individuals who gamble. Guidelines are not followed, businesses will not stop an addict from losing because that is how they get profit, they will stop someone occasionally to make it look like they are watching out for the welfare of their clients.
