As the planned unification fight with Caleb Plant fails to materialize, Eddie Hearns wants Canelo to fight Bivol this 18th of September for the latter's Light Heavyweight title. There are rumors that this could be on a catchweight between 168 and 175 lbs. Both fighters will be moving on their weights for the fight so I think Canelo would be having trouble on this fight, what do you think guys?

I like the fight but I don't like they to be in a catchweight, Canelo has fought once in LHW already defeating Kovalev. Although they have admitted that he won't be fighting at LHW and obviously goes down to 168 as his home weight. However, Bivol is the champion in LHW, so for Canelo to be really called LHW champion he needs to go back up again to 175 lbs so that there will be no excuses or arguments if he beats Bivol.

Yeah, just throw everything at Canelo's way because he is still in his prime and on a destruction path whether MW or LHW. Bivol is good, legitimate LHW and power in both hands. But I do think that Alvarez is going to be too smart for him. Canelo has a good chin and has a good defense, so I don't know how Bivol is going to touch Alvarez. So regardless of catchweight, Canelo by either TKO or UD.

Yes, Canelo already defeats Kovalev at 175, therefore he can beat LHW champs no problem. But Canelo seems to realize that his best weight isn't 175. Imagine if Bivol agrees to fight at near 168, I think his chance is extremely slim. I've read Bivol's record and found it unimpressive. Only 18 wins with boxers who their name I've never heard. Bivol's hope only if Canelo agrees to fight at 175, betting that he won't be in his optimum condition to fight.

That was a draw, maybe you call that almost but Canelo won in the rematch, so that fight is over.

Gennadiy Golovkin has not fought this year yet, but if he will be given a chance for a Trilogy, then I guess it will be interesting and we will see the fans from both sides supporting their favorite fighter.

Back to the topic, I guess this is just one of the fighters that he will dominate.

So this fight is tentative but I hope it will be officially announced Dmitry Bivol is undefeated with a good powerful straight punch, but like the majority of Russian boxers his body is stiff, something that will be to his disadvantage as Canelo is very good at finding an angle, I don't think this is a serious threat to Canelo's supremacy, he is powerful but his lack of lateral movements is something that will be exploited by Canelo.

canelo has to go up. this is yet not a confirmed date, they'd have to move the date further so he'd get used to his weight and not put his title to a disadvantage. he can't take the risk all because he is in his prime.

this could be a good fight, fun to watch big guys fight because of possible outcome.

I don't think he should, he is on top of his game and he is just starting out you are the only one who thinks he should, I still love to see Canelo Alvarez fight, there's a lot of science on how he fought, there's still a lot of money to be made and at the same time making himself great and setting more records.

Ever since his loss with Mayweather, Canelo has been dominating the middleweight class on his own. He improved so much and learned from that fight alone which makes him a very dangerous opponent to anything.

To be honest, I do think that Canelo is still in his prime. His destructive raw power and skill can outclass any opponent on his weight division which puts him at the top middleweight fighters of all time.

Compared to the fight of Pacquiao, I am more confident seeing Canelo win against this match; thus, I'll be betting on this fight 100%.

Even I think the same. Canelo might have less weight than Bivol but he still has better defense than Bivol according to me.
Bivol is a good player in himseld but I think Canelo is smarter and can execute his punches better than Bivol.
It will be a good fight to watch as the competition is tough. We can't really predict so easily who is gonna win the match.

The last time I read about his injury, he says the operation went well, so hopefully he can go back and fight again. But I do hope that it is not a Margarito extend injury, which ended his career after a hard beating from Pacquiao. Kell Brook comeback from the same injury after the GGG fight. And so is Inoue after the first Donaire fight.

Who invented those catchweights anyways? Pacquiao become a champion fighting in catchweight as well and so far that argument doesn't hold strong regarding this status as one the greatest and a legendary. So I think this will also be the case for Canelo, even at catchweight fight he still could be considered one of the best in this era.

He fought one time in the LHW division and beat a former champ, it does take him more rounds though, but in the end it was the same result, Canelo by KO. Of course, that's why he bolted out of his contract with Golden Boy because of the money dispute, so he is after making big money.

He still has Caleb Plant in the radar, it's supposed to be him and not Bivol, maybe there are some disagreements. But I don't think he will retire, he is still at his prime, although I agree that he is cleaning up the division from Middleweight to Light Heavy. Maybe he can give GGG a trilogy for his biggest paycheck before thinking of retirement.

This Russian is a power puncher but so does the majority of fighters Canelo beats in the past, I don't see anything extraordinary on his style except he has a good straight but Canelo is very flexible and good at angles and combination, even if they fight in a catchweight Canelo will still beat, this is a very interesting fight considering Bivol is undefeated.

Yeah, read it as well, so this fight is going to be cancelled, not enough time for training for both and not enough time to promote the fight so obviously, Canelo look for their first option which is Caleb fight.

September is fight month for Canelo though, but it any case a November bout with Caleb Plant is still good for us boxing fans. This is the last belt that Canelo needed to complete his 168 lbs championship belt.

Good, I wanted to see Canelo fight Caleb first and then see how it goes. For sure he will be the favourite against Caleb and I think it will be much easier fight than him. For me, Billy Joe Saunders is the most complete fighter, but look at what Canelo did to him, broke his eye socket.

So a Canelo win will setup him up to either Bivol or Beterbiev in the future for the light-heavyweight belt.

I have to check Youtube to see who is this guy, he has a good record but unfortunately, he only fought patsy and unknown fighters who are not in the league of Canelo, he is a strong puncher judging from his knock out ratio, but I don't think he can match Alvarez's power, skills and ring generalship, Canelo will be an overwhelming favorite here, but Bivol will likely make money here.
