If I installed a 1tb drive before using the miner would I need to install any software on it first?

I think i formatted mine to a suitable fle system before installing but from what i read it should just be a straight swap in and it will download the blockchain again. Or you could try and clone what you have to save time downloading the 400gb.

I upgraded my drive and all I did was power off the unit, swapped the drive, reimaged the SD card. And powered it on. The node resynced itself in over a couple days

No, as long as you power on the device with the SSD installed and a freshly imaged SD card, it will take care of setting up the drive for you.

I just got a second hand Apollo BTC 'standard' unit, with apollo power supply.   It powered up fine, I see the red blinking lights that goes to solid red... I have the usb attached to a raspberry pi running ubuntu 20.04 64bit, and I have the latest apollo-miner binary.   I just get this repeatedly, until it gives up:
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [1] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [2] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [3] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [4] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [5] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [6] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [7] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [8] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [9] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [10] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [11] !!!
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [12] !!!

I can see that ttyACM0 is the correct device...
[173260.253662] cdc_acm 1-1.2:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device

any ideas? did I buy a bad unit somehow?

*edit
I tried it on another computer, an x86 full desktop and it also is on /dev/ttyACM0 but is doing the exact same thing
>>> Waiting for USB /dev/ttyACM0 [81] !!!

*re-edit, I just needed to run it with sudo or add permissions to the device, solved

Are you running as a user who has access to the device? (sudo or granting the permissions that were posted earlier in the thread.)

I  just received a Full Package Apollo BTC. Upon initial boot in the web dashboard a notification popped up saying that an update was available, so I  clicked it and ended it did indeed update. It is downloading the blockchain for the node, but the miner does not work at all. I  can click start and it goes throught the "warmup" and the mining dashboard opens, but all the fields are empty and it doesn't mine. It does connect to the pool as the worker showed up in my sub-account, just no hashing. Quick fix or does it need to go back to futurebit for service?

Sounds like a bug in the 0.3.0 software. Now that you've updated, try shutting down the unit and do a full restart. See if it comes up with the stats then

I  just reflashed the SD card to the latest 0.3.1 software and no dice. Still won't load the miner or start hashing.

A little FYI,

I have 4 units running and 1 unit was always running 10 degrees hotter and fan spinning 1800-2000 rpm faster than the others right out of the box.
Solution that I found was the hotter unit had a loose heat sink. If you turn the unit over there is a metal plate with 5 screws. This one unit the 5 screws were loose. I tightened them up obviously not to tight but tight enough. Turned unit back on and now all have close to matching temps and fans speeds.

If I want to upgrade to the latest update, is the only way to do this to reflash the MicroSD card? Will doing this factory reset the device, so that I have to setup the miner from scratch again, and resync everything?

No you should have an "UPDATE" button top right of the UI. Click that and let it do its thing. I did and it worked fine.

Yeah as gt_addict says the update button should work fine. Worst case if that doesn't wok you'll have to reflash the SD card which will reset your settings however all the blackchain data will remain as it's stored on the NVMe hard drive so you won't need to resync that. Just re-enter all your pool details and you're good to go

Is there a way to turn off the flashing red status LED? I find it constantly flashing on my desk really irritating. Could it not be updated so that it only flashes during start up, or if there is a problem, and turns off entirely when everything is functioning normally?   (i.e. node + miner both running okay)

It`s good to be able to see the status of the units from the led with out login into it, but I get it I have a hard time with the led light on a smoke detector on the ceiling  Grin . You could cut a small piece of black electrical tape and cover it for the time being.

Not sure the right way to get pictures up but this worked  Wink

https://imgur.com/a/A0KMm1H

Im REALLY in need of a fix to get the HDMI out put to work on the screen in the case, I know there is an issue that the video will not work on all screens
and low and behold the one I need to work for my custom setup is one of those. HDMI is working on a computer monitor beside my setup but again is there a future fix coming or a work around ideas? driver to install,update....?

At least I can display a FUTUREBIT image on a USB plugged into the screen. Makes for a great conversation starter. (2 co-workers bought units now)

The planing started back in February batch 1, Its been a fun project lots of hours researching varies parts, and cases that could fit the units in, welded up a custom designed stand to hold the units and some case mods to make it all work. Powered by 2 Corsair 750 watt Platinum ATX power supplies. 10 fans, 6 intake and 4 exhaust to make a positive pressure enclosed case. Planning has already stared for Batch 2 units and now batch 3 units.

Really looking forward to a fix! Grin

Thanks. I did see something in the release notes about the swap file being increased for future lightning apps etc. Does that get installed when update via the web UI?

Nope, for that you need to flash the SD fresh with the new image

Now that wasn’t clear as I would've done a fresh image had I of known that it wasn’t on the UI update version.

Is it possible it would be changed on a future UI update? Or is it not possible at that level?
