Whether or not the coins return high profit or not if you are planning to invest in any coin for a long term then you should make sure that the coin is potential.

I like it better to put a higher percentage of capital with Bitcoin and Ethereum.
These altcoin goes higher when those two main coins pump up.

Bitcoins is really the best choice when it comes to long-term investment but there are also good altcoins that are worth holding. As for me, we should still be skeptical in picking coins to hold because not all altcoins could last long so long-term holding would fail. On one hand I will agree with you to an extent, and on the other hand I won't agree with you. About the agreement part, CAKE is good because of its unique staking features which holders are already benefiting hugely from it, although it depends on the amount of CAKE but however, holders are still making some sort of passive income. SOL also is another good coin, I have noticed that the recovery of SOL from a bad market is always fast this I think can be attributed to the good nature of the platform.

i think OP called some major coins in market now and all of them have good developtment. Holding altcoin also give us an opportunity to gain profits. There are really places that have made the price during this pandemic to be cheap as the owners that don't have another source of income have to let go of their properties at the cheapest rates that someone will take as quick as it can after putting up on sale.
But as a wise investor, even if you see the price not being cheap but you are looking at the right location and it's your plan to have as much property as you can, it's true that no one can take it away from you thus, it appreciates too despite the situation that we're experiencing.

Well, for me, I spread my capital to different coins, 50% for Bitcoin alone while the other 50% are for 2-3 altcoins. That is correct, if you have under 500 dollars most of the time it doesn't make sense to actually invest into bitcoin, at the end of the day it is basically something that can make you another 500 or even maybe 1000 but that is about it for now (you make 1000 profit only if bitcoin is 120k, that is not soon enough) however if you invest into some other smaller stuff there is a good chance that you could basically make as much profit as you can imagine because it is something unlimited in the nature of going up, we have seen some alts going up 9000000%+, obviously very low volume coin getting pump and dumped or something like that so it is not common and normal to see that, but the logic is there, you may end up buying a coin for 10 dollars and sell at 1000 dollars, it is not impossible.

There's no consistency in crypto as everything that goes up right now might see them falling in the next days. Even bitcoin and ethereum are no exception to that.

The coins that you mentioned OP might have lower prices this time but it's not enough reason to invest in them for long term just because of their current price. Yeah, bitcoin, ethereum, bnb, swipe, uni , cake, matic, dot. These are the coins I am very long on and I believe that they will make me a good profit. I have been keeping most of them for a very long time, matic is new for me, dot is a few month old (bought around a month before crash) and swipe is around march, cake is nearly 9-10 months, and btc/eth/bnb is few years for now.
