Switzerland is down 2- 0 and I doubt they can make a comeback on the second half based on how they played in the first half,of course anything can happen as this is football but things do not look easy for them.Morocco made the biggest surprise of the whole tournament tonight so a big well done to them and Spain suffered the young age of their players,I believe though in the next World Cup based on their play they will be World Champions but there is time until then.I think it is the first time for a team like Morocco to come to the 1/8 but of course they have a chance against Portugal as if they were against Brazil they or anyone else would be losing.

Considering that the Spanish media laughed so much at the German team for their elimination in the group stage, their own exit happened pretty quickly too. Out in the round of 16. Not their best performance, tbh haha. 

Who would have thought that before the World Cup? I thought they would make it into the quarterfinals without any problems. Wow, my predictions were off again, LOL.

Of course, it would be a fantastic story if Portugal could play for the title, but it will be extremely difficult in the semi-finals against England or France at the latest. That moment when Portugal scores 6 goals and none of it belongs to Ronaldo and he also din't made an assist. Few years ago it was difficult to imagine Ronaldo left on bench for decisive knockout stage game. But this tournament probably marks the end of glorious era of CR7.
And probably nobody didn't saw Portugal scoring 6 goals before the game. After all, Switzerland were considered as one of best defense in World Cup. But today everything went wrong for them.
Spain, I feel disappointed that they got eliminated, but they deserved it. Football is simple game, if you want to win, you have to score. Spain dominated game, but didn't managed to score. And this is what happens when you try to choose your opponent and pick easier path. Karma exists and now Spain can be happy that they won't have to face Brazil in this tournament.
Now we have break until Friday. This tournament is probably worst from all pools that I ever played. Dropped to 46th place... But at least I'm not doing that bad in betting.

Fair play to Morocco. Spain look to have underestimated them.

I think Spanish coach Luis Enrique did a terrible job in this match, he tried to fix things later with substitutions but it was to late.
You can't expect any positive result when you play like that, and mentally they show weakness that was best seen in penalty shootout.
Morocco vs Portugal is next, and I am expecting different tactics from Fernando Santos.
If Ronado starts the match I think Morocco will have better chance to progress

Maybe you are right for this World Cup but he has done a great job in building a team like I have already said that can easily be World Cup winners in the next World Cup.Even if he would have got Nacho and Ramos I don't think Spain would have been able to win this World Cup so I fully agree with what Enrique did in building such a young promising team that I am sure will be a great team for the next World Cup,he should be valued for that rather than being criticized because he is eliminated right now from the World Cup,even so he would have been eliminated in other rounds anyway,so overall he did a great job for me in building this team with these young talents.

Portugal has slightly better chances than Swiss, I would not call Swiss underdogs here

Even without the certainty most of us went for Spain as the pool now is such that it's too dangerous to pick a big underdog, and I'm sure no one would pick Morocco either in the next round. Same as Portugal we thought it would be tough but we still mostly went for them

I'm very happy with my position now as I never expected to be in the top spots especially when most of my group stage 2 games were picked way before I could research. I guess research only makes us think too hard sometimes!

I'm in agreement with swogerino, yes he did try to build a team in the vision of tiki taka Barca but needless to say if you build a copy, you must have same masterclass midfield for that, which Spain didn't have so they ended up with tiktok memes instead lol. But the youngsters still benefited from this experience and they actually were only something like 8th favourite, behind Belgium and behind Germany, so I think it's not such a bad tournament to learn from.

Morocco, for the first time in its football career, reaches the QF of the World Cup. I do not know if he was able to withstand the attacks of the Portuguese national team, which crushed Switzerland with 6 goals last night. Sounds a lot difficult for Argentina to get past Brazil judging from the way both teams have played,I had big hopes for Argentinian team but they completely disappointed with their game play up until now while Brazil has convinced much better and the lost game against Cameroon was because of Brazil not trying hard enough and them being already qualified in that game.

Both teams though have not had any serious test and Argentina will have one with Netherlands while I cannot say the same for Brazil because Croatia by the way they have played have also disappointed me,so most likely Brazil would only be playing against Argentina or Netherlands as their first strong opponent.

If Germany wanted they could have already kicked them out by letting Costa Rica score some goals and this would have made that both Germany and Spain to be out of the way of this World Cup but the point is not that,the point is that Spain was a young team with many talented players who got a really huge experience by playing against other national teams in the World Cup and they are not responsible for what the Spanish media does.It was the lack of experience that made them lose and emotions when hitting penalties as young players.I think the fruits of this Enrique experiment we are going to see no sooner than the other World Cup although I hope even in the Euro they will be a great show and not like this one.

Looks like Ronaldo has been benched for being a diva. That's a very ballsy move by the Portuguese manager. If it doesn't pay off then people will certainly criticise him for it but hopefully this sends a message to Ronaldo that's he not bigger than the team. I agree with you, Enrique prefers to place Alba and Liorente rather than Sergio Ramos and Nancho. He even prioritizes placing his daughter's boyfriend (Ferran Torres) as a starter rather than Ansu Fati LOL.

I don't feel any emotion for them as always a boring team. But Germany should have qualified. They are 100 times better than Spain. It's their bad luck that even after playing such a good match in the last group match, they have to leave without anything from the group stage.

Let's look at the future matches.
Croatia vs Brazil: Easy win for Brazil.
Netherlands vs Argentina: Argentina will have real test in the match. But in case if they win then it will be a great match between Brazil and Argentina in the semi.

Morocco vs Portugal: May be the world cup for Morocco will come to an end. Portugal will not be another Spain. They will play the similar game like they did yesterday against Switzerland.
England vs France: This will be my match to watch. No idea who will win.

I'm really enjoying in the first day without football
It has been a bit of an overload, especially since I've watched almost all of the games so far.

Unfortunately, I don't feel we can parry Brazil in the QF - they are everybody's favorites for the title.

Uff... pretty tough matches to predict if you ask me. But IMHO we should see Brazil - Argentina in SF 1 and Portugal - France (?) in SF 2. However, those results would be pretty disappointing for England and the Netherlands. The English team, in particular, is playing such a strong tournament that a title is something I would really like to see them win. But I don't see how they can win against France or Brazil (in a possible final).

Pretty excited for the pool results on friday. Things are getting tough...

both my bets on outrigths were on Netherlands and England, and I do think that they will progress
Argentina will have hard time to score against Netherlands, and counter attacks could put them in really tough position

France defense is poor, and there should be goals, not sure for England progress, but hope that they will put France out

Morocco and Portugal could also end up interesting, not sure that symphony against Swiss will be repeated at all

regarding Croatia, I am pretty sure that Brasil will not win this one, but looking at Croatia play against Japan, hardly could give Brasil hard time in QF
