I didn't expect hamburger team to perform so poorly on the first leg they were totally overwhelmed by stuttgart losing 3 0 means that it is over for them and it will be a miracle if they manage to get promoted it must be really tough for fans to see their team being so close to the promotion and miss it again.

but if we are honest: the team is not good enough for the 1.bundesliga. there are other clubs like bayern münchen or dortmund and many other top teams.
with this team you would probably only collect 20 or 25 points and be relegated directly to the 2.bundesliga.
so the fans will see some successes in the 2023/2024 season. in the 1.bundesliga something like that would probably not be possible.
so it is better that hamburg stays in the 2.bundesliga with this team in the next season.

I disagree as Hamburg is one of those clubs that could raise quite a bit of money and invest it into the team. I am sure they would do it as a restart into the 1. Bundesliga. They are not the Hertha BSC style with an investment of a few hundred million Euro, but they would have had access to decent resources. Whether they would have still pulled a Hertha BSC is another question.

Mentioning Bayern and Dortmund as a reason for Hamburg to better stay in the 2. Bundesliga doesn't makes sense. Nobody is talking about Hamburg conquering the Champions League and become the 1. Bundesliga champion. They would have to establish the club club in the medium term against teams like Augsburg, Bochum, Darmstadt and Heidenheim. That is possible, but now that they lost the first game 0-3 I think it is not worth the effort to think about how Hamburg will be doing in the 1. Bundesliga in the coming year. Next year, next try for them.

I agree. Nobody should expect Hamburger SV to make it into the top 9. If they were be able to finish at place 12 at the end of the season, that would be realistic. Money is not the most important thing. Team spirit is much more important. We can see that very well at Union Berlin. The guys are really into football and not only the players, but everyone in the club lives for it.

the hsv needs faster players in defence. and also the midfield is too slow . and the hsv needs players with character and players who can lead the team properly .
such types like effenberg,matthaus,nogly,memering or similar types in the past. that is what the hamburger sv lacks .
personally i find the style how hamburg plays boring too . it all takes too slow for me . and not one player can hit a good pass over 50 or 60 metres.
if hsv get promoted, boldt and walter have to go. then kühne has to give hsv 150 million euros and the new coach and sporting director have to buy
players with experience and character. but that will never happen.
hamburg is not freiburg or union berlin, who create great teams with little money and play good, interesting football.

Hamburg and Stuttgart meet in the second leg of the play-out series where the last team to compete in the Bundesliga next season will be determined. Hamburger SV has reached 66 points. This would have got them direct promotion the last few years (until 2018). They have scored the most goals this season. So they are not that bad. But you are right about the defence. They scored 26 goals in the second half of the season, making them the seventh worst defence. But you have to say that they had to rebuild their defence because of the loss of Vuskovic and that did not work out well. The defence was also overburdened in the second leg against Stuttgart.
So something should really be done in the defence.

Someone already there. It is Jens Härtel. He was last coach in Hansa Rostock. He was there from January 2019 and was then dismissed in November 2022. He was promoted from League 3 to Bundesliga 2 with Hansa Rostock in 2021.
The sports director at Braunschweig is also new. Now it remains to be seen whether they can form a team that is suitable for Bundesliga 2. Last season they just managed not to be relegated.

Good for hamburger team that they managed to extend the cntract of one of their most important players but am surprised at the same time the player agreed to stay on the team this show how much he love the club, am positive that atleast few of the bundesliga teams wanted to recruit him, scoring 19 goals in the bundesliga 2 is no easy task this shows how surgical Glatzel is, only kleindienst scored more than him.

Absolutely. They absolutely have to strengthen their defence. They were unable to compensate the loss from Vuskovic in the second half of the season. I am also curious to see who will come. But I am just as curious to see who will leave. I think Sonny Kittel was someone who always wanted to leave.

And not only Hertha Berlin. All 36 clubs from Bundesliga 1 and 2 received the licence. It was a question about 60 million at Hertha Berlin. If they had not been able to present it they would have been relegated to League 4.

Hamburger SV can be happy about 30 million euros. That is the sum investor Kühne gave the club. They can use it to strengthen their defence. But maybe they also need to build up the midfield. wait a few more days ... the stadium in stellingen needs a new or old name. the rights to the name volksparstadion expired this year and it can be renegotiated.

Hamburger SV has a new player. Gui Ramos. He is a central defender and comes from Bielefeld. Hamburg did not have to pay anything for him because his contract with Bielefeld expired. His contract at Hamburger SV runs for 3 years.

Ludovit Reis also had a clause in his contract, like Glatzel, that he could leave his contract early for 7.5 million euros. This clause has expired and now he is staying with Hamburger SV until 2026.
