Side job or part-time job whatever you call it is a good thing as long as it can do some contribution to your life. If we have the quality and time to focus our energy on multiple channels then why not. Your main job is that occupation that you can not or don't want to change and your side job gives you the flexibility to change or replace it with something else if the need arises. It doesn't matter which job gives you much revenue.

Side Jobs are very helpful, one should not depend on just one job with the way the world is going, one job may disappoint a person,so there should be involvement in multiple jobs as possible, not just to overwork one's self but to make more profit to avoid loss or disappointment from one or a particular job

This is very common actually. Lots of people left their full-time jobs and turned their hobbies into full-time jobs. Most youtubers are doing it. Some people stream the games they play and collect donations from the viewers. Some collect ad money from the big corps.  Some do crypto trading. When you are sure that you can generate a stable income from your side job you can focus on that and grow it even bigger.

This point is very outstanding, and yes we all know people are very multi-task especially in terms of earning people are very active even they're tired searching for a job but the time when coming if there is two opportunities we will just try and observe for a while until we find out which most good and excellent job that could be focus.

In some countries, one job is already enough so it's not really disappointing them. But in countries where you need to hustle and you're having tons of obligation for which makes you the need to earn more and that's through having more jobs, one job isn't enough and it's discouraging people to be contented with only one job. And those who are doing side jobs, they're hard-working people and no matter how much you earn with that, the important thing is you're making your time worth it and you're earning extra income whether it's higher or not with your main job.

General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?

A side job is still considered as a side job even if it is paying more than the day job.
A day job gives you a stable income on regular basis and that makes it more important than a side job as it is a more secure income.
A side job may not be relatively stable and requires less amount of time of work than the day job.
True. A side job usually requires less time of work and the income is unstable. But the worth of these jobs (either main or side job) are equal for me. Because its a source of income and that we should give importance. Nowadays many people are now committed to two jobs and its understandable knowing how hard the life is (inflation in everything) and everyone needs to strive.

Actually it all depends on each person's decision they have the freedom to choose to work on 2 jobs at once which is divided into main work and side work,
there is no limit for everyone and indeed not everyone can do that because deciding to work part time takes a lot of time and effort
Sky is only the limit. If you can handle doing the side job aside from your main job then go on, why not? But, if you feel that your main job is already taxing your energy too much then I guess its better to be contented than to risk your health looking for more ways to earn because in the end your earning wont still be enough to treat your illness cause by overworking.

Money is not all about anything but as long you can eat at least twice a day in your 1st job I think that is already enough. Sometimes we need to be contented in life and accept things were it used to be because being too greedy and wanting more could lead us to our grave pretty easy.

That is the type of thing that my friends are all doing and I do not understand. They have their main job that makes them money, and they see that as their job. I would say that have your own job that you want to do in the world, you could have a "main job" that gives you money, but then for the rest of your hours, focus on doing what you want to do. Let that consume every single hour of your life.

I work nearly 12-13 hours a day, all for the "main" job that I have because I found the job that I love the most, it is the most magnificent job for me, it is content writing and many people may not like it and hate it but the reality is that I still love it and it is perfect for me.

If you can't let your favourite thing in the world consume every single minute you have, then you are not going to turn that into your main job and will hate your whatever main job you have that brings only income and no fun for the rest of your life.

First of all, big respect for being a kind of person that chases after what he really wants. Second, although I understand your point and your passion about it, you also must know that not all people are brave enough to take the leap of faith. Specially for the ones that are really financially challenged and have a family to support and take care of. Whether it is right or wrong to risk it despite having responsibilities or not is something that is still up for debate or is something that the person who is in the same situation can judge. Either way, everyone has different lives to live along with their varying beliefs that may depend entirely on environmental influences, tradition or some circumstances and I as a person respect them all.

Well where I live even if we are earning more from a side job from our main career it is still called a side job. May be because in side job income is not fixed that we will earn that much..some time we earn more some time less also in side job sometimes it is not guaranteed how long will it continue but in main job there is a bit of surety that it is for long term and our pay will increase with time.

Agreed, and it is not guaranteed that it will continue for a longer period of time, for example, I currently have a main job and several side jobs, the earnings from which are not particularly substantial but which are extremely beneficial to us; however, the problem is that it could disappear at any time because it is not particularly stable, as is the case with the main job. When it comes to your primary job, you should expect it to last for several more years; side jobs, on the other hand, are usually only temporary, though some people turn their side jobs into full-time jobs if they see that it has potential.

To me there is nothing like a side job or a main job once you can end an income from any job be it official or unofficial it becomes the main source, once you put in your time and it pays the bills you are on it for some time it becomes your job.
Any job that is bringing you a good income either weekly or monthly is your job. Many unemployment in the country  found a good job in cryptocurrency trading that is giving them a huge amount of money monthly which is really helping them to live well in the society. Some youths engaged themselves in crypto trading during the pandemic that made them to achieved a good job that is giving them income monthly to feed their family and to pay other families bills in the community.

If it brings money it's a job! The only difference between main and side jobs is how much you are involved in and how much you earn from them! The main job is taking more time/energy and should bring more money at the end of the month, but we saw people who start earning more from the side job, where they spent less time/energy... it's natural for them to replace the main job with the one that will bring more money!
I agree that there's a lot of unemployment around the world, and many people earn very low on many jobs, so the only way to survive is to do more jobs! So if someone is capable of doing more things at once should try it!

Even a individual need of 1000$ per month for the luxurious life and 500$ for the normal life.
This will depend from country to country, in country like the United States and European countries, $1000 is not enogh for luxurious life, probably it can be enogh in some African and Asian countries.
Pfft.  $1000/month in the US is living in poverty--seriously, even if you don't have a family to support, and especially when inflation is creeping up at around 7% annually.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what OP means by a side job or at what threshold said side job becomes the main job.  I've often heard talk of "side hustles" which are usually schemes or off-the-books work that doesn't get reported to the tax man.  If that's what OP is talking about, I'd say that if your side hustle is making you more money than your regular job, there's probably something illegal going on (like drug dealing, for instance).

But as long as your side business isn't hurting anyone, who am I to say that a person shouldn't try to supplement their income--especially if that income is insufficient to begin with.  The government has stacked the chips so hard against the average person that I'm not one to judge harshly when it comes to these sorts of things.  Ya know?

A kind of work that does not take much time that someone is doing that is not his main job is what OP is referring to as side job, side job may not be the right words for it. Example are people going for work from 8am to 4pm but having another means of getting income like online works that will not take much of their time daily. Some people can realized that they are getting more income from the work that is not taking time than a job which requires daily bank hours.

So it means that you work 8 hours in the morning and then again you work for 4 -5 hours in the evening/night. Though you may get extra income and money but it does come at a cost of your comfort. You can't give time to your loved ones and maybe lose health because of less sleep. I would better find some passive investment opportunities rather than engage in working for 12-14 hours a day.

If I look from the OP's other thread then I think the side job he's referring to is a signature campaign that pays participants weekly. But maybe I could still be wrong if that's not what he meant.

For other side businesses it might be good to do as long as it doesn't violate government rules and interfere with main work. But if signature campaign is what the OP meant then I really have to say it's not a side job despite the fact it can help participants to earn extra. It would make more sense for the OP to think a "campaign manager" campaign operator is one type of side job as compared to a signature campaign participant in my opinion.

General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?

Side jobs, just because you earn more from there, can be considered as your primary job. The salary has nothing to do with me but rather I called as a profession.

And actually, that should not be a question in the first place because it's all end up on our own preference.

Regardless of the salary, you are the only one who can differentiate the classification of the jobs you are currently working on. Smiley

Yes ofcourse, jobs are important because those are the ones that give us our bread and butter to survive our daily needs.
Side jobs are equally important as day jobs because it fulfills our side expenses and also sometimes help us save an extra buck.
It is the sole reason why we opt to do a side job at first place and otherwise we wouldn't be doing it at all.

Side jobs is an indicator that you're main work isn't providing you enough money or that you're scared to take a leap on that side job even though it's your passion. Side job is a good way to make money, even though it might sound like I am against it, I highly respect the people who do this although I don't really like the idea that we have to rely on more jobs just to get by.

General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?

Good topic and question you've got here, in my own opinion, it's very possible that side job can become main job (which is also known as day job) if the side job happens to bring in more money than the day job does, for example, some one already mentioned youtubers, I have friends who take streaming on YouTube as their day job and are earning a good living out of it, this set of people had what they were doing before either they found YouTube or someone introduced them to it.
Also myself as an example, I was into public transportation as my day job, along the line, I discovered and got into crypto, later on, crypto started paying me even more than I was earning in my transportation business, I had to later on take crypto trading and investing as my day job and make my transportation business a side job, and I plan to quit the transportation business soon though as I have plans of taking my crypto journey further to the next level.

You are very correct, no matter how much the side job pays as far as its not your carrier or ur dream job it still remains your side jobs, there are some side Jobs that pays higher but they are illegal....
In my own opinion side jobs are necessary but not mandatory!

Side job is not just the job of another office along with your first office or place of work in physical but it can be any other source of income which you get. Suppose if you have your day job and after that you come home and do other marketing or vloging and earning money with that then you are dong side job so I do not think that anyone will not like side job.
It is also a support of someone in heir life and it is also the extra earning of a person in order to save for future or to buy any dream of their life.
