Bitcointalk poker series #2 hosted by Betnomi

Considering the lack of enthusiasm, this is probably going to be the last bitcointalk weekend poker game.~

I'm not sure about this. I think it is prestigious to run Bitcointalk Poker Series, and that's what counts more than attracting more players to site through this particular event. I mean, it aims for the future. Right now millions of people play poker online, but very few of them use BTC. Surely this will change in the years to come. And something like "host of the official Bitcointalk Poker Series" will be a nice thing to have in your portfolio.

That's what I think.

The main purposes of a site to sponsor this would be to attract potential players to their site otherwise it would be pointless to spend over $1k just for  9 weeks of poker games in bitcointalk. Not to mention that somehow it feels sad to see that each rounds probably has less than 9 players. Its kinda shows that most people arent even interested in the game that you sponsored  

looking forward to trying for a 3peat this series and for my 2nd Title.

Fun facts : There are only 3 bitcointalk poker series winners so far out of all 5 completed series ( 4 swc poker series and 1 Betnomi poker series ). Iv4n and Betwrong won twice and then we have the other winner which is you. I will mark my name in the hall of fame this time

It was of course an epic game, not that losing would bother me, just flying out of a tournament in a place with someone is much more fun than alone. And of course, as I said earlier, it was a great game, a game in a narrow circle of friends, so it's a sin not to be happy for Arallmuus. The only thing missing was the ability to bet on the winner, so I hope Weby will be able to help in this by the next final game.

Thanks for capturing all those crazy hand moments. This was the hand that helped me get my stack back otherwise I probably would be out sooner. I was debating wether to limp or shove this hand. 2BB open is probably not a good option considering my stack size so I decided with a limp instead

Icopress won against me once in the beginning with 44 as well. The flop was 4K ( another card, cant remember ), turn was K and I had KJ so I thought I should be good but nope

Thanks  ! the reason that I get into top 3 was because trayvon knocked you and Betwrong out . My stack size was quite small as well so its just a matter of time before I got knocked out as well

I lose to your 44 hands , Im glad that I smell something wasnt right and check the turn instead, despite having top set with K. Had to call your river bet though because I thought that flush / straght draw didnt hit so you could probably just having another K10, k9, K8 ( wasnt expecting full house )

I also checked twice to one of your traps. IIRC , I had J top pair and you had flush draw. Turn was another diamond so you hit your flush. Glad that it goes check check until showdown otherwise it would bleed my stack

I stopped watching the game once I was kicked out, thinking that the outcome was predetermined. No offence, TrayvonKang, but I was rooting for TickTokLyfe/arallmuus because I thought it would be fun if he won after the conversation that happened in this thread earlier.

Well it wasnt. To be honest, It was a lucky run for me. Trayvon knocked you , icopress and Jayce out then I won few flips against Trayvon . The timing was perfect as well because the moment I hold some pocket pairs or some premium hands, Trayvon shoved so I just need to call those shove. He was a better player than me but I was lucky yesterday

I thought it would be fun if he won after the conversation that happened in this thread earlier.

I finally win one of the series after being runner up for two times iirc

Guys, let's share our experiences from playing poker on Betnomi.

I'd like to share my latest one. Normally I play very small buy-ins or freerolls there, but yesterday I decided to play in the $294.15 GTD-FreezeThemOut-Mini with $4.71+$0.47 buy-in, and it was worth it. I took the 2nd place with a pretty decent prize, almost $65

Last week, I had no time to play at all ... as I have said many times before, if you want to enter ITM you have to sacrifice time. As for the winnings on Betnomi, if my memory does not fail me, I got into the Top 10 by participating in several major tournaments (but I received no more than $ 150 - $ 400). Small buy-in tournaments are a great solution as I am less worried about losing funds. I will join immediately at the final stage of late registration, I just have 10 minutes to make a few rebuys and eventually triple my stack, (twice 1 first place with a prize of $ 100).

I have played 2 or 3 MTT free tickets but with rebuys and addons, which suit my style very well, I won one of them and if I remember correctly it was about 22 euros, which gave me for a BPS buyin.

Then I played some cash tables for a couple of hours and took out another buyin. In one of those BPS # 2 tournaments I did ITM and managed to keep another buyin, the point is that the BSP has motivated me to seek action in virtual green tables, but I really haven't played as much as I wanted, but at least I managed to keep somes buyin for the series.

I want to have training for the later series, but my poker time these days is exceeded by everyday life, as icopress mentions in his post, you have to make sacrifices, but when we like poker it is well worth it. As I always say there is always time, even 15 minutes, so although it is something else, another story, cash tables are my option at the moment, so I have played there at betnomi Omaha, always find some players they are regular in that variant of poker.

On the other hand and to finish the pic for the winner, who must be planning a trip to the WSOP

Not bad! I myself used to play in tournaments with rebuys and addons, but decided to switch completely to "freezeouts" at one point. This scheme suits me best at the moment.

Yes I am definitely annoyed when the whole table is disconnected for 1-5 minutes at a time. There is supposed to be an upgrade this month I believe. I'd like to see another series happen as well, but i'll wait to see if there are improvements made to the site.

You would do fine in Betnomi. A tight player like yourself suits the best in this field because most of the regulars in Betnomi are Loose Aggresive playe, some would even raise half pot out of position with just some bottom pair ( weird ). There are alot of those kind of players in Betnomi even in the higher buyin tournaments

Yeah although poker is not their main focus but aside from the disconnection, everything else is quite decent though.

Considering how I lured you while having a pocket pair of fours, you will need more than 300 hours, (although given that I stepped on the same rake, it's not for me to talk about it, lol). As far as the tight style of play is concerned, it seems to me that the whole thing is in the ratio of the stack and the blinds.

At some point, you no longer allow yourself to participate in the distribution with cards of medium strength, when you have to give up 10% of the stack, (for example offsuit KJ, or if you are subconsciously not ready to defend a hand). If during the first two hours you did not manage to seriously increase your stack by catching someone, then later there is nothing left but to go allin.

I have the impression that most players everywhere are like that. They learn how to play poker from Daniel Negreanu, Tom Dwan and the likes, and that's why their game involves a lot of bluffing, much more than necessary, imo. It used to work in the past, but poker is a dynamic game, for which it's impossible to invent a strategy once and forever.
