Some people think that because they have discretionary income, they should buy more than before when the price drops. In fact, there is no such rule.
Your level of aggressiveness towards your accumulation is up to your own discretion, but try to understand that as long as you stay within the confinement of your discretionary income, then you are fine, I don't know where you heard that you cannot buy at any pace of your choice within your discretionary income. First, it is necessary to consider whether that discretionary income can really be invested or if there are future expenses, urgent needs, or family responsibilities. Of course, there are some people who, when they see a price drop, think that if they cannot buy more now, the opportunity will be gone.
Am really disappointed in you because you have been in the forum since 2021 but you are not learning. You are not even aware that investment in Bitcoin is best made with our discretionary income, which is the funds that is left, after all our basic expenses have been made, so you shouldn't be talking about other responsibilities, if you have truly sorted them out. Emergency needs are taken care of with your emergency funds that is kept aside from your discretionary income, with the aim of protecting your investment against any real life emergencies, so try to learn fast so that you wouldn't misled newbies .

I mean no disrespect by this, but what are you saying? it seems like you have lost the exact sight of how important a discretionary funds are when it comes to investing in bitcoin. It clearly shows that you don’t even have the clue of what discretionary income is, because if you knew the meaning of discretionary income then you won’t be emphasizing on family responsibilities and any form of expenses. when Clearly all those are taken care of and which is why we called it discretionary income because it’s the money left after taking care of our necessities. so technically the money can be said to be extra funds with no responsibility attached to it because it all taken care of.

You are correct to say that discretionary funds are needed to invest into bitcoin, since if a person is buying bitcoin with non-discretionary funds, then they are trading or gambling since they need that money to pay for their expenses.
You are wrong in your proclamation that guys need to prepare to buy the dip.
So get the fuck out of here with such nonsense attempts to characterize dip buying as superior, when it is not.
It tends to be much better for guys to be buying consistently, persistently, ongoingly, regularly and perhaps even aggressively, than waiting around for dips that may or may not end up happening, especially guys who might not have a lot of money and especially guys who might rarely get opportunties to lump sum buy bitcoin.
Buying the dip could supplement (or hedge) lump sum buying and even supplement when a lot of money had already been put into bitcoin at a certain price.. but those kinds of things are not normal and regular for an overwhelming majority of normal and regular people who would be way the fuck better off to work on buying bitcoin regularly and also perhaps strengthening their cashflow to figure out how much bitcoin that they can regularly buy on a weekly-ish basis rather than getting caught up on trying to figure out whether dips are going to come or not.. probably especially their first 1-2 cycles in bitcoin, which is 4-8 years.
I agree with that anyone who don't invest discretionary income is not investment, rather a trading or the person is just gambling. That's why it's always advisable to settle or covered all the your expenses or bills, then use any available discretionary income readily and invest into bitcoin for a long-term period, waiting for the dips is total waste of time, because the only things you will be doing is watching how the bitcoin price goes, while your target price never comes. So building a strong bitcoin position through your normal regularly stacking. As a newbie just have the confidence and long-term patience.

They fail to realise that discretionary income is the money after budgeting for every expenses including unforseen expenses that cover emergency funds too. If you only budget for basic needs and assume the remaining money is your discretionary income, then you're only gambling because the discretionary income might become a money needed for other responsibilities. The reality is, not everyone actually has discretionary income yet, what they have is assumption of discretionary income and that's why many people struggle to hold for a longer term because what they are investing with is not actually a discretionary income.

Yeah he’s got it all wrong and mixed up, the discretionary income is used for investing but that doesn’t mean you should invest all of it unless you have already have a substantial backup funds then you can afford to be 100% aggressive into bitcoin. To make one slight correction on your part @Big Dirams; Discretionary income isn’t just free money or extra money without any responsibility because it has it’s own responsibilities. As you use your main income to satisfy your needs your discretionary income satisfies your wants. It is used to invest, save and/or discretionary spend.

I do not see anything wrong if someone decides to go all in with their discretionary income if they have or sees an opportunity to do that, since the job of the discretionary is to invest so there is nothing wrong because you will still grow another one from your source of income. discretionary income is an extra cash, a leftover cash, remaining cash after all needs must have been taken care of but yea, this does not mean it is not useful of course it is very useful yet it is someone that will make it to be this useful because there are people who make their discretionary income look useless by using it wrongly.

That just it. This are we’re a lot of people do get confused about what discretionary income actually means. In a case were by you pay for your rent and buy groceries and any extra needs, then the remaind funds you sebd it directly into Bitcoin. In this kinda of case you have not calculate your discretionary income yet. You just skipped out the aspect of setting some money aside for things like emergency savings, family needs or even future bills. A true discretionary income is actually what remains after when your living expenses, emergency funds contributions and short term savings are being fully taken cared of. If you invest true discretionary funds. You can wacht Bitcoin to drop from 30% to even 50% without having to panic, this because the funds not have any real life responsibility tired to it. But if you invest any money that has a real life responsibility tired to it and expecting to use it any time soon. Any sudden dip that happens is going to force you to panic I would want to sell at a loss. When your budget is being airtight first, peace of mind will be a home.

what kills many people is actually not lack of intelligences but the dirty mindset of thinking that investing into bitcoin requires huge amount of funds, or till they become rich so that they will waite for lump sum, which may never comes thier way.
The way people see bitcoin often depend on their mindsets. Your Investment in bitcoin begins in your mind,so if you have that mindset that bitcoin is a get rich scheme where you can pack quick money within a few days, that is because your plan was to exploit bitcoin for minimal gains rather than to invest in it for the long term. This dirty mindset is the reason why some people invest in bitcoin so that they can chase quick profit, and because of that, they have not been able to build wealth in bitcoin. Chasing after quick gains isn't the right way to make significant profits in bitcoin, you are just doing yourself more harm than good because whatever you I'll gain for selling your bitcoin early is just from hand to mouth. As a newbie investor, thinking about quick profits is wrong, you shouldn't use profits as your main reason you are investing in bitcoin because with such mentality, you might sell your bitcoin portfolio each time that you see profits. Your main focus should be to figure out your discretionary income to invest in bitcoin using the DCA and hold for the long term, profits isn't ruining.

It's you that don't know what discretionary income means because you are only to take care of your basic needs and monthly expenses, the leftover is your discretionary income. You don't take out emergency funds, contributions and short term savings before you say the leftover is discretionary income because there might be nothing left over very little amount left. It's from your discretionary income that you are to take part of it to build your emergency funds by dividing it into three equal parts. the first part for your weekly DCA, the second part for building your emergency funds simultaneously with your bitcoin investment and the last part for your discretionary consumption.

You literally mixing things up here, the definition of discretionary income with that of a budgeting strategy. By the definition in finance, discretionary income is the money that is left after all your basic necessities, living costs, and short term obligations ( including emergency savings) are taken care of. Read more : https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/discretionaryincome.aspIn the aspect we’re you are taking money out of your discretionary income to build up your emergency fund than that money was never a discretionary in the first place. It was essential financial obligation. For your 3 part split strategy, it fine to allocate leftover cash. But calling money discretionary before your emergency cushion is built that really dangerous. Once a real life emergency happens and you haven’t built up your cash fund yet, you are going to be forced to dump your Bitcoin at a loss to pay for it. A safety net first then a true discretionary stacking.

Preference doesn't necessarily tell about the best strategy for anyone because that you chose to travel through the ocean to a country doesn't make it the best and here we are talking about the best strategy on a general ground not personal preference that can be rolling in ignorance. Some people's preference is just because of who guided them. For example, there is possibility of someone who have been trading but now decide to hold to continue with buy the dip strategy and that doesn't make it the best strategy. You're right about any having their choice concerning what they feel is the best strategy but it doesn't make them right, buying the dip or lumpsum aren't bad strategies but we're talking about something that would make investing easier for a beginner or anyone, a strategy that makes it possible for everyone including poor and rich to own Bitcoin. If anyone think other strategies are better they're free to use them but in this thread and forum, people who understand Bitcoin investment to a good extent would always advised people especially beginners to use the DCA strategy for investment.
