It’s the weekend and despite the fact that several leagues aren’t on going due to the international break, there is a couple of friendlies here and there with some second division leagues on the go. Norway Eliteserien is one place to look, Benfica even have a friendlies today with Villarreal, that’s a good bet too. I suppose the issue is you’re not really into sports betting and we tend to prefer the major leagues in Europe like the premier league, Lique 1, Serie A, Bundesliga and the Laliga.

The major European leagues finished their season last May and the players went on vacation. But even on vacation from league games, the players who were lucky enough to have their national teams qualify for the World Cup are playing for their national teams in that World Cup. Fortunately, the games in the major leagues start next month, in the new 2026-2027 season. The game schedule has already been released, but I haven't seen the odds for the games yet; probably the bookmakers will release them as soon as August begins.

Odds are quite interesting for Spain, because this team looked good from every match, many people predicted Spain would win, while Argentina relied only on deadly counterattacks.

England actually messed with a couple of substitutions, which piled up more pressure on them. There is no way you are just going to sit at the back with teams like Argentina and think you will survive.

I have had an eye on some of those fixtures as well, especially the premier league and I see a lot of potential with regards to winning at the openings when, the race for points would be on and the elite teams would be looking to start good and get points that they would want to sustain through the rest of the season.

I’ve being wondering just how these players that are still in the World Cup would fair, given that they haven’t had much rest and next season is fast approaching.

Your observations are perfectly correct because Tuchel really made lots of mistakes in that world cup outing and one of the biggest I know was not including Cole Palmer to the squad. Tuchel justified such decisions with Palmer's decline in performance,  fitness issue and others. Despite this, I still believe it was a mistake not adding him to team because his presence alone would have made significant impact in the team and whoever is playing them will be careful seeing Harry Kane and Cole Palmer in the front.

It was not just palmer exclusion that was a very big mistake, the exclusion of Folden and Alexander Arnold was a very big mistake, because in most of their games they played in the world cup, they always struggle to break down teams that seat deep and plays on the counter attacks, so they need creative players like them to do the magic in games like that.

Against the Argentine, the only mistake tuchel made, which was the biggest of them all is to go defensive against a team that have someone like Lionel Messi very early in the second half. I knew that they would not be able to hold on to their lead especially when Pickford was making a lot of saves. So I knew that it's just a matter of time before the goals will start coming, and I was not wrong at all.

Alexander Arnold and Folden are two great players but if you want to discuss heir exclusion from the world cup, you should check who replaced them and if they are better alternatives. I did that for Cole Palmer before coming to the conclusion that he ought to have been chosen by Thomas Tuchel even if he will not start all the matches, using him in some of the matches would have been a great decision for England. Third place which is Bronze medal is not too bad though especially for a team that have not reached that stage for the past 60 years. So in general, Thomas Tuchel have done well whoch may need the reason he is retaining his job till Euro 2028.
