But I always choose to invest into more credible altcoins. By saying credible, I mean that the ones that I examined the project in detail and decided as it is one of the promising projects. Holding coin for a very long time is really good and it yield profit, but it depends on how strong the project team and how good the project is, because some sheet coins end up as dead coins. So holding coin is good but always keep focus on the project by following all their handles for information and some promotion about the coin.

And some are yielding profits and some not, it's like that in the crypto world! Of course, I would include timing in this, some coins had their peaks already and they will not return to their previous heights, while some will...
Crypto is a world for itself, and while some people like to generalize and look for patterns I don't think it's really possible with crypto, simply there are too many surprises around, and it's hard to make a long term plan that is completely safe and without the risks! I guess the way the market is looking right now, altcoin will pump massively if we hold long for future. Since bitcoin price has hit $60k few days ago show that altcoin is about to pump for those long term investors to start earning reliable profits from their investment.
According to some researchers, anyone that can hold altcoin more than 2 to 3 years will be part of this progress when the price pump they will be involve in profits makin. It depends on what altcoins you are holding. Not all coins have the same good future and are worth holding for long. You should not hold for long based on the speculation that their price will be pumped more. Don't buy the hype. Keep a coin to hold for long based on fundamentals and how you see the development is progressing.

It's not wrong to sell. You can buy it back later on. The key is, you know how to play your coins. But if you are a true believer and decide to hodl to death, it's up to you.

Not holding any altcoin makes a profit as you say, it depends on the altcoins you are holding. If you hold shitcoins for a long time and wait for them to be pumped it's just a waste. I've said this a couple of times already around the forum, and I don't mind saying it again: you don't just hodl (any) coins, that's somewhat the reason why research is a very important and indispensable aspect of crypto investment, and it is expected of an investor to have done his or her research effectively before going on to invest.

Why this research is necessary is to know the kind of coins you're going to invest in, and to also find out if they are long or short term projects, thus it's not only about hodling, it's actually more of what coins are you holding; if they are pump and dump coins, the best thing to do is to take profits when you get them, but if they are long term projects then we can now talk about hodling it for a long time.

Learn the market cycles and keep invest during bear season. Holding long term will definitely help you to sell at a higher price unless you are impatient. Trading short-term is not recommended for obvious reasons. Short-term trading should be full-time, not everyone has the time to watch the market and decide which pair goes up or down, in my opinion. Sure the altcoin pump is going to happen but you need to consider the background and future of investing in that coin? . If only invest in shitcoins then I think it will be very hard to pump back especially for memes it only inflates the price with temporary hype and will drop quickly after that, invest in atlcoins such as ETH , BNB , ADA , XRP , SOL ... Most recently SOL is one of the atlcoins with a strong ecosystem

I agree, I also have a lot of altcoins that I keep for the long term.
long-term savings for altcoins must be seen from the marketcap project and also the community.
Altcoins that have good fundamentals are very worthy of long-term investment because the value of the altcoin will grow rapidly.

IMHO, it's not about how we can hold long, but it's the art of trading. Do you want to keep holding it even if you see big profits in front of your eyes? and then dump after that? Crypto itself is about volatility so naturally, the price will go up and then facing some correction or even be dumped. A strong holder is good, which means we believe in the project but be a smart holder too. If there's a big pump why not sell it? we can re-buy when the price is dumped.

Maybe the OP hints at the possibility of reviving dead coins. Imagine that one day some wealthy trader starts to massively buy some worthless altcoin on cryptocurrency exchanges. As in a dream, people will sell him this altcoin long abandoned by its team. As long as you’re holding a good cryptocurrency there is a good chance that you’re going to benefit from it on the long run. But it’s not a must that you’re going to be a long term holder, there are people who also prefer to be trading for a short term, so whatever you think is working for you, you should be focusing on that. As long as you’re holding a good cryptocurrency there is a good chance that you’re going to benefit from it on the long run.
