As I'm expecting USA to score plenty of goals against Iran today, I predicted the most goal scoring team of the day as USA in Sportsbet's special bets. As we are leaving 2 matches behind it is enough for USA to score 2 goals for now. But England is the team I'm afraid of as they might explode today. Even though Southgate adopts a controlled game usually, the performance they showed against Iran in their first group match  shows their potential clearly.

Uff... 1:0 for the US boys. What a great goal by Christian Pulisic. Hopefully he didn't hurt himself too much and can continue playing. The collision right before the goal looked pretty pretty painful. Outsch...

But the way the USA is playing, we can certainly expect a few more goals in the second half. I honestly didn't expect such a dominant performance. Maybe one more even before half time?

I also didn't see such convincingly dominant performance coming from USA beforehand, IRAN have done actually better against the other 2 opponents than USA fared against them, so I felt IRAN should be able to absolved all form of pressure from USA.  However, I just stumbled upon a tweet from @TrollFootball that compared the fixture to WW3 so, I supposed that's why USA had to put all their firepower out there, there wouldn't have been a worse team to lose against than IRAN for the USA.

USA was playing much better than Iran in first half, and deserved the lead, it could end up 0:2, but VAR is on the line again

England and Wales are in similar situation, England is much better, but the game does not seem that interesting (or it is just too hard for me to work and simultaneously watch two matches )

From the picture you posted above, it looks pretty clearly like it's the correct call, the player in question's knee is above the last defender if you take his arm out of the picture and that's always the case when ruling for an offside.


England have broken the deadlock with 2 goals in quick succession, thanks to new introduced starters, Rashford and Foden, both players have been heavily involved in almost every attacking threat that England have so far, I guess that's the end of any atom of hope the Welsh team could have had coming into this game.

The good thing of today games is that is the first time that we did not see any surprise result,most likely because you cannot gamble in the last game of the group stages like many of the strong teams have done in the first two games,now here it is all or nothing in play so no surprises and for bettors I think this was a really good day if not the best of all tournament up until now.In the USA game there are 9 minutes of added time something new introduced in this World Cup by the president of FIFA who said people want to watch 90 minutes of effective football while the average they see in a game is 50 minutes of effective football so we should make up for the time lost and most games in this World Cup had a lot of added time.

I expected a lot more from Iran - but fair play to USA as well, they should have closed the game in the 1st half.

England routinely secured the win against Wales and saved my betting day in the process - I had 5 tickets on them today and all of them passed.

Tomorrow's games will be a lot more close - especially the late ones in group C.

Ecuador - Senegal was great game, something like fight for place in playoffs is supposed to be. Ecuador managed to equalize score, but it didn't took long for Senegal to took a lead again. So, they reached next round.
Wales ended their disappointin World Cup campaign with loss against England 0:3. Bale substituted at halftime probably marks end of his era.

would call it a Gary Speed era (although he passed away decade ago), he set them to be competitive in football, but after this, they will probably slide to irrelevance in next decade
England showed another great game, after not that good match with USA, and they are going to play Senegal, should not have to much to worry about
USA is facing Netherlands, that could be a bit more interesting, but Netherlands should not have too many issues as well

On to the last 16 for Southgate’s men, as they set up a last 16 tie with Senegal. England will be very happy that Mane is injured. He could have caused them real problems. As it stands, I don’t expect much trouble for England in that game.

I’ve moved up to 10th place in our pool, just hanging on at the moment. I don’t to fall too far behind & stay in touch in time for the 1/4 finals. That’s when the assault begins to try & win the pool, the real business end of the tournament.

I was in the kitchen eating and seeing the games and my brain says "do you put the picks in Superbru?", and was.... fuck. So i go to the pc and put all my selections.

I did the same, missed the 1st game of the 2nd round and the first 2 games of the 3rd round.
I was given default picks though - but they didn't do me much good.

Must be feeling very happy as a supporter, I wish they wouldn't have met Senegal however, because I wanted both teams to progress!!

The good news is England are currently the top scorers with 9 goals in 3 games, Spain has a chance to beat that but I doubt it can happen even if I support them, I just get the feeling Japan will allow max 1 goal.

10th place is awesome, I checked and I didn't do so badly, which was a surprise and I dropped a few places in this new round but plenty more games to go, so it's a tight fight. 8 points away from the top, feels quite far away!

Aaah okay, this 3D animation wasn't shown on Austrian TV. You're right, here you can clearly see that it was offside. Just watching the slow motion, I could have sworn it wasn't offside. However, now you see once again how the TV angle can deceive you, LOL.

Anyway, the 1-0 win was a close call in the end, but still enough to advance to the round of 16. Pretty excited to see the US boys playing the Netherlands now. That should be a fun-to-watch game.

I know that feeling bro. The same happened to me in the last Bundesliga season. I was quite tilt at first, but was very lucky that the results of the games were quite unexpected and the other participants didn't score too big, hehe.

I also did the same but not forgetting to put my picks but choosing a draw 1-1 for Ecuador as the most logical result only to be surprised by the thousand time that the most logical result in a football game rarely happens yet I do not seem to learn my lesson.

I am currently 34th and happy about it considering how things are going we are all into play for a spot in the top ten as there are quite a lot of games ahead,I know many will try to find an alternate way and not go with the favorites in order to climb positions but I am staying with the favorites until the end,if I end up 10th I would be happy if I end up below I would again be happy as I enjoy the pool.

Familiar situation. In order not to forget to make predictions, I immediately make a prediction for the whole match day, so I have to strain myself only once every 4 days. And then I don’t even remember what results I chose  A lot of illogical results in the pool and I don't really worry about the place I take. There are not many games ahead to seriously improve my situation.

I think currently the Tunisian national team will qualify for the second round if the result of the tie between Denmark and Australia continues. Well well, i really didnt expect his one, Denmark the dark horse of a lot of people its out in group stage, in a "easy" group, i think so much politics in the head of the players and no football.

I see the las 20 minutes of the game, and the performance of Denmark was pathetic, seems like they dont want to play.

How you can disallow such goal, even after VAR review? IMO, Griezmann scored legitimate goal and that moment when he was in offside, he didn't participated in attack, it was passive offside. Or maybe I don't understand something.
But that moment when of Tunisia against current World Cup champions didn't helped them. Yeah, France played with second squad, but win is still impressive.
While Denmark is biggest disappointment for me in this tournament. As said before, I had them as black horses who can go far. But when you score just 1 goal in 3 games and can't show anything against Australia, you can't expect good outcome. Probably not many saw Australia reaching next round.

I too honestly don't understand how was it an off-side? There was another one against Brazil in the last match too. Do fifa have any new off-side rule? But whatever it is, these off-sides are ruining the fun of the matches. There were too many already.

This is why you need better angles because from an obtuse angle they often can look either on or off depending on the view. You need a camera straight down the line to be sure but they have some sort of new CGI system for the world cup that shows it in a better light. It's worse in my opinion though because it's catching all the ones that are a fraction of a millimetre offside. IF they're sticking with VAR onwards they should change the rule so you just need one part of your body onside. Disallowing a goal because a mere shoulder or toe is offside is silly.
