                                                                         MANTA—The Brain of Tomorrow’s Metaverse (1/4)

Please read in conjunction with

https://www.matrix.io/blog/A_Brief_History_of_Metaverse_168.html

So what is the Metaverse?

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney believes that the Metaverse will become a real-time 3D medium with a completely fair economic system, one that people participate in on an unprecedented scale.

Roblox CEO David Baszucki believes that the Metaverse is a long-lasting, shared 3D virtual space, within which people take on their personalized avatars to participate in entertainment, work and creative activities.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg thinks of the Metaverse as the next-generation computing platform after the mobile internet, saying the Metaverse may also be seen as the Internet with an actual form that can be experienced sensorily.

Tencent CEO Pony Ma said the gate linking the real world to the virtual world is open. Whether it’s constructing the real world based on the virtual world, or mirroring the physical world to the digital world, we are providing ever more real experiences to users.

In fact, it might be difficult to put an academically solid label on what exactly is the Metaverse. After all, all newborn industries would be difficult to define.

In fact, the Metaverse is both real and virtual. It builds a platform that links the real and the virtual worlds. In the real world, people’s lives can go on like normal. On the one hand, the virtual world can copy the fundamental logic of the real world. On the other, the virtual world may also transcend the limitations of time and space, presenting people with wholly new experiences for socializing, entertainment, investment, etc.

In addition, the Metaverse is just like the real world in that besides supporting all forms of activities in the real world, people’s diverse identities, assets, economic systems, cultural customs, laws and regulations can all be reflected in the virtual world. The Metaverse creates a portal to the digital world so that more people can participate.

A Crossroad for the Metaverse

Countless experts have predicted that the Metaverse is the ultimate form of digitalization. It is the upgraded version of the Internet. But there are two problems plaguing today’s version of the Internet.

Security Concerns

A highly centralized Internet is against the ideal of “freedom and openness” advocated in the early days of the Internet. As tech giants control more and more users’ data, they have no restraint at abusing this power to infringe upon user privacy.

If user privacy can’t even be guaranteed in the current stage of the Internet, how are we going to solve this concern after the Metaverse has removed the limitations of time and space?

It’s not difficult to imagine that with the Metaverse bringing the real and the virtual worlds together, users will spend considerably longer time online. Companies facilitating the Metaverse will undoubtedly take the opportunity to peep deeper into user information and monitor their behaviour in the Metaverse.

Without a doubt, the Metaverse will collect personal data in quantities and forms unmatched by today’s Internet. And because of that, the industry should also take on the responsibilities that come with it. To protect data from theft and abuse, the collection, storage and management of data are likely to be put under stronger regulation in the future.

In many countries including China, there are personal data protection laws in place regulating the collection and use of user information. Companies are required to seek user approval before using their personal data. But in reality, it is nearly impossible to give users the ability to track exactly how their data have been used. This task will be even more challenging in the Metaverse.

Computing Power Shortage

The Metaverse will speed up the integration of the real and the digital economy, and the combination of computing power and high-speed internet will lay a solid foundation for the growth of the Metaverse.

Arguably, computing power is the determining factor for how well the virtual world can integrate with our real world.

To build a platform where all types of virtual activities take place, firstly we need to realize that all the content and visual effects in the virtual world are made possible by graphics rendering consuming computing power. Secondly, to give users an immersive and low-latency experience in the Metaverse, we need a high-speed network and the capacity to process astronomical quantities of data, in addition to technologies such as VR/AR, big data, blockchain and AI.

The speed of communication depends on our computing capacity, which determines whether or not we can have a real-world-like low-latency experience. Take Free Guy for example. In the movie, what is happening in the real world can affect the existence of Free City. If computing power was cut off at the end, then Guy wouldn’t have been able to make it past the border of the Free City into the Edenesque world created by Keyboard.

History has proven that computing power will bring about a quantum leap in technologies. Because of this, the demand for computing power in the tech sector is always greater than the supply, especially now with the popularization of the Metaverse, which will remain the largest consumer of computing power so far in human history. Conversely, computing power will also determine the ceiling of the Metaverse.

An unprecedented challenge facing humanity is whether stable and sustainable computing power can be found to support the development of the Metaverse.

As we can see, the issues of privacy protection and insufficient computing power are two obstacles facing the Metaverse, which is now at a crossroads.

For the sustained growth of the Metaverse, we must find the solutions.

1. How to guarantee data security in the Metaverse?

2. How to provide enough computing power for the Metaverse?

3. Are there mature technologies right now that we can apply to the construction of the Metaverse?

                                                                                 MANTA—The Brain of Tomorrow’s Metaverse (2/4)

How to guarantee data security?

Today, data is becoming an essential factor for all forms of production, and the value of data will only be more pronounced in the Metaverse.

Even though today, the Metaverse is restricted to photos, graphical effects and games, in the future, the Metaverse will integrate the real and the virtual worlds and affect every aspect of our lives. To provide people with a more immersive experience, the Metaverse must first become a gigantic data hub and computing power accelerator.

User data include but are not limited to information about their identity, biometrics, behavioural patterns, social relationship, assets, etc. Even the relationship status and brain wave patterns of users may become useful to collect. The constant updating and production of user private data will be essential for the Metaverse as a fundamental resource as well as a means of production.

For this reason, to protect private data from being illegally collected, stored, managed and used, we must develop tech solutions and regulations to control how data are used. Therefore, privacy-preserving computation will be essential for the Metaverse.

What is privacy-preserving computation?

Privacy Computing: Concept, Connotation and Its Research Trend published in 2016 defined privacy-preserving computation as “a series of theories and methodology governing the full-life-cycle protection of private data, as well as a computable model and axiomatic system facilitating the separation of the right to own, to manage and to use private data, the compensation for data leakage and the assessment of the complexity thereof”.

Privacy-preserving computation is not a standalone technology but rather a system of technologies including cryptology, AI, security hardware, etc. Its purpose is to guarantee the full-life-cycle security of data so that data can be computed and analyzed in a non-transparent way. This way, we can effectively extract value from data, and data can be bought and sold as a resource in the market.

Of these technologies, secure multi-party computation is a branch under cryptology dealing with the protection of data security when a group of non-trusting parties collaborate in a computing task. It guarantees that no single party can know the computing results other than those of the part it is assigned.

While a trusted execution environment (TEE) based on trusted hardware facilitates private data processing and computing as well as the operation of trusted apps. This guarantees that, during execution, data is safe and non-transparent.

In addition, federated learning based on AI is a distributed learning technology integrating cryptology and AI. It aims to protect information and data security during the exchange of big data. This technology is useful for helping industries build machine learning models. Whatever the specific privacy-preserving computation technology, its goal is to make data usable and computable without making them transparent and recognizable.

When it comes to application, projects and businesses are constantly trying to integrate blockchain technologies and privacy-preserving computation. On the one hand, data on blockchain need to be protected by privacy-preserving algorithms. On the other, blockchain can serve as a foundation or hub for collaborative privacy-preserving computation tasks.

Thanks to technological advances, blockchain is transitioning from an immutable, traceable and transparent distributed bookkeeping technology into a distributed network data management technology, which utilizes cryptology and distributed consensus protocols for secure data transmission and access so that data can be cross-verified and is globally consistent and immutable.

Although privacy-preserving computation can guarantee the privacy of input data during multi-party collaborative computing tasks, the original data, the computing process, as well as the results, still need to be verified. Thanks to blockchain features such as distributed bookkeeping, smart contract, consensus mechanism, etc, the original data stored on-chain can be authenticated, and the key data and essential steps of computing tasks can be traced back so that the entire process is verifiable.

The full potential of blockchain can only be actualized in combination with practical scenarios and other technologies. Smooth data circulation, the extraction of value from data as well as privacy-preserving computation are perfect areas for blockchain technologies to shine.

Conversely, by applying blockchain’s trusted computing to privacy-computing computation, we can make its process verifiable. The two technologies will add to each other and make for better synergy in data usage on a broader level.

Privacy-preserving computation has already become a practical demand in VR and AR, and it will only be more crucial when building the Metaverse. Through encrypted sharing of private data, privacy-preserving computation offers a solution to ending data abuse on the traditional internet. This way, an endless variety of data can be converted into the fuel for the development of the Metaverse.

                                                                                    MANTA—The Brain of Tomorrow’s Metaverse (3/4)

How to provide the Metaverse with enough computing power?

Besides data, another type of resource necessary for the well-functioning of the Metaverse is computing power.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak, the digital economy is playing an ever more important role in people’s daily life. People are moving their work, entertainment and socializing online, which fuels the growth of the digital economy. And thanks to the digital economy, people can participate in social activities without leaving home.

As the platform that facilitates all kinds of real-world and virtual activities of humanity in the future, the Metaverse is impossible without advanced computing power infrastructure. Conceivably, the Metaverse won’t be limited to what it’s currently capable of but will fully support an immersive and low-latency experience.

Therefore, to replicate the situations we saw in the movie Free Guy would be rather demanding on our VR/AR hardware technologies, the speed of our network as well as the quality of computing power.

First of all, to enjoy a truly immersive experience, users will need to wear VR/AR/BCI devices, which by that point should become an essential part of people’s daily life just as smartphones are today. In the meantime, the integration between the virtual world and the physical world will create an immersive experience bridging the gap between people’s online and offline lives, which will define the era of the Metaverse.

Low latency involves two aspects. One has to do with people’s Metaverse experience. Real-world and virtual scenes should synchronize with user actions. The other aspect involves guaranteeing the sustainability of computing power. The rate of data communication will grow exponentially, which requires the stable low-latency synchronization and computation of data.

Since the Metaverse is still in its infancy, its growth will depend on the establishment of powerful computing and data storage capacities. To make people’s Metaverse experiences more real and complete, astronomical quantities of data will be produced. The scale and completeness of the Metaverse will be determined by the computing power and storage capacity available in the real world.

As we know, the development of computing capacity will depend on the speed of internet communication as well as the scale of available data. Therefore, computing power and data are interdependent for the success of the Metaverse.

In order to bring the Metaverse into existence and move people’s activities online, the amount of computing power required would be astronomical. Therefore, more and more people are looking towards cloud computing and edge computing for solutions.

Cloud computing is a centralized service where data from all over the world are sent to the cloud for processing. At its core, cloud computing involves gathering together distributed computing resources so that users have limitless access as long as they are connected to the Internet. This also removes the boundary of time and space. According to data from iMedia Research, the global market size of cloud computing is anticipated to reach 265.4 billion USD in 2021.

Whereas, edge computing offers data processing at a physical location close to the source of the data. Its application programs are launched at the edge for swifter internet response. This method offers a solution to the time-critical needs of businesses, practical AI applications as well as security and privacy protection requirements.

As a matter of fact, both cloud computing and edge computing are paradigms of distributed computing capable of improving the speed of the network. Centralized cloud computing services are efficient and secure, and edge computing is responsive and simultaneous. Both deserve to be further explored as computing power solutions for the Metaverse in the future.

Despite their advantages, cloud computing and edge computing have their limits too. Centralized cloud computing exposes user data to risks, while edge computing may be incapable of generating enough computing power for the Metaverse.

MANTA — The Brain of Tomorrow’s Metaverse (4/4)

Matrix provides computing power for the Metaverse through the separation of computation and consensus.

Even after years of development, there are currently only a small number of projects and businesses engaged in the practical implementation of the Metaverse. And of these, most are only offering watered-down versions that by no means reflect the true potential of the Metaverse and are plagued by numerous technical issues.

For instance, Decentraland, one of the earliest virtual games on Web 3, held a Metaverse meetup last December. During the meetup, the server suffered an overload with merely a few thousand people online so that many players experienced a temporary loss of video and audio signals. In the end, to make the meetup worth it for the attendees, Decentraland had to give in and resort to the centralized Tencent Meeting app instead, which deprived the event of its specialness. This is but one of many such fails.

In fact, gaming and social media are naturally where the Metaverse should gain its first foothold. To develop a game, first, we need to set up the framework of a virtual world so that people can interact and have fun there. With the framework in place, we can introduce an economic system into the game based on the real world. The only challenge here is that, compared to traditional games, network and data exchange latency will be the biggest problem the Metaverse has to solve.

Traditional centralized games support high-frequency interactions between players and the server. Each action players take is synced to the server within tens of milliseconds, which demands much of the upload and download speed of the server.

To decentralize without sacrificing performance sounds like an impossible task, but this is where a technological revolution must take place. Since a decentralized network can theoretically have wide coverage of edge nodes. These nodes can be closer to players than traditional servers, and this way latency can be kept as low as possible. But if so, why are latency still restricting the development and implementation of decentralized blockchains?

To explain this, we need to look at the consensus mechanism of blockchains. Consensus mechanisms are what guarantee the security of blockchains. The programs in the server are calculated and cross-checked by the tens of thousands of nodes in the network. In contrast to the once-and-for-all approach of traditional servers, consensus mechanisms will cause many times more data and computational tasks to flood the network, which makes millisecond-level response speed nearly impossible. Even though players may get assigned a node located closer to them, the benefit of this will be easily outweighed by the extra burden of running consensus algorithms.

With this in mind, if we can find a consensus mechanism that guarantees the security and stability of programs without centralized management, then the mechanism can be deployed onto distributed networks to utilize their computing power resources to the maximum.

This technology is called the separation of computation and consensus. Under this arrangement, consensus algorithms only need to do the thing they are best at doing, while computation will be assigned separately to each node in the decentralized network.

Matrix has designed a wholly new consensus mechanism (Hybrid-PoW) to make this idea come true.

Hybrid-PoW is essentially a marriage of DPoS and PoW. From a mathematical perspective, the long-term expected yields of elective PoW and global full-time PoW are mostly the same, which means the introduction of an election-based mechanism would affect miners much. One challenge, though, is to guarantee the fairness of elections. Most DPoS election mechanisms currently adopted by projects can’t achieve true randomness and fairness. To solve this problem, Matrix has introduced random clustering algorithms (RCA), which categorize nodes by their characteristics and select representatives from them through true random elections.

With the help of RCA, Matrix’s Hybrid-PoW will be more secure, better at guaranteeing fairness and easier to implement. All miners in Matrix AI Network don’t participate in PoW mining in every mining cycle. Only elected miners do PoW computing so that Matrix can export the extra computing power on its platform to clients who need it, just like a cloud computing platform would do.

In a network built on an HPoW consensus structure, users don’t have to go through blockchain to interact with nodes. This avoids latency caused by consensus mechanisms and brings gaming ping down to a millisecond level. Meanwhile, Matrix’s global network of nodes also works as a powerful server to run games on.

In the future, Matrix will open up its entire computing power network so that users can contribute their extra computing power and become a part of the Matrix ecosystem. With good hope, this will become the world’s largest distributed computing power network, and thanks to its support, the full potential of the Metaverse may finally be realized.

MANTA — The Brain of the Metaverse

The Metaverse is essentially a gigantic virtual world where people interact with each other online. Computing power is the foundation of this virtual world, as the rendering of virtual environments and users’ interactions are made possible by computing power. To make the Metaverse truly worthwhile, user privacy must be protected, and the way to do this is through distributed privacy-preserving computation. If the Metaverse were a human, then the computational network would be the brain that commands and provides energy for the whole body.

MANTA of the Matrix ecosystem offers the perfect solution for building such a brain for the Metaverse.

MANTA (MATRIX AI Network Training Assistant) is a distributed auto-machine learning platform built on Matrix’s high-performance blockchain. The platform is essentially an AutoML application together with its deployment system, which uses distributed network technologies for acceleration. The AutoML network searches for a high-precision and low-latency deep model, which is then accelerated through distributed computing. MANTA has two core functions: auto-machine learning (Auto-ML) and distributed machine learning. The framework for the latter is a perfect distributed privacy-preserving computation network.

The speed of network searching and training will be further accelerated through distributed GPU parallel computing on MANTA. MANTA’s distributed machine learning is essentially a set of distributed parallel algorithms, which support parallel data and parallel models for acceleration. The idea behind all this is to distribute the data generated in each iteration to different GPUs for forward and backward computing. In each iteration, each GPU will be sampling the same sub-model. Distributed parallel model algorithms are different from parallel data in that, for each iteration, MANTA allows different nodes to sample different sub-networks and conduct a global exchange of gradient information after each node has completed its gradient integration.

Due to the characteristics of MANTA and Matrix’s unique consensus mechanism, this network will be capable of connecting the idle computing power of the world. Your iPad or iPhone could contribute computing power to Matrix while you sleep at night. At the same time, MANTA has a principle of using your own resources to serve yourself first. When your own devices are idle, the system will prioritize using their computing power to support your Metaverse activities. This allows a lower-level privacy strategy to be used to improve efficiency. When using computing power from unknown devices, a higher-level privacy strategy and distributed computing involving more nodes will kick in. We call this smart edge computing, which may eventually prove to be the solution for the huge amounts of privacy-preserving computation necessary for the Metaverse.

Matrix + the Metaverse: A Restructuring of Data and Computing Power

Without a doubt, the Metaverse we are talking about today has far exceeded what the 1992 novel Snow Crash could imagine. In the past decades, we experienced:

· The technological revolution brought about by advances in modern digital information technologies as well as the social and economic changes that followed;

· The social and political environment since the industrial revolution challenged and reforged by the Internet, ushering us into the era of Web 3;

· Advances in VR, AR and MR technologies with ever-growing power to create a virtual world comparable in detail and complexity to our physical world;

· The invention of blockchain, and the new economic possibilities it brought in combination with DeFi, NFT and other financial inventions;

· ……

Looking back, the landmark events in the real history of the Metaverse may be different from what people originally had in mind, whether it’s the level of decentralization, the closeness to reality, customizability, or the maximum number of online users the Metaverse can take. In order to have the Metaverse span all platforms and industries, we must keep looking for creative solutions.

The birth of every new technology in the history of mankind is made inevitable by the technological breakthroughs that preceded it. In essence, the Metaverse is a restructuring of data and computing power. Current limitations are caused by a lack of computing power and effective measures to collect and manage data. The demand for limitless amounts of computing power has given rise to the concept of decentralized privacy-preserving computation.

As far as we can see, the scale of data and computing power will be the single biggest limiting factor for the development of the Metaverse. This challenge will be present at every step in building the Metaverse, and we must find out how to restructure and reassemble data and computing power in order to guarantee user privacy in the midst of the lightning-fast exchange of information. We must also know how to integrate idle computing power from nodes around the globe so they can work seamlessly. These are the focuses of the Matrix team.

We cannot put our finger on by what exact time we’ll gain sufficient and stable computing power to bring the Metaverse to its full potential. But we know that MANTA’s approach to distributed large-scale computing power will play a key role in this, which won’t just benefit the Metaverse, but also be critical for the success of Web 3. The Metaverse is still in its infancy, and Matrix still has a long way to go. But now, as the brain of tomorrow’s Metaverse, MANTA offers us a glimpse of what the Metaverse could be and a future of endless possibilities.

Matrix AMA — May 2022

Eric: Hello, good afternoon Matrixians, and greetings to our CEO Owen, it’s good to see you again.

Owen: Hi Eric, good to see you. Hi community.

Eric: How time flies, it’s another month, so I just can recall the last time we had the AMA shooting, so it’s another month again. So I’m sure that you have some exciting progress, and we will keep updating the Matrixians through the year bi-weekly reports and also the AMAs, and also through our education-based articles to enable all to know the rationales of our project and to answer, to understand the progress of our projects. And today I got something to share with the Matrixians. So you can see we have this standing mic which is requested by some of our Matrixians saying that with a better mic, it will be better quality for our AMA shooting, and that would be better in terms of brand image, and see what we got now okay. And I’m sure the sound quality will be a lot better. And tell me if this doesn’t, then I will get refunded from the vendor thanks.
Okay, Owen, so today we have a total of eight questions that we screened from the submissions through the online form from the community. Some technical related, and some about the project’s roadmap, and some about the bio-wallet that we have been showcasing to the community as I think last year.
So allow me to start with questions involving the technical side. I think the first two questions come from the same person named Miles and the second is from Miles Tellor. So I will ask in one go, if I may, so it is like this the question: “Is MAN EVM compatible? Can my Solidity Smart Contracts be deployed on MAN?”. So this is the first question, and second I think it’s similar: “Am I able to deploy my own Smart Contracts on Matrix?”.
Owen, do you have an answer for that please?

Owen: Yes of course, MAN is compatible and of course you can deploy your smart contract on the Matrix main network. And also we support the Solidity contracts. You can find the documents on how to use our API and the tools or the EVM in our website. Of course you can deploy your own contract on the Matrix MainNet.

Eric: Good thanks. I think when you talk about the menus I think you are talking about the guides that we published earlier. I think last week or two weeks ago we had two technical guides ready about writing Smart Contracts and also IDE, something like that. So I think that would be helpful for Miles. So hello Miles, I think Owen just answered your question. So the answer is positive, you can deploy your Solidity Smart Contract on MAN, and it’s EVM compatible. Okay, thanks Miles. And let me go on to the third question coming from @omer55yuksel. This is about the AIRTIST. “Once the AIRTIST token is released, are you planning to airdrop AI Art to the MAN holders?” Owen?

Owen: Yeah, the thing is I’m not a supervisor of the AIRTIST project, and they are one of our partners and also our ecosystem project. And of course I think when AIRTIST launches, we’d like to hold some events with them, and maybe it will include the airdrop or other kinds of events we can do, yeah. So let’s wait for their project launch and we will see what we can do and what kind of events we will hold with them.

Eric: Okay, thanks Owen. I think in the April AMA, there’s a similar question about AIRTIST asking if there will be any kind of a private sale, and then would that be opened to the Matrixians to participate. I think back then the answer was positive but we’re still waiting for a formal reply from them, right?

Owen: Yeah, and they are still under the stage, they need to do some work to fix their schedule, including maybe how to sell their token, or the economy system for their project. So I think after all the things have been settled down, we will be very clear to see how the MAN holders can join these projects and what benefit we can get from their projects.

Eric: Okay, thanks Owen. I think AIRTIST is a hot topic in our community. And they are excited about the project itself, and also about any private sale and also any airdrop events. So if you have any update just let the community know before, for example, June, or the AMA, etc. So we just keep feeding the information to the community. Yeah, this is a hot topic, thanks Owen. And the next question comes from Jerry, @JHollander: “When do we see a new roadmap”, I think this question is about the project roadmap, because the last item will end in June and there is no [more] items in the roadmap, so I think he would like to know, and I think many of our Matrixians would like to know what would be the road ahead of us after June. So Owen, do you have answers for all that please?

Owen: Yes I think in this stage our main work is to finish our current roadmap. We need to make everything settle down and everything work. After that, I think we will spend maybe one or two months to discuss the future of Matrix and what we’ll do in the next stage. So I think maybe in the third quarter we will release a new roadmap for the next step for Matrix.

Eric: Okay so Jerry, for the third quarter there will be a new roadmap release. And just keep monitoring our website and also the sharings from our admin group. I don’t have information either, so once I have I will share with you and also with other Matrixians as well.
Talking about the roadmap, I have a question from myself. I think in the March AMA we mentioned there will be a maintenance test by some partners by June, by the end of June. So is it still on schedule Owen?

Owen: Yeah.

Eric: Okay, good. Anything to share? Okay, good, good, good. Yeah, if you have anything to share with us just let us know, for example who are the partners, what are they going to test, and when they start to test, just let us know. Okay, and then I’m gonna make sure the Matrixians will get this information right after you share with me, thanks.

Owen: Okay.

Eric: Okay, cool. And then from PhantomElf, what a good name, the question is like this: “How will MAN work in intelligent cities? What will be the security against being hacked?” Owen?

Owen: Yeah I think at first the intelligent cities need a lot of computing power. We know all the artificial intelligence, they will run with a huge computing power, and I think the computing power will be the basis for all kinds of artificial intelligence projects. So of course we have MANTA, so I think we can offer computing power for all kinds of intelligent city projects, and also our maintenance system can offer AI services for the intelligent cities. So that’s how MAN will work in intelligent cities.
And for the security issue I think, because maybe MANTA or MANAS and all the Matrix is on a decentralized system, so in the decentralized system, the ai system will be safer than in a centralized [system], so I think this is the best way for us to do the security against being hacked.

Eric: Okay, thanks Owen. So PhantomElf, I think just today, maybe later this afternoon, we are going to publish another article which is titled “The Mental Brain of a Metaverse”. In this specific article today, we’re talking about how Matrix will contribute to the computing power in the intelligent city or smart city wise, or on a macro scale. And Owen just mentioned because our system or our whole platform is kind of decentralized, so it will be kind of a tactic against being hacked, because by nature it’s decentralized.
Okay so, two questions come from Elk. The first question is about storage.
“Hi Owen, I hope you are having a great day”, and I’m sure he is, thanks Elk. Now to my question: “As a first step Matrix will use its own hosted IPFS for storage and then later transition to some other IPFS such as FileCoin. Will NFTs minted on Matrix IPFS be moved to FileCoin IPFS when that merge happens?”

Owen: Yeah, if we choose some other IPFS platforms such as FileCoin, when the merge happens we will move all the data we have stored on the Matrix IPFS to the new IPFS platform such as maybe FileCoin. But at the same time we will still keep one copy on the Matrix IPFS files, if maybe something happens we will [ensure] that the users will keep their data safe.

Eric: Okay that’s good, that’s kind of a disaster recovery plan, we have something in backup and that’s good. And the second question comes from Elk, it is about the BioWallet: “Hi Owen, what’s the current status of the BioWallet? How far away from production are they? When can Matrix users buy a unit and use it to access their wallet on Matrix MainNet?”
So yeah, this is about the BioWallet and what kind of status we are in, Owen?

Owen: Yes, thanks Eric, as you know we have some demo for our BioWallet which is based on the finger vein scan technologies. At this stage, we have lots of discussions about this technology, for what kind of projects we should use it in to make a real product, so we have lots of discussions about that. Until now, we have some choices for that, maybe such as to use it in… The first one we can use it in the Metaverse, and DID, and the second one maybe we can use this technology as a creator’s signature for the NFT market, and also we can use that in some real assets services, which we can bring as real asset on the blockchain, we can use that to do the personal signature.
So I think maybe the first product we will release for the finger vein scan, maybe not a wallet, it may be some other kind of products, but also it can be what we have still under discussion, so we haven’t made this decision for the final version, but we we will make this as a product, yeah.

Eric: Thanks Owen, I think the community has been discussing… basically is quite excited about it, by the wallet thing, and they are looking forward to the release of any information about the BioWallet. And Elk, I think Owen just mentioned certain points that have been discussed, how to move this BioWallet project forward. I think one is the DID which can be used in the Metaverse, and the second is about a protection to the physical assets. Now think about OpenSea, Wearable, etc, most of the assets there are digital assets, so to speak. And what if we have the physical assets owned by someone they want to put to blockchain for some reasons, be it personal or be it business. How to protect this physical asset is a question, so this comes in the BioWallet. I cannot share too much about this for now because we are still discussing it. So this is about the second perspective.

And the third one is about the shared KYC because whenever you are engaged in any financial service product you will need KYC. And it takes quite a long time for the financial product to accept you as a user because they have to go through the KYC process reviewing your documents and having their internal control, etc. However, if we can use this finger vein style as a shared KYC and as an editor service for those financial platforms or institutions, that could significantly reduce the time, and they can significantly improve the customer experience, in particularly the onboarding experience. So I think the prospect is quite, how do I say, quite significant, quite exciting. We just have to discuss which aspect we want to go for, because when we decide which way to go we go to, and then we have to come up with more functional features.
Of course we have the prototype right now, which is quite good, and we have to still go into details, what would be the product specifications after we’ve defined the so-called use case, just like what I said: the DID, or the protection layer for the physical assets put on the blockchain, or as a shared KYC, etc, etc. So, yeah, if you have any other use cases that you think our finger vein technology can be used for, let us know. I believe you have a lot of experience and wisdom in this regard, so do share with me, thanks, Elk.

And then the last question comes from @budspencer469, which is about the BioWallet as well: “Did you patent the Matrix BioWallet Owen?” Have we?

Owen: Yes, we are buying some patents for our finger vein scanning technologies.

Eric: Okay that would be a protection to our technology, when we go commercialize, that’s good.
So I think these are the questions coming from the Matrixians, and our CEO Owen has answered all of them, and in a clear way.
For the roadmap we have to wait for Q3, and then we will have a new release of the roadmap to share with the public.
And for Miles, yes the answer is positive, you can deploy Solidity contracts on MAN and it’s compatible with the EVM, and you can refer to our technical guides that we just published I think two weeks ago.
And then about these smart cities, or intelligent cities, please refer to our specific article today, how Matrix can enable and power the Metaverse in terms of computing power, in terms of privacy, protection, etc.

And for the measures against being hacked, because it’s decentralized so you’ll be safer when you compare with conventional platforms. And then trying to address the BioWallet, it’s quite exciting ahead, a lot of very promising use cases, but just we have to decide which one we have to go for, and then decide the functional features from the prototype. And yes we are getting the patents in the process, so let’s answer the questions coming from the Matrixians.

And if you have any further questions please do submit to us using the AMA online form, and meantime we have some online events going on, I think it will end soon, until the end of May. And in June we will have some new events, and also you will see some marketing happen, although it’s not a massive scale as you will understand, so just keep an eye for those.
And I think that’s the end for this May AMA.
Thanks Owen for your time and detailed answers. Thanks for that.

Owen: Thank you Eric.

Eric: And thanks Matrixians for your support, and just keep submitting us with your suggestions, for example some of the Matrixians talk about the upgrade of our Android Wallet, we are working on that, but we still have encountered some bugs which are unexpected, so it takes slightly longer than we expected, but we are working on that.
And also if you have partnerships, refer to us, yes please do that. And if you are interested to become part of our team, do submit through the global recruitment form as well. And likewise, AMA questions, do send us some lines, thanks for that, and thanks all Matrixians, have a good month for June, and stay tuned for updates.

Thanks, bye.

Owen: Bye.

                                                                                                MANAS—Make a Better Metaverse (1)

AI: The Cornerstone of the Metaverse

The Metaverse is a virtual world projected from the physical world using information technologies to serve as a digital space where the social activities of the future society take place. We don’t yet have a clear-cut definition of the word “Metaverse”, whose concept is fluid and ever-changing. Institutions and professionals also have varying definitions of the Metaverse, but so far most people would agree that the Metaverse is a series of Internet applications and new social forms integrating reality and virtual reality made possible by revolutionary information technologies such as IoT, VR, blockchain, HCI, AI, 5G/6G, etc. By wearing AR/VR devices, people can enter a 3D virtual world, and everything and everybody in the physical world can be projected into the Metaverse.

The Metaverse brings real and virtual worlds together into one economic, social and identity system where every user can create, live life, have fun and work.

There are many versions of the Metaverse people have envisioned, and AI is integral to all of them. Arguably, AI is the cornerstone of the Metaverse.

Meta’s AI Technologies for the Metaverse

As the re-inventor of the Metaverse concept, Meta is closely observed by the world in every step it takes in this new realm, especially those moves related to AI.

Until the company discloses more information, Meta’s second-quarter earnings report is the most useful knowledge we’ve got to work with. Meta lost 10.19 billion USD on Reality Labs and 6.62 billion USD in total in 2020. With so much spending on developing Metaverse-related technologies, the outcome seems a bit underwhelming. Just as investors and professionals start to sober up from the Metaverse hype, a recent tech breakthrough by Meta reinjects some confidence.

Meta has released new technologies including Builder Bot and CAIRaoke that aim to create the kind of conversational AI necessary to create virtual worlds.

1. Conversational environment generation tool Builder Bot: In the video, we can see Zuckerburg and a friend playing around in a virtual environment. Through a series of voice instructions, they were able to add clouds, trees, islands, desks, chairs and other virtual objects to this virtual environment. But this is merely a demo version of Builder Bot. To create a more complex 3D environment, more time and mental effort will be necessary.

2. Super AI assistant CAIRaoke: Its bottom layer is a self-monitored end-to-end neural network model, which is capable of understanding and learning the voices and body languages of users. This helps make our interaction with the voice assistant in the digital world smoother and more natural. In the demonstration video, CAIRaoke can keep track of the amount of salt used for cooking while keeping a conversation with users. Based on its observation, the AI assistant will remind users to include enough salt in their diet. Currently, this technology is already in use in video call portal devices. In the future, it will also be integrated into AR/VR products to improve people’s interactive experience with digital assistants.

3. Universal machine translation tool: Meta's universal machine translation technology aims to provide real-time audio-to-audio translation between any two languages. This AI translation tool will break the barrier between people speaking different languages. A language we don’t know will no longer keep us from communicating.

Besides the above, Meta also released other AI tools, which, together with the AI supercomputer Meta introduced previously, will bring endless potential to the Metaverse as they mature and find practical applications.

As the passageway to the new era of technologies, the Metaverse is quickly binding itself with AI, and their integration will bring forth content richer and more vivid than we can imagine. Smart companions, smart interaction, as well as the generation and construction of settings and environments among others are great examples of AI’s contribution to making the Metaverse infrastructure smarter. AI has taken over a large amount of Metaverse infrastructure and user orientation work and lightened the load on human employees. By improving human-machine interactions, AI has helped to create better experiences for users, thus creating value in the virtual world rather than our physical world.

AI is empowering the Metaverse to go faster and further. In other words, the Metaverse may one day become something like the Oasis in Ready Player One.

                                                                                              MANAS—Make a Better Metaverse (2)

MANAS: The Key to Digital Synesthesia

AI is making its transition from perceptual intelligence to cognitive intelligence. The current consensus in the industry is that the development of AI has three stages: computational intelligence, perceptual intelligence and cognitive intelligence. Computational intelligence is a machine’s capacity to store information and compute. The weiqi match between AlphaGo and Lee Sedol is a perfect example of AI’s computational intelligence. AI’s ability in this aspect has far exceeded that of human beings. Perceptual intelligence is a machine’s ability to listen, talk, observe and recognize. In this aspect, AI is almost on par with humanity. AI voice recognition is already capable of imitating human voice perfectly and understanding a dozen different languages. Face recognition can isolate one person from a group of hundreds or even thousands of people. All this means that AI is at least equal to human beings in its perceptual capacity. Not to mention that in certain areas it clearly does a better job. Cognitive intelligence is a machine’s capacity to use its understanding of human languages and common sense to deduce and reason. It is an advanced level of AI revolving around the ability to do step-by-step deduction and make accurate judgments using common sense. Today, AI’s cognitive intelligence is still far behind what humans are capable of. In the future, with breakthroughs in brain-machine interface, AI may finally be able to match humans in cognitive intelligence.

In the Metaverse, users will be able to perceive the digital world through five senses. To make things easier to understand, we call this synesthesia. The original meaning of synesthesia is to break the boundaries between sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste and make these senses interchangeable so that one’s perception is richer and fuller. In the Metaverse, digital synesthesia is achieved by AI and machines enabling our bodies to experience the virtual world more vividly than is possible in the physical reality, to express and receive the warmth of emotions. Language is at the bottom layer of digital synesthesia. Hearing is the basis of verbal interactions. While digital sight (VR) and touch (sensory equipment) enable our bodies to feel the texture of the virtual world. The integration and synergy of all these virtual senses will make for a virtual experience surpassing what can be experienced in reality.

Therefore, the development speed of AI, especially that of cognitive intelligence will directly affect how fast the Metaverse matures. As a newborn concept, the Metaverse doesn’t yet have a clear definition, but it does have some distinguishing features, which include concrete digital identity, multi-model perception immersiveness, low latency, a multi-dimensional virtual world, accessibility from anywhere, as well as a complete economic and social system. Due to these features, the Metaverse will create large quantities of data and consume large quantities of computing power. High bandwidth networks, Metaverse devices everywhere in all shapes and forms, as well as natural and intuitive human-machine interactions, will demand smarter algorithms to process in order to keep up with the growth of the Metaverse and its number of users. The success of the Metaverse, in particular, will depend on human-machine interaction, which has to do with user experience, as well as large-scale dataset processing, which affects the governance model of the Metaverse. Breakthroughs in these two areas will depend on AI. Therefore, how fast AI develops will affect the progress of digital synesthesia, which in turn will decide how soon the Metaverse will take off.

MANAS will provide the necessary solutions for a better digital synesthesia for users.

                                                                                         Node Server Upgrade

Dear Matrixians,

Recently, we got a feedback concerning a situation about failing to find mining peers. Upon a discussion with Dev and Maintenance, we had come to a solution and have deployed to run for couple of days. It works well this far.

Essentially, two overseas node servers have been deployed. Plus, one full node server has been running as a contingency to the existing one for fail safe.

We believe this solution will provide the community with a better experience in syncing data and mining. Should you have other suggestions to us, please do not forget to fill in https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAioEUFqwYi_av9DbsT11KXqA0HDzWws8LcwDKnx79vLOb-Q/viewform

Enjoy the adventure with MATRIX.

                                                                                               MANAS—Make a Better Metaverse (3)

Object Recognition: A Boost to the Efficiency of Digital Synesthesia

Powered by one of MANAS’s core algorithms, object recognition will play a central role in improving digital synesthesia for the Metaverse.

As the Metaverse is an open digital world, it will contain a large number of items and content that aren’t native to the Metaverse. Users won’t be able to identify these based on Metaverse’s native database, and due to their large quantity, users can’t reliably distinguish them using experience and five senses either. Efficiency is paramount to living in a digital world. Therefore, we will need some external AI services for assistance. One good example is MANAS’s image recognition technology, which greatly improves the efficiency of living in the Metaverse by helping users identify an assortment of objects and content. It also supports customizing services through secondary programming to achieve functions such as automatically categorizing objects that have been recognized, adding them to one’s own database and taking actions accordingly. For instance, after recognizing a friend, you will automatically send them a greeting. After recognizing danger, you will automatically avoid them.

At the same time, MANAS’s object recognition can serve as the underlying algorithms for other customized advanced user features. For instance, the auto-capture feature based on MANAS object recognition can single out specific objects from a video and take a screenshot of them. This feature will help people capture those fleeting moments of beauty that happen in the Metaverse.

Thanks to MANAS, digital synesthesia will continue to evolve to enrich people’s experience in the Metaverse.

                                                                                                             User Guide for Matrix IDE

Matrix IDE is an online integrated development environment built on the Matrix Mainnet supporting the use of Solidity to develop, compile, deploy and interact with Matrix smart contracts online.

Layout

1. Icon Panel: Click to choose which plugin to show in the Side Panel

2. Side Panel: A graphical user interface to show icons

3. Main Panel: A work area for editing files

4. Terminal: The area to show results

Icon Panel

The Icon Panel contains the file explorer, the compiler, deploy & run functions, tools, settings and other useful features.

The File Explorer

The File Explorer is a tool for browsing files saved in the local storage. By default, it contains two test contract files and one Matrix address converter.

Click + on the upper left corner to create a new Solidity contract file. Let’s name the file test.sol in the window that pops up.

Click OK, and you will see hello.sol under Browser in the File Explorer on the left side panel.

Simultaneously, a newly created file will open in the Editor. At this point, the file is still empty.

Next, write some simple Solidity codes.

Add a local file.

You may select files from your local storage to load onto the IDE explorer.

Editor

You can edit codes here.

Select the newly created hello.sol file and enter a simple string of codes.

Let’s use the simplest codes we can think of, as in the example above. The function of echo () is to return any string of codes that is entered.

The Terminal

The Terminal is mainly for showing the results of running a contract or a static analysis.

The Compiler

You may click the box right next to Compiler to choose which version of Solidity compiler you wish to use.

Click Start Compiling to compile the currently selected code file in the Matrix IDE Compiler. In this case, the file is hello.sol.

If no error is found after compiling is done, you will see Hello in the dropdown menu under Compiler Configuration.

Deploy & Run

On the Deploy & Run page, you may deploy a compiled contract as well as run already deployed contracts.

Three options are offered under Environment.

· Java Script VM is a virtual machine in Java Script. It operates in your explorer so you don’t have to worry about Java Script node configuration or losing MAN. This environment is most suitable for learning and prototype testing.

· If you have your own node, you may select Aiman Provider to connect IDE to your node. However, please note that if a node is connected to the Mainnet, any transaction will be charged a transaction fee.

· Use the contract function of the Web Wallet to compile the tested contract into byte codes and deploy it onto the Mainnet (wallet.matrix.io) or the test chain (wallettest.matrix.io).

Example

In the image above, the selection box is set to Hello. The selection box will contain a list of compiled contracts. Click Deploy to deploy the selected contract. After mining, newly created items will be added, which may take a few seconds. Please note that if the constructor contains parameters, then they will need to be specified.

At Address can be used for viewing deployed contracts. This is assuming the provided address is an item under the selected contract. Please note that this feature does not currently offer security checks. Make sure you are using a trusted contract address.

Now we can see our contract under Deployed Contracts. Click our contract.

As we can see, the echo method set out in the Hello contract automatically shows up.

The return value is the same as the parameters we entered. We have achieved our goal.

Address Converter

address_conversion.sol is a library file for swiftly migrating Ethereum contracts to the Matrix Mainnet.

toMan converts an Ethereum address to an Matrix address.

toAddress converts an Matrix address to an Ethereum address.

Tools

This section contains some useful tools you may need on the Matrix Mainnet.

                                                                                       MANAS—Make a Better Metaverse (4)

MANAS: An All-Powerful Assistant for the Metaverse
Service Upgrades Made Possible by the Metaverse

Throughout history, all revolutions in the service industry have been preceded by tech innovations. The popularization of the Internet has brought the service industry online. In 1999, China Merchants Bank rolled out online banking, allowing users to make payments and transfers anywhere and anytime. In recent years, mobile Internet has made service accessible in more scenarios. You can order a McDonald’s takeout on your phone and pick it up from a drive-through without getting off your car. The Metaverse will also break through the boundaries of our current imagination and create endless possibilities.

In the Metaverse, you can create a hamburger of unique flavour for yourself to enjoy, instead of buying it from someone else. Do you need to be a master of culinary arts to do that? Absolutely not.

In the Metaverse, to be creative, all you need is imagination. Leave the rest to the platform! Anything within the power of your imagination can easily be realized, just like in Inception an architect can raise buildings that defy the laws of physics. The hamburger you create online will immediately get 3D printed for you offline so you can enjoy the delicious food of your own creation.

Secondly, sharing will be an important part of the Metaverse. Creation is only step one. The experience is not complete if we don’t share the hamburger with friends. Some people doubt whether taste can be replicated in the Metaverse, as it is a more subtle and complicated sense compared with sight and touch. Can the culinary styles of all different regions in A Bite of China really be replicated in the Metaverse?

The brain in the vat is a thought experiment that has shown us that all senses are the result of nerve pulses stimulating the brain. Taste is also a series of nerve pulses that can be separated and replicated with electric signals in the Metaverse. When brain-machine interfaces are eventually invented in the future, we won’t even need to send stimuli to the taste buds but directly to the neural system, and one will taste the flavour of a hamburger in his mouth. With this ultimate level of customized service, restaurants aren’t likely to receive any complaints. At most, people will complain that there isn’t enough computing power to keep up with the speed of their imagination.

The Metaverse is the perfect medium for the service industry.

Firstly, both share one same ultimate pursuit: experience. The Metaverse provides the venues for experiences, which are magnified to the maximum. The integration of the real and the virtual adds to the experience and makes it all the richer. Services will be accessible anywhere and anytime in the Metaverse like air and water. They will be essential, and the service industry will upgrade into what we call Metaservice.

Furthermore, the purpose of both the Metaverse and the service industry is to supplement lackings. If a product is flawless, there won’t be room for supplementary services. The purpose of the Metaverse is also to supplement the real world. One predominant feature of the Metaverse is that it’s demand-based. In contrast to the industrial era when assembly lines churn out generic products, the Metaverse will usher in the era of customized services.

MANAS: Solution to Metaverse Services

In the future golden age of the Metaverse, services will have two features: customizability and huge demand. To make this happen, the majority of these services won’t come from humans but from AI.

Different from centralized platforms, MANAS adopts a C2C business structure. This is a fully competitive market, which, for users, means better prices. Meanwhile, MANTA’s Auto-ML lowers the barrier to developing services for MANAS. The distributed Matrix AI Network provides scientists with affordable computing power, which also helps keep the pricing competitive for services on MANAS.

As a C2C platform, this platform will be demand-driven. Different from centralized platforms, personalized needs and niche markets can find satisfying solutions here. This way, AI will benefit every aspect of the Metaverse.

MANAS will provide the perfect solutions for the huge amounts of personalized demand in the Metaverse, thus enabling people to better enjoy life in a digital world as well as all the benefits AI creates.

MANAS: Make a better Metaverse

MANAS has already made its APIs public so any Metaverse platform can access AI services on MANAS through these APIs and repurpose MANAS services for the platform’s own users. At the same time, Matrix is actively seeking partnerships with all sorts of Metaverse platforms to gather more Metaverse data to fuel the development of MANAS.

The Metaverse is an industry that’s in rapid growth. It is bound to produce more data than the real world, which could never generate data from all 360 degrees as the Metaverse do. The huge quantities of data make the Metaverse a better training ground for MANAS than the real world. This will help MANAS attract more algorithm scientists and create better AI services. In other words, MANAS will grow as the Metaverse grows. With enough training, Metaverse-born AI will eventually surpass real-world AI and apply itself to scientific research scenarios. For instance, by creating a spacecraft in the Metaverse, we can gain valuable knowledge about spacecraft construction in the real world. Of course, to do this, we need to base the Metaverse data model on the real world, but still, the originality and flexibility of technologies in the Metaverse can’t be matched in the real world. This process will doubtless drive the development of real-world technologies forward.

MANAS will continue to benefit the Metaverse and users in the course of time. Today, we can already use MANAS’s object recognition to improve digital synesthesia and voice recognition to make interactions more efficient in the Metaverse. In the future, as MANAS attracts more and more AI talent to create top-notch AI algorithms and services, the Metaverse will become a better and better experience for users.

Matrix Announces BioWallet to Make Crypto Funds More Secure

                                                               Bloomberg
                                                               globenewswire

 June 23, 2022 16:00 ET | Source: Matrix

Hong Kong, June 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Matrix introduces the latest in crypto security - BioWallet With the advent of cryptocurrency, security has become a top concern for many people, and Matrix has come up with a new biometric wallet that meets these needs.

The Matrix BioWallet uses the unique veins on the finger to unlock and sign transactions. With this technology, you will be able to access your wallet without using a password or PIN. This feature will help you stay safe while securing your crypto assets. As a bonus, it will also eliminate the need to remember a password or PIN. By utilizing biometrics, your wallet is more secure than ever before.

Another advantage of Biowallet is that it's backed by a team of scientists, so it's guaranteed to work for you. You can even customize it with your own unique username and password. Once you've customized it, you'll have access to a broader range of security features. The Biowallet also includes an easy-to-use interface and an optional fingerprint reader. The new security system allows you to store your private keys and crypto assets in a safe, secure location.

Rapid advancements in web and telecom technologies have sparked a considerable shift in corporate value toward the burgeoning digital economy, hastening enterprise digital transformations and the adoption of Industry 4.0 and Web 3.0. Today, the ability to fully exploit the commercial potential of data is the key engine of value creation in the digital economy, and advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are the most competitive advantage in getting insight into data.

The data economy is only now waking up to the major problem that a lack of solid data management solutions poses. In order to increase data connectivity and enable a disruptive wave of growth in the digital economy, blockchain now delivers a powerful answer.

Matrix AI Network is a prominent provider of end-to-end solutions for enterprise-grade data management with high security, interoperability, and performance thanks to a fundamental combination of AI and blockchain.

The Matrix 1.0 blockchain platform is the first AI-optimised blockchain platform. Low transaction speeds, lack of security, the complexity of usage, and squandered resources are four key concerns in blockchain that we address with AI technology. We built a public blockchain platform that is both functional and dependable.

The Matrix 2.0 is constructing a blockchain-based AI economy based on data, computer power, and AI models. We're building a self-evolving AI platform with aggregated processing power, safe data management, transparent data sharing, and access to an ever-growing set of on-chain AI data, models, and applications.

User data include but are not limited to information about their identity, biometrics, behavioral patterns, social relationship, assets, etc. Therefore, privacy-preserving computation will be essential.

One of the biggest problems with digital currencies apart from their market being completely random and at the mercy of big sharks, is the security of most wallets out there. Many crypto wallets out there are merely phishing scams that do away with your digital assets as soon as you ‘safely’ put them on there or are just one little algorithm away from giving all your crypto to a greedy hacker.

This is exactly where BioWallet comes into this scene. With its advanced and first-of-its-kind algorithm that takes fingerprint locks one step further into the future, BioWallet can recognize veins and their placement in a finger and lock your crypto so that only the correct infrared imaging of your finger will open the crypto wallet.

Matrix AI Network’s BioWallet project

AI and blockchain are significant technologies to empower the modern wave of digitization of even currencies. MATRIX blends the two elements with a vision to create a decentralized AI economy. The Matrix public chain is an ever-expanding ecosystem. It includes MANTA, a platform to train AI algorithms, MANAS, a distributed AI service platform, MANIA, a platform for Intelligent Authentication of digital assets, and MANITO, a platform for industry network open services.

One such product of the Matrix AI network is the Biowallet, a next-gen hardware wallet that works on the principle of finger vein recognition rather than print recognition.

According to Mr. Owen Tao, CEO of MATRIX, it supports the unlocking of your wallet as well as the signing of transactions using one’s finger vein, thus saving people from the stress of having to remember a password/PIN, and more. In theory, you would never lose access to the Bio-Wallet by forgetting your password.

Finger vein recognition works by sending a beam of infrared through your finger to get the image of your vein. It utilizes the latest and greatest biometric recognition technologies, and you can count on it to perform this with speed and precision. As part of a living organism existing underneath your skin and tissues, your vein is impossible to replicate using non-living objects. Fingerprints on the other hand are easy to replicate and you cannot avoid leaving your fingerprint on various scanner surfaces, which could expose your assets to unwanted risk.

Besides, finger vein recognition is less affected by your finger’s condition in comparison to fingerprint recognition. The latter could be affected by water or dirt on the finger or even skin damage. Not to mention that some people do not have distinguishing fingerprint features or even more extreme some people are born without fingerprints.

The Biowallet introduces a level of security and flexibility across platforms that is yet unseen on the Web3.0 algorithms.

When compared to its contemporary methods of securing digital assets, BioWallet fares well in face of PC Wallets or Ordinary Hardware Wallets in all the factors including, but not limited to;

    Protection against cyber hacks
    Corporate risks
    Private key
    Asset Privacy
    Offline Signing
    Virus Immunity
    Counterfeit- Protection

The things that make the Matrix AI network special aren’t just the BioWallet and its advanced algorithm

The people behind Matrix AI network are big enthusiasts of complete decentralization of data including your social identities as well. With projects underway for Decentralization Identification(DID), data will be more secure than ever and more flexible than before.

The DID project will make the interconnectedness of platforms easier and more convenient and will allow the freedom of forgetting passwords to dozens of identities across the internet and unite them under one decentralized platform, accessible by your finger’s veins.

With DID, the government can have a balance between innovation and law enforcement. The financial institutions can improve the KYC onboarding experience, and the end-users can authorize shared KYC and sign transactions easily and safely. Think about protecting digital assets, like valuable NFTs which often are vulnerable to theft, and even physical assets that is a huge untapped market. This solution can prove provenance and equally important is the asset transfer can be safeguarded.

Quite ambitious and way into the future but possible and needed.

                                                                                                  2022-06-AMA-Transcripts

Eric: Hello Matrixians!

Today is the 28th of June. As usual we are having this June AMA with our CEO Mr. Owen Tao. And just for your information, Owen has just been released from a 17 days quarantine because he has been identified as a cross contact, and as a result of visiting a shopping mall. So why don’t you, Owen, share with us what’s the life like being quarantined in a hotel, is it a hotel?

Owen: No, it’s not in a hotel, it’s some place such as, some place like AirBnb.

Eric: Okay just like AirBnb. So the environment is good, yeah? It’s good, is it comfortable?

Owen: Just feels not free. Everything is okay.

Eric: Okay good so, good that you have been released from the quarantine. And because of the Covid, our office has tons of operations on hold, and because there is a wave in Shanghai and into Beijing, I hope you guys are doing good there and stay safe.
Alright so, in today’s AMA we have two sections: one is we have to summarize the roadmap delivery, and then the second part will be about the questions from the community, and then addressed by our CEO Owen. So, why don’t we start with the roadmap issue? Owen could you please share with us some updates about the progress of this stage five in our roadmap, could you share with us some progress? Thank you.

Owen: Okay the first part, the platform for NFT trading, I think most of this part of the work has been finished. Until now I think we can support all the main kinds of blockchain platforms, NFT minting and trading. We have updated our IPFS storage and also our API for the Matrix. Now, if you keep your data and your algorithm on the Matrix IPFS, you can use it to mint NFT on any kind of the main blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Solana, Polygon, or something else.
And the second one is the ecosystem of NFT for trading of computing power algorithm and data. I think most of the work has been finished and until now we can support all the main blockchain platforms to mint NFT with the algorithm models and the data which have been stored on our Matrix MainNet. And also, we have already introduced one partner who will use our NFT as its main function in their project. The project’s name is AIRTIST.
The next part, we have already started the work to allow all kind of computing power which is not our miners, they can connect to our network. Yet, this will still take some more time to finish all the work. After that I think that all parts of this will be finished. The last part is the generalized Automatic Machine Learning. This work has been delayed the most in our stage five, but it works. I think it will be finished in July. Yeah, it will be been finished in July. Until now we have started to connect Manta with our Main Network. And during next month we will invite some partners who will use Manta and our Automatic Machine Learning platform to support their work and their business, and you will get more details in the next month. And also, now some updates about our MANAS platform. I think we will finish most of the work of MANAS this month, and then you will… The older business fee transaction and also the older accounting and billing information will be updated on our blockchain. So, you will use MANAS all based on our Matrix Main Network. Yeah, that’s some updates from me and you will get more new information in the coming weeks.

Eric: Okay, thanks Owen, allow me to drill down to certain details, when you talk about MANAS, are you saying that we are going to deploy MANAS to the Matrix MainNet this month, June, right?

Owen: Yes, yes, soon. the older data and the older transactions and also the algorithms will be supported on our MainNet. And you can check all the data of your account, and all your API using information on our blockchain.

Eric: Okay, and then the third item that you update is about MANTA, or the generalized Auto Machine Learning, so it will be ready in July because of the Covid we have certain operation issues. So, and then we will have the partners to test MANTA, and then we can expect that in July, and I think the Covid is something that’s out of our control, and I think it can be understood. And then the second item is… The first and the second item are on track. And then I have a question from Elk, when it comes to the ecosystem of NFT trading, computer power, of Google model and data, it says upgrading and opening up for computing power from other sources, the mining machines to geometrics, could you give a little more details for this one, what does that exactly mean?

Owen: It means when you’re… Yeah, we have lots of demanders on our MainNet and when your machines are not working for mining, the computing power of your machine will be rented for someone who need that. The main jobs until now for us is running MANTA. Anyone who wants to use our MANTA platform, they want to use our MANTA for trading, training their algorithm models, they will use the computing power from the free miners on our network.

Eric: Okay, so it’s still about the miners within Matrix, but that statement is from other sources, not our mining machines, is that what you refer to?

Owen: Yeah, until now we can support all kinds of mining machines to connect to our network, but I think in the coming months we will solve these problems, we will allow all kinds of miner machines. I think mainly for the CPU, GPU, and the TPU, with this core of the machines I think they can connect to our network and offer the computing power to the customers who need the computing power for trading, for training their algorithm models. But I think the ASIC chips will not be allowed in our network.

Eric: Okay, I see. So, aside from these four items, we have a fifth item that is the wallet that we have been testing at stage one. So, I know the eco partner is doing the UI upgrade, and then that we will keep the community informed as well. So, this is also another deliverable of stage five which is extra.
Alright, so that concludes the first part of this AMA, and let’s move on to the second part which is about the questions from the Matrixians. And today we have screened a total of nine questions from the community. The first one, from @omer55yuksel: “Will we be able to issue our own token over the MainNet, over the Main Network in the future?”

Owen: The answer is yes, you don’t need to wait in the future. Right now, you can put your smart contract on the Matrix network and issue your own token right now, our mainnet has already supported this function.

Eric: Okay, so speaking of this, do we have any guide or menus to kind of set up or create their own token on our Main Network?

Owen: Okay, well I will ask the technology team to offer one, and we can publish it in the coming weeks.

Eric: Okay good, so I will mark it down, okay. And then the second question is from @amazir07: “Do you think the GPU mining will be ready before the Ethereum POS update?”

Owen: Yeah, our ecosystem, in fact GPU mining for us is MANTA, yeah, I think the first version of MANTA for the public to use, I think it will be ready before the Ethereum POS update.

Eric
: Okay so, then we are again talking about July next month.

Owen: Yeah, I think after that, after we have already invited some partners to test our network, I think the miner, all kinds of customers who can connect their GPU machines to our Main Network, and also if they can serve some customers, they will get paid and get revenue from them.

Eric: Okay I see so, if ever, by any chance, it will be later than July so we will keep the community informed, but let’s hope for July we have this GPU mining first version to be ready. And then @budspencer469: “Is the OBOR project dependent on Matrix, or can these services be substituted?”

Owen: Yeah, I think the thing is we can’t say our services are non-substituted. But in fact, we have a lot of advantages in lots of the AI areas, such as the predictive maintenance. Steve’s team has a lot of experience, and we won a lot of prices, and also we have already practiced lots of projects, so I think in some areas our Artificial Intelligence technology and our service are the best in China, and or maybe all over the world. So we can’t say we are replaced but we have lots of advantages, and in the future weeks I still want to offer more support to the OBOR project, yes.

Eric: Okay. So, talking about OBOR, there is another question from Kayhan Ozturk: “Hi Owen! Can you please share an update on ongoing projects such as TBEA, OBOR and others?”

Owen: Yeah, first for TBEA, the project we have worked with TBEA is coming to the end, and we have already finished most of the work for this project. And most of them are under testing right now, and I think within this year we will finish all of our work in this project. For OBOR, we have already done lots of things in Xinjiang province to support the OBOR province, and most of them are in the energy industry such as we have supported the Chinese electrical group to build their smart electric factory in Xinjiang and we have already provided lots of the Artificial Intelligence solutions for them to make the energy transactions safer and faster. And in the future, most of the solutions we will introduce them to our MANITO platform, and we will make them as generalized services, we can provide them to all kinds of companies who will use these solutions. And if you want to use our services in MANITO, you also need to use our computing power on our MANTA network. That’s our plan, yeah.

Eric: Yeah, to share, MANITO has been kind of a hot topic in the community. So, the community is expecting that as well, so all things are quite excited. Then it goes to the next question: “Does your project use zero-knowledge proof technology?”

Owen: Until now, the zero-knowledge proof technology hasn’t been used in our Main Network, but it will be used in some key functions in our system such as our MANTA platform, it will use the zero-knowledge proof technology. And also in our plan, we will develop products which are about the decentralized ID. In that project I think we’ll also use the zero-knowledge proof technology, yeah.

Eric: Okay good, so it’s not now, but it will, right?

Owen: Yeah. And we have already used some of them in our MANTA platform.

Eric: Okay, good, good to know. And then you talked about the ID and then it relates to the BioWallet, and this question is from @snoeks78: “Is it possible to include a password manager like Dashlane/Roboform, etc., to the BioWallet?”

Owen: I think it’s a good suggestion but, in our plan, I think we want to use the biology information to create a new wallet or the DID. It means we want the customers who will not use the password anymore. We want to free them, free their memories, they need them, they won’t need to remember the complicated password. So, in our opinions, I think that we will just use the biology information to replace the password, yeah, that’s our plan.

Eric: So, yeah, good. Snoeks, so our answer is: our technology is more advanced and we just want to use the finger vein bio information to replace the password server, you don’t even have to remember the passwords, so it’s many steps ahead of this one. So yeah, just stay tuned about the DID.
And then, continue to a question from “anonymous”, and then the interesting thing is this Matrixian, when he submitted these questions and he tried to hide the information and he asked if I put “anonymous” then “how do you contact me if my question got selected?”. And that’s something interesting, alright, so, I don’t know how to contact you, but here is the question: “Why should somebody pay for MANAS? Because Google is for free and easy to use.”

Owen: In fact, Google will not offer the free AI service, if you visit the Google Cloud platform you will see all the prices for all kinds of AI services on the Google platform. Maybe you think you are using their services for free but in fact, someone has already paid for that, for example we do the same things in MANAS, for example, if you have developed applications which can identify the animals, you can use MANAS services and use the API, and the developers can pay all the fees for the AI algorithms, and the customers will use them just for free. So, in my opinion, as I know, the Google AI services are not free. In another hand, I think the Metaverse will be the future. The decentralized world will be the future. The Web 3.0 will be the future. In those conditions, I think it will be a world which is decentralized so, in a decentralized world you need to use the services supported or offered or provided by the decentralized [system]. That means in a decentralized world you need to keep your information, and all kinds of your security data. So, in that world, the main AI services must be provided by a decentralized platform so, I think that is why miners will be needed in the future. And also…

Eric: Yeah, now Owen, I think you have given a very informative answer to this anonymous Matrixian. You can refer to our website, there’s an article trying to lay down what makes MANAS or Matrix different from other projects. In that series of articles, we go very deep and then tell what’s the advantage, what’s the difference, why you should use MANAS and why you should use Matrix, why our product is superior. So, you can refer to that and then you can ask yourself these questions, and if that doesn’t answer your questions, come back to me my anonymous friend. Okay, and then, this is from @EcGodslight, and then this question has four sub-questions: “Are there plans for more exchange listing of the MATRIX AI token?”, this is the number one.

Owen: Yes, we are looking for some suitable exchanges for MAN. And we have done some connecting work with them, and I think to be listed on more and better exchanges will be our target in the future, yeah.

Eric: Yeah, okay, I think this question has been answered before.
And the second is: “Does MAN have a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) market place?”

Owen: Not yet, yeah.

Eric: No, yeah, right, the answer is no. Because I think, before in our roadmap, we were trying to… I think in the very beginning we were trying to build an NFT marketplace, because back then, the NFT marketplace was not so popular, but nowadays the NFT marketplace is very mature and very established, and there’s no point that we have the adequate team, or spending money, time, manpower, etc. to build another NFT marketplace. Because of that we don’t have any uniqueness, or kinds of edge to run over all existing matured established NFT marketplaces. And that’s why in this stage five, we try to develop, to mint, and then to trade the NFT at other popular empty marketplace, and that makes more sense, and that has been ready as per what Owen has shared with us in the very beginning.
And then third is… Okay, I don’t know what’s the question, and then four is: “Would there be rooms for AMA’s with other Innovative Web3 projects, if approached?”

Owen: Yes, I think yes, and we’d like to do all kinds of cooperation with the other innovative web 3 projects. Including the AMA together.

Eric: Okay, so, that’s the all the questions that we have screened for this AMA.
Thanks Owen for your time, and thanks Matrixians for submitting these questions. And in this June’s AMA we have again two sections: one is to sum up what have been delivered for stage five, and there’s some delay because of the Covid, and we are still trying to push hard for next month, and then the second is we answer a total of nine questions, including Elk’s question about the other mining sources.
Okay, so, that’s the end of this AMA. Thank you, and take care, and best regards to our colleagues in Beijing because there is a Covid serious situation there still, okay. Take care, bye bye.

Owen: Bye.

M-Port: An AI-Powered DID Platform based on Biometric Information

The Internet is at a crossroads.

Since its birth in the 1990s. The Internet has changed the way humanity lives, communicates and connects with each other over the course of the past 30 years. Today, its influence has reached every corner of the world, and we are once again at a crossroads and have to decide where the Internet will be headed in the future.

30 years ago, we were at a crossroads. In 1993, A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto was published, calling tech geeks to take action for an Internet environment that is secure and protects individual privacy. Without this movement, Bitcoin might never exist.

25 years ago, we were at a crossroads. In 1998, Tencent developed OICQ, the predecessor of QQ. Different from ICQ, a popular online chat tool at that time that stored its user data on each user’s computer, OICQ stored all user information and chat history on Tencent’s server.

20 years ago, we were at a crossroads. In 2004, Facebook was founded, ushering in the era of Web 2.0, when all of us can upload our personal data, social information and daily life onto the Internet in the form of words, photos, videos, audios, etc. to share with people we know or don’t know.

10 years ago, we were at a crossroads. In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto published A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System: Bitcoin. Using his genius-like knowledge of various technologies and subjects, Satoshi single-handedly created the world’s first completely decentralised digital currency: Bitcoin.

At each crossroads, by turning left we chose centralisation and by turning right we chose decentralisation. The past 30 years of Internet were spent in this tug of war between these two futures.

Every one of us is in the same social network. It is interesting and useful, but not decentralised. The Internet is rife with ads and clickbait to the point where it’s unbearable. People need a free and open Internet to voice their thoughts. - Tim Berners Lee (A paraphrase, not a direct quote)

As one of the most influential figures in the development of the Internet for the past 30 years, Tim Berners Lee issued a cry for decentralisation through these words.

The past few years saw the popularity of blockchain and other technologies that enable a decentralised Internet space. Whether it’s technological innovations such as consensus algorithms, or innovations in governance methods such as DAO, or innovative financing solutions like peer-to-peer lending, these are all embraced by the world with enthusiasm. It seems that people have already chosen, and Decentralisation will be the way to go.

Why would Tim Berners Lee, one of the people who helped lay the foundation for today’s Internet, lead the rebellion against it? The answer is Web 3.0.

Web 3.0: A Passage to the Future

As early as 2006, the World of Internet published an article titled the Era of Web 3.0 is Arriving, claiming that activeness, maximum digitalisation and multidimensionality will be the main features of Web 3.0. Since this article, different people have tried to redefine Web 3.0 on different occasions.

In a thesis published in 2014, Gavin Wood envisioned that Web 3.0 will transform the Internet through P2P contracts into a decentralised and privacy-protecting space. As Brian Brook, CEO of BitFury Group said at a Congress Hearing in 2022: The characteristics of Web 1.0 is that it’s read-only, and users couldn’t interact with the information they read; while in Web 2.0, people can not only read but also edit the information I see on the Internet; what makes Web 3.0 different is that people can also own it.

Although different people define Web 3.0 differently, most of us would agree that Web 3.0 with its characteristics of privacy security and ownership shared by all will be the solution to the current situation where big tech companies infringe on user privacy and hold a monopoly over the Internet.

However, to this today, we are yet to see a meaningful breakthrough that will make these visions about Web 3.0 come true. A few core pieces are still missing, digital identity being one of them.
