I do remember that google did impose bans on crypto advertisement. Facebook followed the same thing too few days later. But didn't they lift the ban after a year or so? I am almost sure I have seen crypto advertisements on google ad sense. And what if the company is outside the US? They can't register with FinCEN. How are they going to advertise then? But yeah. Good move by google. It looks like more companies are starting to recognize crypto industry as a legit industry.

There is also a good chance that Google bought a good bag of Bitcoin before releasing the ban or making it easier to advertise cryptocurrencies. I think that is the more likely scenario. Imagine you missed the boat but your are extremely powerful. You'd abuse your power to slow down or stop the boat, catch up, and once you are there do everything to lt the boat accelerate.

They should still be strict with those ads because some scams are managing to bypass their process and still got some ads with scams. But they've done a well done job so that many people won't be misled again by these scams.
Crypto has been a legit industry but just like other industries, it's being attacked and swarmed by scammers.

Before, I saw many investment schemes on google ads on a website that I visit daily. It's a pyramid scheme with a note that your money will be x10 within a week. I think Google will need a tool that will determine if the cryptocurrency ads are appropriate or not. I think many people will click the ads if they saw something like this, and it will be risky for sure.

They can do that easily. So far, so good in my experience. Those scam ads that I've seen before that were appearing automatically on the pages I visit were now gone.
But I think some are still existing on top page results when you search for specific projects or topics on google.

I as a blogger and google adsense user know that crypto is included in the Your Money Your Life category. and not qualified to enter in ads from google adsense. YMYL is like anything related to finance google adsense really be careful with ads like this. only limited company in financial thing will able ads with them.

This is actually very true and a lot of scam ICOs got the opportunity to advertise their scams via google. Maybe that's why they once shut it down. Then again it is the sam with the gurus that want to sell their advisory courses to you these days. That plague is all over the internet now.

Google recently updated their policies regarding Google Ads and will now allow ads related to cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets provided they have registered with FinCEN. This change is set to take effect in August 2021. As you may recall, the ban was imposed in March 2018 and lasted almost three years.

This easing of crypto advertising restrictions is a positive sign. Google appears to be warming up to bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general as many governments, financial institutions and private companies are increasingly liberalizing their crypto policies these days. What do you think?

It's certainly a good development.

But to be honest, they're only doing this for their own gain, which is fair enough. They also want to have a piece of the crypto bull market cake by offering advertising services to sectors that are booming in market cap.

It's a win-win situation, though. Google clearly benefits from a corporate perspective. Now that regulations are tighter on advertisements, hopefully the community will see less phishing/scam crypto sites and finally get rid of that problem.

One thing is sure. The cryptocurrency market has grown so big, that Google can no longer ignore this sector. A blanket ban is not advisable, as the revenue will be simply diverted to their competitors. But I believe that this ban was not strictly imposed since the beginning of 2021. Because I have seen ads from Indian exchanges such as CoinDCX, WazirX and CoinSwitch Kuber on various internet portals, listed by Google Adsense (I am a resident of India and access internet through an Indian IP). Or do they treat these exchanges as separate from the main cryptocurrency market?

We still have to be careful though because the ban doesn't mean that they are proactive on preventing scam websites, remember that scammers get crafty everytime there's a way to prevent their scams. Always DYOR and ask questions about the site, don't be gullible, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

It is all good, half bread is better than none, Google may not be receptive to btc or crypto now but they are no longer shutting it down which is  good step, who knows what will follow next, don't be surprised they are already nursing the idea, there is too much to gain and little to lose,
Eventually btc has a way of winning them anti-btc over, slow and steady will definitely win the race.

We still have to be careful though because the ban doesn't mean that they are proactive on preventing scam websites, remember that scammers get crafty everytime there's a way to prevent their scams. Always DYOR and ask questions about the site, don't be gullible, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

yeah right, there's no assurance that they'll be on monitor from each scam websites. Scammers are always good in finding ways to continue their illegal activities.

Always do your good research and make sure that you focus yourself in verifying whether the ads is for real or for only scamming people.

take time and do yourself a favor in preventing those kind of business, nothing works instantly so avoid those alluring promises. invest wisely and not to entrust your money to something that too good to be true.

They can do that easily. So far, so good in my experience. Those scam ads that I've seen before that were appearing automatically on the pages I visit were now gone.
But I think some are still existing on top page results when you search for specific projects or topics on google.

This is actually very true and a lot of scam ICOs got the opportunity to advertise their scams via google. Maybe that's why they once shut it down. Then again it is the sam with the gurus that want to sell their advisory courses to you these days. That plague is all over the internet now.
They've shut it down but still, there might be some in existence that Google can't track. But I think this time they're more aware of what these scams have done to their platform and they've been flocked by those ICO and other scam projects.
With my observation, they've improved.

Lifting the ban is something they had to do a long time ago because the profit from crypto advertising is not small. I noticed many projects are still marketed on other platforms. Careful moderation is all it takes to prevent scams.
The positive effect of removing ads is that money will flow into the crypto market. That's good for crypto lovers.
Lifting the ban was done for one reason only and that is to obtain profits for themselves, make no mistake they are being kind of strict now but they will want more profits and this is going to open the door to them relaxing those measures and scammers eventually finding out how to exploit the system, and people will once again will lose their money to the scammers that will advertise in that platform, so it is good in the sense it will attract new people to this market but it is bad as well as many people will be scammed too.

Maybe Google got some pressure from legal authorities because if it is only about the fact that some projects were a scam, Google should also be forced to prevent those guru scammers selling their courses via Youtube advertisements. That way Google legitimizes these guys by lending them the reputation of their own platform. I wish they would be more consequent and not only be that strict when it comes to cryptocurrencies.

One thing is sure. The cryptocurrency market has grown so big, that Google can no longer ignore this sector. A blanket ban is not advisable, as the revenue will be simply diverted to their competitors.
Google was literally not trying to ignore the sector but the scammers were taking full advantage of their advertisement and shilling out contents with scam ICO and scam exchanges as well as phishing sites as advertisement and they started getting tons of complaints regarding that and so is the reason they banned cryptocurrency advertisement for a while and not because they are against the market.

The exchanges that were registered as a business never had any issues in advertising from what i understand and so is the reason you were able to see these advertisements from the exchanges.

About three years ago Google banned cryptocurrency exchange ads. However, online advertising giant Google today scrapped a policy that banned cryptocurrency exchanges from using its advertising services. However, these changes will only take effect in August 2021. Google only releases ads only for some companies, not all However this is a positive thing for us and a great opportunity for future crypto developments and an interesting piece of information that allows the market to pump again

Google lifts ban on cryptocurrency ads related to exchanges and wallets, as long as they are registered with FinCEN.

The platform has banned crypto-related ads, much to the disappointment of those in the crypto community

Google's easing of restrictions on crypto advertising is a sign of a general warming for cryptocurrencies.

This is a great development especially for the crypto community. In a world where everyone is glued to their phone, with most being on Google most of the time, it would be awesome for a crypto ad to pop up. This will help in the propagation of bitcoin and crypto news in general and will ultimately help in the adoption of crypto in the mainstream world.
It is only now that we'd recognised the power that ads, especially from Google, holds. In the same way it has helped increase sales for so many businesses, it will improve adoption of crypto.

I was sure that this would happen. It is unlikely that Google will refuse additional profit.
It's hardly a significant profit for Google. The forbidden foetus is sweet, there is such an expression. And hiding constantly what is in great demand is getting harder and harder every year, especially when a new wave of hype begins
