What you said deciphered that holding is not a universal door that can go straight to riches, a lot of altcoins have had at least a few glorious eras and seasons but their nametags were crossed out in the following seasons just because of a little misstep, this altcoin is not too lonely when people of that generation are also buried in the same place as a historical relic, called the dead and unlucky lands. This is not a case of all the altcoins , I would say it's a 50:50 ratio as sometimes even most trusted altcoin fails to pump and we cam take example of Ripple as it crossed during the end and then it was dumped but till date it's yet to break that marka md those who have invested into it during the peak are still waiting for breakeven.

Unfortunately, we will not know when the pump will coming because that will depend on how big the demand happens in the market. But the real holder will have their patient to hold for long and earn massive profits in the future. If we want to be like them, we need to learn how to hold our coins without worrying about the market situation. So if you have a good altcoin in your wallet and are sure the coin will increase or get a pump in the future, you must hold on tight to the coin and not panic when the price is down.

I agree with you, HODL is still the best strategy for the average investors. Sure skilled traders will make bigger profits, but if we just hold good crypto currencies than we will profit if their long term price increases. Both for alt coins and bitcoins HODL became my favourite strategy. You don't have to stay up to date to the market every day. As long as we can identify the big bear and bull markets we are fine. For me crypto currencies are like a savings account, if I have spare money I will add it to my portfolio and only if I really need the money I would consider selling some crypts again into fiat money. There is a difference between people who only look at crypto currencies as a way to make some quick money, and people who actually believe in it and think that it will be the future of money and how we send and receive money.

Holding has already being proven to be the most profitable long term but the problem is not everyone has the patience to hold, especially holding good project like eth, btc, bnb is the beginning of project launch, not all alts has that capability even if you hold them for long, it is important to be able to identify to those alts that are worth  holding in other not to waste time on worthless projects.

Holding altcoins for a long time can be beneficial but only if the altcoin is worth investing.
Those having fake investors behind them may result in a great loss and you also lose your interest in other coins too.

Not all altcoins are good for a long term investment, there is still a lot of altcoins that cannot survive when the bear market started, that's why this is always really important to do our own research first before we invest in a certain coin, only good altcoin can still recover from the bear market, invest in a coin that has a long term plan and good dev's team identity.

Not old coin as well, especially those coins that have low trading volume, I have already done investing in an old coin and it really makes me lose my money.

You can't tell unless there are good improvement to those coins that you are holding, old or new coins that have progress will continue to have support from the community, you need to work hard in sorting which coins have that usages and have great addition to this industry, with that knowledge it will be easier to anticipate how that coins will perform in the long run.

Hold coins that have real target venues, project that will not only focus on hypes or those coins that only created for pump and dump.

There is no relation between the holding and pumping of altcoins. If we are lucky then we can make profit by holding Altcoin. However, I am not in favor of holding a long term.  Because the market has already pumped a lot. How many more pumps will be from here.

I am sure that it is the explanation of the situation, isn't it? I mean if everyone holds long then it is going to be going up. It is from the people that sell constantly that makes it go down and that is going to be for a long time, that is how the market works. I believe that we do not hold long because of few reasons, there are people who do not care about a project and just want to make a profit and that is how they get into stuff and that is understandable, if you are not caring about the project and just want to make a profit then you are going to end up losing money if you hold long and still do not care, so it makes sense to sell.

If you are worried that it will go down then getting out makes sense too, and there are panic sellers as well. Long story short people will end up selling as long as the market keeps working and that is the problem that we have and alts not going up constantly.

Unfortunately, there is a flood of altcoins out there so the risk is, that your coin will fade away and be replaced by hyped meme tokes which have spread like cancer lately. For me, this show we are coming close to another market crash. There cant be so much useless money out there in shitcoins that there is now.

I absolutely agree with you that long-term holders will win on this market. But not all coins will survive in the long term so we should choose carefully and wisely what coins to hold based on what utility these altcoins offer to the market. Most altcoins will just depreciate and be abandoned, so you will be left with nothing if you make a failure and negligent choice.

One of the coins that I am slowing buying is the Divi Project. I think a lot of people are overlooking and shouldn't be is DIVI. It has some massive potential and could easily have a lot more gains the others. You can also get passive income by staking it in the official DIVI mobile wallet or create a node yourself in a few clicks. This is my opinion, do you own research of course.

Yess same at first i think DIVI is just like oh cool i got some new portfolio new coin, and decide to sell my DIVI from tipcc instead before i know that would be huge from someone. I myself only consider 3-4 altcoins that I studied before investing and to put in my portfolio and hold it to have profits. Depending on the altcoins, some will only be good for a short-term and some are best for long-term investment like bitcoin and eth or even NFT.

Just be careful OP because there are lots of altcoins today and most altcoins can't give you competitive returns. Don't be fooled and give yourself some knowledge before you invest.

If you keep believing on false hopes, even if you hold those altcoins for 2-4 years, you will never end up profitable.
