my concern is mining at home over clearnnet

The full node unit is a mini desktop computer. You can install any app and configure any service you wish include both of the above. except you can't run anything which uses CPU because controller will overheat and entire miner may shutdown. That's by design to keep device quiet, apparently. |

That's by design to keep device quiet, apparently. C-Lightning doesn't need a lot of resources. I will definitely try to do it in like 3 steps to avoid too much load at once: 1) Blockchain IBD 2) C-Lightning setup 3) Start mining Do you know if we can get the nice web interface that comes on the image files onto a clean Debian install (or similar)? And where did you get the miner binary from, again? I may be going to create a guide to replicate my setup eventually, since I see a lot of people here try to kind of do what it's advertised to do (be a full computer with potential for installing LN etc.) but have no idea how. |

In theory yes, it's a 'normal PC'. In practice, you'll have to see if you got the thermal headroom, CPU headroom and disk space headroom for it. Because it's a very very small 'normal PC'...  |

That's wrong. A compac F will be around $250 while this is more like 4x the price. And it has much more than 4x the hashpower. 1x CompacF: 300GH/s 1x Apollo: 3.8TH/s So you would need over 10 Compacs to reach the Apollo's speed, which would cost you almost $3000, compared to ~$1000 for an Apollo. The one point for the Compac-F is that it's super efficient. It runs at around 15W, so you will probably never mine at a loss and even if you are, you're only losing a few pennies a month. |

You may as well buy $20 of Bitcoin and have positive return after a year (when you sell for $30), instead of buying $300 miner and never have a ROI. Mining in a pool doesn't make sense with USB miners, only solo mining is left as a reasonable choice. Meaning, you always "mine at a loss" until you hit the block, of course, which for 99% of people, will never happen. |

I'm new here. Minned BTC on my discrete gpu in 2013 and sold it all at $125/₿. Jumping back into mining, so I bought myslef a Futurebit node/miner. Fully agree with the DCA via electricity for Non-KYC! Honesty, I also got one because I got scared when I saw how few nodes are protecting the Blockchain. Even more so that USA only has 1770 nodes.  Bitnodes.io Figured it's time to step up and do my part to help the community and my own holdings. Yes, that's pretty much correct. Though you don't factor in the resale value. Just reach out via email if your having any issues. If you got two extra standard units just shutdown your full node, plug in the new units to their power supplies and the USB cable to the back of the main unit, fire up the full node and it should auto recognize them and start mining. Keep in mind you might need an extra USB hub if you have more than 2. |

All set with the cable thanks all. The good thing its one that we get with a lot of table and phone devices. The hookup was painless and both hashing great.
Nice to see 313 watts used with 6TH hashing at the balance setting. I remember my Avalon 721 needing 1200watts for 6TH. Oh so quite too
