This is just a commemorative belt to celebrate British boxers

Maybe it also includes countries of boxers that have won the WBC because I can see the Nigeria flag there and that will be because Samuel Peter the Nigeria nightmare once won the WBC title when he defeated Oleg Maskaev in 2008. Peter does not have British citizenship.

I think having names on the belt might not be appropriate now because previous champions never held the belt with their name on it.

Even that apart, it will be a bad idea because it will mean every time there is a new champion, a new belt will be produced and the one without the champion's name condemned. It will be costing extra money and energy to the boxing federation.

I never paid attention to the flags on the belt. They represent country of those who participate in "race to become a champion" or this is just flags of all countries in he world (seems little) ? Stanley cup has names of all its winners. If this is these are countries of champions, then I cant remember anyone from Cyprus being a boxing world heavy champ.

I like that the belts leather if white (sorry BLM, that is not that case), looks new and fresh. Previous green looked cheap. Dont know why they put two flowers. Pictures of former champs looked great also. Too bad the belt cant fit all of them.
I think the most likely answer is that all of those countries form part of the members of the WBC, for example I do not know if this is still true but there was a time in which FIFA, the federation in control of soccer all over the world, had more members than the UN.

So I would not be surprised that boxing associations have so many affiliated countries to them, after all boxing is a sport that is extremely popular and unlike soccer it does not need extensive installations and even many armies around the world include boxing as part of their training.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/17719329/tyson-fury-dillian-whyte-boxing-fight-deadline/

Tyson Fury has sent a message to Dillian Whyte saying he needs to sign the contract for the fight to go ahead otherwise he can move on Fury will find another opponent. Fury is clearly getting frustrated at the delays being caused by Whyte.

John Fury (father of Tyson Fury) has told Dillian Whyte to stop delaying the signing of the contract. The fight is scheduled to go ahead on 23rd April 2022 but Whyte has not signed the contract because he is still trying to get a larger share of the purse. He says he should receive a guaranteed 30% share but he is getting significantly less: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/boxing/tyson-fury-dillian-whyte-fight-b2019494.html

I still think the fight will go ahead because Whyte needs this far more than Fury needs it.

I still think the fight will go ahead because Whyte needs this far more than Fury needs it.

Finally, Dillian Whyte signed that contract yesterday and the bout will hold in two months time on April 23. The boxing world is agog with excitement. Fury who had talked tough before now said he was going into intense preparation for the match and will stay off social media to avoid distraction. He sounded like someone who now thinks Whyte will not be an easy match. I still believe the match will be won by Fury. And I want it to stay that way. I believe the match will be the highest pay Whyte will be having in his career at $8 million.

Whyte had no other choice but to sign the contract because he needs this fight more than Fury does and he is the mandatory challenger, he signed it with only just a few hours left until the deadline. Even if Whyte still talks about the purse, it's already useless because he was only offered 20 percent of it and he already signed it, so he ain't gonna make it higher.

Maybe Fury's camp would be kind enough to give another 5%. Aside from that, having a 20% is a big deal and it is the biggest payout Whyte have got in his career.

Fury's team will be idiots to consider extra 5% for Whyte. What do you think will make them consider such charity when boxing is not a charity? That will be a wrong move to make after the deal has already been sealed. Even with 20% it is still Whyte's biggest pay for a bout. It is from that angle that Fury thinks he is doing Whyte a favour.

Giving an extra 5 percent to Whyte won't mean that Fury's camp are idiots, nor makes the boxing a charity. I think you misunderstood the whole context because you cut it, I think he meant that maybe Fury's camp would be kind to give him an extra 5% to make the deal faster and that's even before Whyte has signed the contract and not afterwards because Whyte already knows that he won't getting any after he signed it.

I said he was always going to sign it. He was probably just trying to hardball some extra cash out of the fight. Can't blame him but he was never going to walk away from the biggest fight and payday of his career.

After Whyte, he wants the winner of Usyk/AJ and then the Francis Ngannou superfight. That would be a great ending trilogy to Tyson's career.

You think he will end his career after several fights? There is still Joseph Parker that might give Fury some troubles. What about fourth fight against Wilder? That will be hilarious and really humiliating if he wins.

Situation with Fury might turn into situation with Canelo, when there are no more new opponent to beat. With Canelo, there are options to change fighting division, with Fury - doubtfully. That the only option for him to fight, Ruiz for example, looser of Usyk/AJ.

I don't know, but he's mentioned possible retirement before. Lets look at it realistically. We're lucky if we get one fight a year from the super-star heavyweights these days. He's 33 now so those three fights are likely to take him to 36-37. Realistically how long does he want to keep fighting? He's arguably still at his peak right now but one loss will change that and is that something he wants to lose? Being undefeated he'll go down as one of the greatest boxers of all time and a loss would severely dent that. I really can't see him doing more than 2 or 3 fights after the Whyte fight. Who else is there? Do the winner of AJ/Usyk, get all the belts, then have one novelty cross-promo fight with Ngannou and call it quits. It's not like he needs the money and seems to live quite humbly for the most part so I don't think he's going to be one of those boxers that is fighting pushing 40 and keeps coming out of retirement for another payday.

The reason is Eddie Hearn the promoter was able to attract only one bidder for the fight while the promoter of Tyson Fury, Frank Warren got a bid for $41 million and Tyson Fury will be getting the majority of the purse, If Eddie Hearn was able to attract a much bigger bid then he would be getting a much bigger purse and still this is the biggest paycheck Whyte will be earning.

Hearn claims Whyte was always going to sign the contract but he was playing mind games with Fury. I think Fury does not care about the mind games, he just wants to get Whyte in the ring so he can defeat him.

Yeah, that would be the case. Whyte knows the deadline but he had to chase some time so that he can get something more of that purse but sadly he didn't got any. And Fury didn't ate the bait that Whyte have set because he doesn't care about those mind games at all and just like you said, he was just eager to fight and finish Whyte as soon as possible so that he can find another opponent to fight this year.

Votes in Poll: 25
Fury win: 23
Whyte win: 2
Draw: 0

92% have voted for Fury to won this fight, only 8% have voted for Whyte to win.

I think this could end with a TKO if Whyte is stubborn and brave enough to not want to get knocked out. If he is focused then Whyte might even be able to go the distance but he will not be able to win. I think Fury will not have too much trouble beating Whyte.

I got your point but Whyte have no other choice either but to just sign the contract and accept the deal that he is just only entitled 20% of the cut. Besides, there's actually no need to fret on those things because this is his biggest paycheck in his whole career. Also it is already kind of obvious that Whyte is just trying to get into Fury's head but the funny thing is Fury doesn't care.

At the end it happened what we knew it would happen, Whyte had no option but to sign as he had no leverage at all in this fight and he was easily replaceable in the case he decided to not accept.

And when we add that this will be probably the best payout that he is ever going to get the incentive to sign the contract as it was stipulated was simply too great, I do not blame him for trying to get more money, after all who does not like more money for the same job, however it would have been a mistake to let go of this fight because of that reason, fortunately for us he did not made that mistake and now we can see the gypsy king once again above the ring.

Since this is the biggest paycheck of his career he needs to shape up and put all his best effort, he has so many things to gain and nothing to lose here, while Fury can lose everything in this fight, I don't rule out an upset because Whyte has knock out power but it can only come if Fury allows it, Fury is fast strong and has a good ring generalship but inside the ring, there's a lot of unexpected scenarios.

Mind games wont work much against Tyson Fury, but he was getting nervous that Dillian Whyte will not accept the fight and if that is the case he needs to find another dance partner to fight for his fans in his native country . Fact is Hearn failed to negotiate a better deal for Whyte Cheesy and after this one he will be fighting Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua and he might possible retire for good as an undefeated boxer.

Good news, only two months left before the fight.
Are there bookmaker quotes for this fight already? Judging by the results of the poll (I also voted for Fury), bookmakers will quote Fury as 1.08-1.1. It hardly makes sense to bet with such odds. However, these are heavyweights and one blow can decide the outcome of the entire fight, so Whyte has a chance to win.

Overwhelmingly the odds should be in favour of Fury to win and rightly so but as I mentioned in posts I made in my Joshua vs Usyk and Fury vs Wilder III threads - this is heavyweight boxing and anything can happen when one powerful punch connects catching the receiver off guard.

Fury has been on the canvas when Cunningham caught him. He also hit the canvas a couple of times against Wilder too. If Fury gets hit with a powerful punch from Whyte, then he could hit the floor but will get up. What are the chances of Whyte getting up from the mandatory count if Fury knocks him down?

The first Whyte vs Povetkin fight gives a clear indication of why Fury will win but in the rematch Whyte demonstrated why is dangerous and that is why Fury made a statement saying he was leaving social media to focus on his training because Whyte deserved all the respect as he was the WBC number one contender. Fury showed respect to Whyte but in the ring he will show him no mercy.
