It's a good question, but one part you didn't mention is the certainty of the job.
There are cases the main job is kept especially because it's safe and cozy, while the side job is much riskier and may "end" before Mr X would get to retirement age.
In such a case, although maybe the "side job" pays better, shouldn't it just remain side job?

A side job IMO is not really meaning that it is a lesser paying job from one originally known with. The main job is usually the one everyone knows you are doing but the side job is known by few, maybe close colleagues. It is more of diversification to me but whether called side or not doesn't matter and these days it has been the one more sustaining because it gives you time and you still earn from it. The main job is the one taking most of your time and might pay you little .

So I think what is called as side job is not really a side job but another job in diversification. In overcoming financial problems, of course, side jobs can be a solution for us, now there may be many side jobs that can indeed make more money than regular jobs, but still side jobs do not have a steady income so they cannot guarantee the future compared to permanent jobs like employees in government or companies, so I think it's better for us to stay focused on the main job and also continue to make money from side jobs.

Given the definition of a side-job, the latter is understood as something that is being practiced by an individual other than his main job. The main job may consist of anything that he/she devotes majority of their time into. If, in the event, that the side-job performs financially better than the main job, then this is a sign that the person must focus on the former to at least be efficient in managing his time and resources.

Both types of work are sources of income, so I think we can do it without interfering with either one. I define a side job as something that fills my spare time as well as an effort to get what I want when I can't afford the income at my main job.

I honestly would love to have a side job if I could. However, my job takes almost all my day (and I have some other things that I have to care for unfortunately these days) and that is why I can't.

I think it's up to the security tenure of the side job, does your side job will be a long term project or not? if not then it is still a side job. Been doing this for years, I will have my 'regular' job, 9-5 office work and then I have a odesk job (that's what they were called before), doing it for 2-3 hours for 5 days. So it's a good compliment to my regular job. There were even times that my side hustle is getting bigger and I'm receiving very good pay compare to my regular job. But still the security of the jobs, it was long term, lasted for 3 years before it ended. The real point of difference is which one is more stable and long term in the broader view of life. If you have a day job, you may be earning less than from some side hustle, but it is not going to disappear all of a sudden or stop paying.

Good questions, a side job is a Job you do together with your main job so assuming you have a better pay in your side Job it's still consider that as the amount of time spent on that side hustle isn't comparable to the main job. Normally immediately smart people start seeing their side hustle is paying more with less time given to it, they immediately give full attention to the side hustle and make it a main job. Side hustle has risk factors associated with it because usually this a self employment hustles that can end at anything but with full job, you have a basic salary.

A side hustle is always a side hustle unless you make it the main hustle (job) by dedicating more time to it and less time to the main job. I'm not sure if that's common or not but talking about myself I get much more income from my side job comparing my full-time job also I don't even have to work so hard for it and I don't need to wake up early in the morning and wait for the bus in the bus station like other people, nut the point here about have a fulltime job is to have a stable and guaranteed income which can be useful for your lifestyle so can make sure of you will get some money at the end of each month and you can have your plans for it.

This reminds me during my past days in network marketing. I’ve seen “leaders” who are just ordinary full-time employees back then, have spent part-time in network marketing. Eventually after just a few months, their part-time job’s income is way much more than their full-time work and decided to resign and focus on network marketing. On my own understanding I think no but it can be differ from person to person. To me, my main job is the job that I work on first and the side job is the second job or the job where I applied later on. I have not experienced yet that I can earn better profit with my sidejob but mostly I can earn lesser profit on my sidejob compared to my mainjob.

I think nothing is a side job, it's all about creating multiple streams of income. In general nomenclature what you do for more number of hours or what pays you more is considered the main job and other one the sif job. But I think you should keep it by numbering your streams of income and try to increase this number as much as possible, so that even if you lose one stream of income you can survive on the remaining ones. Bitcointalk is definitely a good side income if you are living a nation that is not entirely rich. Internships usually do not pay a lot, but I have done free work online to increase my CV before, it has been a long time since I did that but it was actually kind of like internship. So, sometimes even income is not what you get but what you invest.

I know that many people hate free work for "exposure" but when you are starting out first and have nothing to show for, then you need to build something that helps you out. This is why I feel like it has been a case of long term benefits for me in that case.

My opioion on side jobs is that you can do them if you have time but this should not effect your main core job which should be your primary focus. First of all, big respect for being a kind of person that chases after what he really wants. Second, although I understand your point and your passion about it, you also must know that not all people are brave enough to take the leap of faith. Specially for the ones that are really financially challenged and have a family to support and take care of. Well where I live even if we are earning more from a side job from our main career it is still called a side job. If it brings money it's a job! The only difference between main and side jobs is how much you are involved in and how much you earn from them! But if signature campaign is what the OP meant then I really have to say it's not a side job despite the fact it can help participants to earn extra. Good topic and question you've got here, in my own opinion, it's very possible that side job can become main job (which is also known as day job) if the side job happens to bring in more money than the day job does, for example, some one already mentioned youtubers, I have friends who take streaming on YouTube as their day job and are earning a good living out of it, this set of people had what they were doing before either they found YouTube or someone introduced them to it.
Also myself as an example, I was into public transportation as my day job, along the line, I discovered and got into crypto, later on, crypto started paying me even more than I was earning in my transportation business, I had to later on take crypto trading and investing as my day job and make my transportation business a side job, and I plan to quit the transportation business soon though as I have plans of taking my crypto journey further to the next level.

I would never be able to run 6 jobs at the same time but we need to consider the hours as well. There are times when I work 12 hours a day because I have a regular job and I also try to build another project with friends, it was the case last year for example, now I do 14-15 hours between my job and the hospital works for someone I really care about, so it is possible to be always busy. If 6 jobs all require between 2 hours or 3 hours per day, then you would be able to do that.

I know people who are community managers on 10-15 different telegram groups, that requires maybe 10 hours a day at most and they could hire others to delete spams as well so they are making literally thousands of dollars per week just from being online on telegram and even hire someone else to do their job so they do not have to work too much neither. It is definitely a smart move.

First, let's define both terms to understand them much better. Based on my knowledge, the main job is the primary job a person has which he spends most of his time in a day or week. I basically did this way back in the day. I was a content writer in my own language for a company as a junior marketing analyst, I should have been titled content writer but they just gave me an analyst title while making me write. Sadly enough, I am not great at my native language and kept making silly grammar mistakes.

We don't know if what issues they been thru on why they decided to quit their stable jobs for a side job but I guess its because the side jobs that you mentioned above are more flexible. Obviously, it depends on your day job. I assume many of us here have days jobs that allow us to occasionally log on and read some posts on the forum. The same goes for your "side job". If you have a certain skill and some extra time then it makes sense to put in some work on a side project that could turn into an extra stream of revenue.

I'd say the vast majority of people out there are lucky if they've found a minimum wage job and many are happy to settle for that too. It takes a lot of searching, trial and error, persistence and at least a bit of intelligence to find extra side jobs that pay enough to keep people interested. Perseverance is the major obstacle, there is lots of money out there but it can take a long time to earn it and if you give up early you might never see a good return. Being wise with your money can also mean investing, which grows your capital over time and effectively means you own companies where other people earn money for you. However, there has never been a better time to find jobs - even if it's things like Uber deliveries.

Definitely Yes, it is only called a side job because you have a main job. Even though job A brings less income over job B, both are still considered a job. Even you're earning more in your side job it cant be called as main if it is not stable as a source of income. Seasonality is the nature that we will evaluate to distinguish whether the job is secondary or primary. It is up to you to determine how you will perceive it for yourself based on your personal circumstances.
For example, my main job is selling daily newspapers and a side job is MMO

Currently I do some side jobs because I have more time, I only work in the office 3 days a week so I can use the remaining time to do other productive things, side jobs of course can't be too reliable because they are uncertain. The current side jobs I do is grow vegetables, short-term fruits such as melons, cucumbers, watermelons and so on.

Well, the truth is that I currently believe that in every country the economic situation is getting more difficult every day, where I do not consider each job as secondary but as a Blessing and an Opportunity to continue getting ahead, particularly many years ago secondary work was considered an income more money that was had as for a "just in case", currently for many to have more than 1 job I think it is something necessary and more when you have a family, where it no longer matters how much you have to make an effort in order to guarantee the basics in terms of needs and satisfy them.

Many people including me also have side jobs, this is because the main job has not been able to fulfill whatever I want, some of the side jobs that I do are related online such as selling or renting a house or apartment in an area near my place so that it is easier for me to control and meet potential buyers, and I've been doing side jobs for more than 5 years and I think the results are satisfactory.

Yes, I agree. Although side jobs require less time and sometimes less money, they are beneficial because most of our main jobs only pay our bills and allow us to buy food.
