UPDATE: Fury wins by knockout in round 6 !

TYSON FURY
VS
DILLIAN WHYTE

23rd April 2022

$41 million blockbuster battle between two British fighters
for the WBC heavyweight championship is going ahead

Fury: $29.5 million
Whyte: $7.4 million
Bonus for winner: $4.1 million

Tyson Fury is going to fight Dillian Whyte for the WBC world heavyweight belt.

That means Joshua will not be taking a fee to step aside to allow Fury to fight Usyk. The re-match between Joshua and Usyk is going to happen too with the winner probably going to have a unification fight with the winner of this fight.

The WBC effectively forced Fury and Whyte to negotiate but allowed Fury to $29.5 million and Whyte will get $7.4 million but the WBC did something they have not done before, they have decided to give 10% of the money to the winner as a bonus which equates to another $4.1 million on top of their share.

Matchroom Boxing (Hearn) bid $32 million but Queensberry Promotions (Warren) bid $41 million and that means Whyte gets the opportunity to fight Fury most probably in the UK. Fury tweeted: "BIG GK IS COMING HOME, UK BABY"

Who do you think will win the fight? Take part in the thread poll   Grin

At least he accepts defeat now instead on whining like a baby and saying random reasons.lol

Sorry for OT,
In topic reply on which i wouldnt really be having no doubts on betting with the GK. Whyte isnt the type that could level with Wilder in terms of fight performance imho.

Massive purse, and I'm honestly glad to see Whyte get his chance finally, while also getting a decent purse despite only having 20 percent. Obviously, I'll be routing for Fury, with hope still in my heart that the Joshua, and Fury fight happens. However, I hope it's an absolute war on the night. I think Fury goes back to his technical boxing with this one, and avoids too much trouble. If I was going to bet money on it, I'd probably go with a Fury decision since you'll get decent odds because of his recent history with Wilder.

Although, I think the knockouts came from Wilder's lack of defense, and the fact that Fury had to change his style to make sure that the fight didn't go to the decision after the absolute robbery of the first fight.

The absolute cherry on top is I'm hearing this is going to take place in Cardiff. I might actually have to try, and get me some tickets.

That means Joshua will not be taking a fee to step aside to allow Fury to fight Usyk. The re-match between Joshua and Usyk is going to happen too with the winner probably going to have a unification fight with the winner of this fight.
It's disappointing, but it does give Joshua the chance to get his belts back, as well as his pride. Then, hopefully Fury gets the win, and we can finally have the big fight we've all been waiting for all these years. I'm not betting any money on it happening though.

I don't actually think Joshua is going to get the win though, unless he goes back to how he used to fight, and put it all on the line, and look to knock out Usyk. That's the only path to victory I see for him, as he's definitely not going to outbox him.

Warren posted a video on Twitter of Fury talking about Whyte: https://twitter.com/frankwarren_tv/status/1486635271772946437?cxt=HHwWioC-yea5y6EpAAAA

I can’t wait to punch Dillian Whyte’s face right in mate.  I’m going to give him the best hiding he’s ever had in his life, boy. Dillian Whyte, train hard sucker ‘cos you’re getting annihilated, bum.

They both decided to forget they knew each other in their early days working together and are now just resorting to insults

That's the way of combat sports, right? If you aren't slagging off one of your old training partners or friends, are you even doing it right? In all seriousness, most fighters likely know it's to sell fights, and I'm pretty damn sure that the promoters encourage this sort of behaviour. You do get the odd few which are a little more tamer, but Fury has been known to pull all sorts of shenanigans in the build up to a fight. Just look at when he turned up in a batman suit.

I don't read too much into the trash talk before a fight these days, unless they do actually have a history. For example, Conor vs Khabib in the UFC while partly was for building the fight up, it most certainly did get real towards the end.

It's finally confirmed, I thought that Fury - Usyk fight is the one that will materialize but it's good that we have this fight on two fighters throwing insults to each other, Fury will be the heavy favorite here but I never rule out an upset Whyte is a very stubborn fighter with power that can rock any boxer, I'm thinking what if Whyte upset Fury, this will create a disruption in the heavyweight division with Fury, Wilder, and Joshua having losses,  things will be interesting if there's an upset and it will create build-up for fights against former champions.

Not the kind of a blockbuster match I'd say. But still a great fight nonetheless. Although I think Fury will have a much easier opponent in Whyte than in Wilder, Joshua, Uysk, or others. I guess Fury will be a heavy favorite in this match with odds as low as 1.10 to 1.30.

It would have been a much more exciting fight had Joshua made way for a Fury-Usyk match but it is, of course, fair for Joshua to have a second match with Usyk. He deserves it. But since I think Usyk will still prevail the second time they will face each other, what's next would be the anticipated Fury-Usyk unification bout.

Money wise? Yeah, one of the biggest purse including the bonus, and Whyte finally get his needed pay check as a heavyweight and have a chance to upset the balance if ever he upsets Fury here.

Joshua get to exorcise his demon against Usyk first before he can get to Fury for a good paycheck. So he is not stepping aside and let the Fury-Usyk fight.

And most likely winner of this fight gets the winner of Joshua vs Usyk.

So far here in this forum it's 6-0 for Fury after his great showing against Wilder I don't he will lose a vote especially against someone like Whyte who tasted a huge knock from Alexander Povetkin who is an aging fighter[/quote]

Joshua takes revenge on his first loss just when everyone thinks he cannot revenge his first loss, I don't see why he can't get his revenge we should give Joshua a chance to prove himself again, Fury -Usyk or Fury - Joshua is still a good fight any fight about Fury is exciting and worth watching because of Fury's animated character outside and inside the ring.

You think this is another great fight? This is another great fight mate because Whyte seems to have changed lately and to be honest, he was among the fighter I don't like to watch his fight before because he does a lot of talking than fighting in the ring but I was impressed he won his previous fight and he seems to be hungry for more win and this fight we make us know his current stance in boxing.

About Anthony's rematch, I think we are going to see revenge but Anthony needs to do a lot of homework and never make the same mistake again.

To be fair to Whyte he is the WBC number one contender and he earned that right by coming off a shock defeat to Povetkin only to bounce back and win the rematch. He deserves every bit of the $7.4 million, I agree with you.

And yes, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff if being mentioned as the most probable location. Maybe you will get a chance to go there and see the fight in the stadium.

As for Joshua, he denied ever being offered any money to step aside to allow Fury fight Usyk but Fury taunted him saying he lost an opportunity to earn $90 million (around $20 million to stand aside and then a massive purse to fight the winner of Fury vs Usyk and all the promotion and commercial contracts that go with it) but having said that Joshua denied it. Now his promoter Hearn has lost the opportunity to stage this fight and have his own undercard. Joshua can now focus on trying to win the rematch against Usyk with a guaranteed shot of the winner lining up a unification fight against Fury (most probably).

Like you I am glad Whyte will get a decent pay day guaranteed at $7.4 million for the fight with an extra $4.1 million if he wins but with all the deals he might be offered to promote commodities, products and services etc in television commercials he could make a lot more.

I expect this to be an easy fight for Fury. He'll then likely go on to fight the winner of AJ/Usyk and then I'm hoping Tyson gets a fight sorted with Ngannou for next year. Is there a date set for this or an estimated time? Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get sorted because if AJ/Usyk gets done we could see the winners fight by the end of the year.

Matchroom Boxing (Hearn) bid $32 million but Queensberry Promotions (Warren) bid $41 million and that means Whyte gets the opportunity to fight Fury most probably in the UK. Fury tweeted: "BIG GK IS COMING HOME, UK BABY"

What exactly do these purse bids mean? When they're both the promotors of the fighters and it'll be a cross-promotion event why do they have to bid and what does that even mean for the fighters? I would've though that it'll be a joint-promotion and the governing body gets to decide the pay of each so why do the promoters have to bid for it?

Warren posted a video on Twitter of Fury talking about Whyte: https://twitter.com/frankwarren_tv/status/1486635271772946437?cxt=HHwWioC-yea5y6EpAAAA

I can’t wait to punch Dillian Whyte’s face right in mate.  I’m going to give him the best hiding he’s ever had in his life, boy. Dillian Whyte, train hard sucker ‘cos you’re getting annihilated, bum.

They both decided to forget they knew each other in their early days working together and are now just resorting to insults

A couple of pictures doesn't mean much. If they bump into each other on a night out they're likely to have a chat and take a picture. There's several pictures of Conor and Khabib seemingly pally if you go back far enough. Things can obviously sour over the years as well like they did with Connor and Khabib, but as Welsh also said they're obviously going to try sell the fight. Coming out and saying we're great of pals who go back years and I can't wait to have a nice friendly reunion in the ring doesn't quite get the same hype as I'm going to smash his face in. Even after all the shit talking building up to a fight most fighters who seemingly hate each other will usually hug it out or shake hands.

29M for a single fight is more than a life time MMA career.  What change does Whyte against Fury? But maybe he is faster. He wouldnt be a boxer if he is whimp.

Such big money for a fight. Its no wonder Ngannou really wants to be in boxing than where he is good at which is MMA. Afaik they were tweet exchange with Fury between the two but have not madea huge buzz to make promoters interested.

My understanding is that Fury was trying to get out of fighting Whyte because he was a much smaller draw than Joshua or Usyk. Whyte on the other hand was trying his best to make the fight happen but he wanted more than the 20% of the funds that he was getting and he was not happy that Fury was getting 80%.

The Whyte team was not happy with the amount of money they were going to get therefore they were trying to avoid signing the contract in the hope of getting a better deal, they never avoided fighting Fury they just wanted a fairer share of the funds.

The teams behind Fury used the fact Whyte was not signing on for the fight as an excuse to go around trying to entice Joshua to take money in order to allow Fury vs Usyk to happen with a guarantee Joshua would be facing the winner but the WBC recognised Whyte as their number one contender and would have stripped Fury of the belt if the fight did not go ahead as a result of Fury declining to sign a contract to fight Whyte. Likewise, Whyte would have be stripped of the WBC number one contender if he was at fault for the fight not going ahead. That was why the WBC stepped in.

Rather than various negotiations between Fury and Whyte drag on and on after they had already failed 4 times and also with another problem by Whyte going to arbitration trying force a bigger pay day for himself, the WBC decided to allow any promoter to enter blind bids for the fight and forced both fighters to accept the highest bid and they had to accept how the WBC decided to split the money. All that happened because Fury and Whyte could not negotiate a deal by themselves.

What is interesting about the blind bidding process was that Hearn bid $32 million to promote the fight but Warren bid $41 million. it is said to be the largest ever purse bid in boxing history. Imagine how much Warren and Aram will be making for themselves after the international PPV sales are taken in to consideration.

Even i am not expecting anything magical from Dillian Whyte against Tyson Fury but he was supposed to fight Anthony Joshua for a long time and he is waiting in the sideline for a long time to fight for the title and with Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk are engaged to fight, it is a good match up as they were not having any opponents and they cannot wait on the sideline for a longtime waiting for the other fight to get over.

To be frank i do not want to see Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury in the boxing ring as there is nothing Tyson Fury has not seen inside boxing but if he is smart they should promote a fight between Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou to find out the heaviest puncher of all time and even in that fight i am expecting Francis Ngannou to gas out completely and Deontay Wilder tagging him in the later rounds Cheesy.

He really is a small draw compared if he is fighting Usyk or Joshua but Whyte is one annoying guy, he needs to dispatch this guy so no one will hinder a fight against Usyk or Joshua, Whyte has been calling all champions to fight him because he is a top rank contender because of his win against Povetkin

Quote

Fury is the big crowd and PPV attraction Whyte should understand that, it will be his turn if he beats Fury he should be happy that he is challenging Fury for the title this is his last chance to win a title and become a top boxer, we never know if he is another Andy Ruiz in the making, so far no one is voting Whyte on this poll and it's very obvious.

10-0 so far, no one voted for Whyte to win. lol

Well, it's going to be a big night for Whyte but for Fury it's just an ordinary night because he is used to this kind of situation and is currently the best heavyweight champion now, all the confidence in the world is on him. If Fury had some trouble with Wilder, I guess this would be an easier fight for him.

Francis Ngannou will be rehabbing his injured knee for the next year or so. That removes him from the list of prospects Tyson Fury can face.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua could be the fight fans would like to see. But unfortunately, it seems that isn't the match up boxing promoters will pursue. Anthony Joshua looked done in his last outing. He looked like a fighter who lost all motivation. Tyson fury also appeared to have lost his motivation, even in his last rematch with Deontay Wilder. I wouldn't expect Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua to compete professionally in boxing for much longer. At least not at the highest levels of the sport.

Whyte appears to be a relative newcomer. I think the decision to face him, has a lot to do with Tyson Fury no longer having the motivation he once did to train hard in preparation for fights. Tyson Fury is looking for easy paydays now.
