But let's see first what the first fight will bring, maybe it could be just one sided and end in less than 10 rounds and someone getting his ass knock out for good that he doesn't want to have a rematch.

In that case then there's no trilogy anymore, maybe a rematch but I'm sure it will have the same outcome since the first fight was already obvious it's just a one-sided fight. If they'll make a controversial decision in the first fight like what happened to Wilder vs Fury fight where the first fight was declared as a draw, then there are still 2 fights where Fury has dominated the KO artist.

That is if one of them wanted this fight to make controversial and give this fight a draw without any unspoken words, but I guess not. I mean, I'd understand if Ryan Garcia will say yes for a draw because GBP is his promoter and that's a good way to make decent big money into their first bout but Tank Davis? I don't think so. Tank got pride and won't say yes for things like these as I think his next stop will be the undisputed boxer.

Why the hate on Ryan Garcia? He is a prospect that is aiming to become a great and challenging Tank Davis why he is still in his prime and one of the best to be in this division of all time you have to give respect for Ryan for putting his record at risk just to fight Tank at his prime. He could wait until he gets older and make it easier for him but he is doing it as the most difficult time. If he can win then he puts himself up there for the next couple of years imo

As of now, bookies are favoring Davis to win this fight.
I have the feeling that Davis will indeed beat Garcia on this one.
If Garcia has proceeded his tune-up fight, he should have known his level of preparation.
But anyway, that's his stand so let us see if he has a good chance on Davis.
Both names are popular among the boxing fans so no wonder this is a sold-out event.
A counter puncher against a counter puncher.
Garcia has the height and reach advantage, but it's useless against a counter puncher and a sneaky Tank Davis.

Too many fights to wait this year. Tank Davis vs. Garcia, Crawford Vs. Spence, Fury Vs. Usyk and maybe Bivol Vs. Beterbiev (if it happens). For sure many boxing fans around the world will be happy and they'll spend just to watch these "fight of the year" or even "fight of the decade" candidate fights.

As for this fight, I'm also rooting on Davis on this one, but it's anybody's fight. One wrong move on either one of them can be their end. Both of them are good counter punchers so it's hard to know who will win on this one. Both has a high KO rate as well. Can we see Garcia utilizing his reach advantage here and will throw more jabs?  Cheesy

A height advantage cannot be useless when you utilize and take advantage of it perfectly. As for Garcia, he will never have a hard time using his height advantage as he has speed and agility. If you see how Ugas used his against Manny, that would be a good example how Garcia will win against Davis.
Most likely, Garcia will use it as his main advantage, since Davis is also a dangerous fighter. He's not gonna let his guard down and be more cautious, and yeah of course score with those jabs.

There is someone who I have always said, boxing, despite the fact that it has a lot to do with physicality, can be won but obtaining a lot of intelligence, and I have known that for a long time, and here in the forum they have let me know, nothing else I can do Name a fairly intelligent boxer like Mayweather, the day he fought Pacquiao, I didn't like that fight because I knew he was running all over the ring and Pacquiao was just looking for him, 'Mayweather only fought in a very technical way and That made him win, even though for me it was the worst fight in the world, years later I came to understand that Mayeweather knew that his best option was not a hand-to-hand confrontation, because he might have lost, but on a technical level he had the advantage .

Aside from Mayweather's advantage when it comes to technicalities, he also got a good defense that enables him to create a counter punch every time that he's engaged. The fact that he mastered the Philly Shell makes him already an intelligent boxer, and I think that's what makes Devin Haney to practice under Mayweather even if he's not under his promotional banner.

And I agree, that fight was even dubbed as a fight of the century but what we saw was not really enticing and that the fight labeled like that was somehow inappropriate. People wanted an all-out fight and if that happened, Pacquiao will surely win but Mayweather was clever enough to despite the pressure around him.

Haney has that defensive skills as well, might not look very polished as like the Mayweather because you have to understand that his uncle Roger was one of the first to used this Philly Shell that was pass on Floyd by his uncle and his father trainer, so we could say that he perfect this defensive stance that others just wanted to copy from him but failed. So for sure Tank knows this from Floyd himself when he was under his promotional company and we can see some of it on his stance in his last couple of fights.

No doubt about that, Tank Davis surely learned a thing or two when he was still under Floyd Mayweather's promotional company that's why he saw some instances that Tank used the said stance in his previous fights. Also, Philly Shell is indeed a vicious defense and a kind of stance that allows the boxer to create such good counter that will shake their opponent or worse, knock them out because it's known for its unpredictability.
When it comes to defense, I'll go with tank davis. His footwork is so good that he dodged a lot of punches from his last fight between him and hector garcia. His punch is so powerful that bigger opponents can't take the damage in their body. I don't know if Ryan has a body that can take the punch of Tank but he is an orthodox fighter and he has a crazy fast hooks and jabs. He dropped Javier Fortuna with his crazy jabs. The hook of King Ryan is also powerful so we should expect that we can see hooks vs hooks between him and Tank.

Well, I can't deny that Tank Davis has a physique that supports him a lot, especially when it comes to defending himself and even resisting goals, it's something that he has like armor, it's not bad, and in part this could be an impediment for Garcia It is also as you say, his technique is rudimentary, like the combination of the old school and new things that are only his own style, now, if we are going to see García's style, he may be preparing For this, I believe a lot in Garcá's strategy, he is an intelligent boxer, and he must know what his own capacity is and how his strategy should be so that he can come out victorious.

Interesting Info:

Bernard Hopkins compliments Gervonta Davis for leaving Floyd Mayweather

Quote
Bernard Hopkins has heaped praise on Gervonta Davis for putting his career first and seeking a move away from Floyd Mayweather.

The former two weight world champion, one of boxing’s finest ever fighters, holds a lofty position within Golden Boy Promotions and it’s likely he’ll have a front row seat for Davis’ likely April meeting with Ryan Garcia.

The fascinating 135lbs clash is one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing and it’s possible we could get to see the contest in the first third of 2023.

Yes, I'll go with Davis as well as it's a wiser move rather than siding with Ryan Garcia. This doesn't mean that I'm underestimating the latter but we are here talking and speculating about their upcoming fight. We all know that Ryan Garcia got no experience about fighting heavy names as of now because he had to be in a back-to-back tune-up fight so that he can regain himself after the Campbell fight where his weakness was revealed.

And speaking about weakness, Garcia will have a hard time finding Tank's because that's still a mystery until now and it seems that he got a good armor equipped on his body which give him another upper hand.

As for the venue, they are talking about 3 possibilities, (a) MGM Grand Garden Arena, (b) T Mobile Arena, and (c) Allegiant Stadium.

So they are all in Las Vegas, the gambling capital so expect a lot of money going to flow not only in this fight, but in the casino's surrounding it. There has hasn't been a boxing event in Allegiant Stadium, the home of Las Vegas Raiders who reported to have a sitting capacity of 70,000.

MGM has 20,000 and T Mobile Arena 17,000 sitting capacity.

So let's wait till the final contract has been signed and if they are looking to sit more boxing fans, Allegiant Stadium might be the good choice here.

Allegiant Stadium  would be my choice this is a big event and you want as many people filling the seats. I am not sure if they could sell out a stadium that big but a 17000 capacity stadium or a 20000 is to small imo. MGM would be the 2nd choice because it is larger then the t mobile one. Allegiant Stadium would be historic though if it is true that no boxing fight has been hosted there before.

Yeah, with the hype surrounding this fight, both promotional companies should look for more seating sits for their fans.

Who knows, maybe they can fill that 70k sits and that will be one of the biggest boxing match as far as watching fans are in the arena. However, they seems to be still in negotiations here as far I understand.

So definitely, all our doubts will be gone once there is an official announcement.

Top 3 capacities ever if they fill the stadium out. I do not think they will but Garcia does bring a lot of the younger audience in which is always good for crowds because they will bring friends that are not die hard boxing fans just to drink and have fun. Tank is only appreciated by boxing fans he is not a social media star like Garcia who has made friends with Jake Paul and has expanded his reach because of that. I just think a 70k stadium without filling it up is better then filling a 17000 or 20000 stadium. 40000 fans in a 70000 stadium will make more noise and it will bring in more money. It would make history too

Right, it's better to get a bigger stadium to fill all the fans instead of smaller venues like MGM or T-Mobile, although this two has been the staples for fights in Las Vegas for the last couple of years. But it won't hurt to insert a huge Allegiant Stadium in this magnitude of a fight. Although there are no official belts in the line, but both are two of the hottest boxers are far as drawing crowds. And it will be huge money if they can fill they 70,000 capacity and could set a precedence in Las Vegas.

I am not sure if they could sell out a stadium that big but a 17000 capacity stadium or a 20000 is to small imo. MGM would be the 2nd choice because it is larger then the t mobile one. Allegiant Stadium would be historic though if it is true that no boxing fight has been hosted there before.

It is only better to get a bigger stadium if you think they can sell out the smaller ones which I think this fight will attract more then 20000 fans. 70000 is huge and I do not think they will get that many fans to buy tickets but they could probably do half of that which is still better. I do not know how much Allegiant Stadium would cost compared to the mgm or t mobile stadium but they should be able to justify it.

Maybe, we all know that Oscar or at least his guy Ryan Garcia wanted to get the attention of the media to create the hype for this fight although we are already waiting for this huge fight to be sign.

So the storylines have been seen, regardless if the fight is April or May, at least they got the contract sign and that is the good news for us.

We will just have to wait for the official date and venue and then bookies opening their lines.

for sure they will create a hype as much as they can to get the attention of the boxing community and to eventually generate good income out of this fight. oscar's camp is grooming garcia to be their cash cow in this sports. but his upcoming fight with tank davis is not a very good looking one. what i mean is, davis may win on this fight. so if garcia loses, what's next for him?

I don't think they'll excell more effort to sell this fight, it has already gained enough hype around the internet. I've seen bunch of posts already regarding this fight, YouTubers even took advantage of this match, compiling their own predictions on the outcome of this fight.
So, even if they don't do the usual trash talking and unnecessary diss to each other to hype up the match, the fans will do it for them.
Remember, they are both an exciting to watch fighters.
They created the hype already, it will be easily sold with the fans as they are waiting for a big fight, and thus far, this is the only big fight that was confirm to be happening this year, so no much competition from the spending of the fans. By being both champions and undefeated, that would already make the game more interesting to watch.

Well, you can't ask for less from this fight, because we have two great boxers, one is García, who generally according to specialized boxing forums because they don't have much confidence in him, they feel that García is missing something, I don't know I think that maybe Garcia's training will not have been so hard, and against a great like Davis, I would be training too hard day and night to have a sufficient level to face him and beat him, it's the only way I see that I can Doing this is a workout from another world, apart from Davis being very good, he has an enviable defense, so it will be very difficult for them to connect him with any combination.

The truth is that I am surprised by the calculations that they have taken for this fight, because to say that 20,000, but what 70,000 are is wow, this could simply be a fight with the greatest number of demands that you have, of course it is also that in this case the fight has a very good tone, is that García also helps to make it an attractive fight, and for his part, Davis is one of those boxers who knows how to take advantage of all this, I imagine he is very excited to show off, just to think that his fight He has caused all that number of people to be taken into consideration to go see him, I think that DAVIS will have in his mind to end everything in an epic way, and who knows if he even wants to try with a knockout, you never know.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Ryan Garcia: 3 possible sites in Las Vegas, Nevada for April 15th

Quote
By Craig Daly: The Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia mega-fight is being targeted at one of the following venues on April 15th on Showtime PPV in Las Vegas, Nevada: Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena, or MGM Grand. Boxing Scene is reporting the news of the Tank vs. Ryan fight heading to Las Vegas, which makes sense because that’s where most of the mega-fights in the U.S. take place nowadays. Ideally, the Davis-Garcia fight will be staged at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas because it’s the largest venue by far of the three, allowing more boxing fans to attend and for a lower price cost of the ticket than if the contest takes place at the other two.

This is already being discussed here but I did not think that ticket prices would be lower if it was in the Allegiant Stadium  which could mean it is more accessible to fans to that could boost sales. T mobile and the MGM have always been expensive venues to attend and Vegas is not the cheapest place to find hotels or travel to. If they can reduce the ticket prices that might allow more people to afford but still benefit the promoters enough so that they go for Allegiant Stadium .

The ticket is expensive and they also have big-time sponsors so they will surely make money from it. It will not be affordable for ordinary people so we got no choice but just to watch it through their chosen platforms. They consider it as a big match of the first quarter so no wonder why the organizers have chosen an expensive venue. Garcia still wants to prove a lot so if he'll beat Davis, so he must be well prepared for this because for sure, Davis would also grab this chance to maintain his good record.

Just imagine, a boxing event in a stadium where it can hold 70,000 people and surely, that will be profitable for the organizers of this bout and GBP will be certainly happy if this will be the final venue.

That should be the case here, if they are targeting to fill the venue, it should be cheap and accessible to boxing fans. If I remember it correctly, ticket for boxing events cause $70.00 and up, super fight cause $79.99.

So this fight should be in the middle, affordable so that many will travel and buy tickets specially that this is the first time that  Allegiant Stadium will host a boxing event. No need to be greedy, both promotions should sell it this way.

They maybe are not yet in the final stage of choosing the venue because they are still assessing the possible audience for this fight.
If they will choose Allegiant, they are maybe expecting to make this a hit from boxing fans, which is a possibility.
The gate purse alone will give a good pocket money for these 2 boxers, but they should give us a good toe-to-toe fight.

So, have they finally been able to decide on the location of the match or are they keeping it a surprise or something?  I have not been able to get a straight answer ever since I first heard about the Davis vs Garcia match. And lets be honest, its been a long time coming, so I would not be surprised if all these secretive stuff is just another marketing tactic before the actual match.

I am pretty sure the match will be in Las Vegas but which stadium?

Finally, we don't need to worry anymore that this fight was only pure hype. Now, it is already official as they already signed a contract, so let's all be excited for one of the biggest fight this year. Maybe they are starting to train now, getting in shape, and hoping they'll be 100% in the actual fight.

I'm looking at the poll result now, there's more voters favored Davis to win, well, I'm on the other side.  Smiley

I consider this a legacy fight between the two fighters, before this coming fight there are no boxers on each other resume that match the power and skill of both fighters, hopefully, this will be the start of a blockbuster year in boxing, where undefeated champions with equal skills fight each other regardless of their promotions.
This fight will not happen if Mayweather is still the manager of Tank, he did the right thing in getting rid of Mayweather who just wants to milk Tank by fighting low-level fighters.

He cares for his legacy that's why he leaves Mayweather, pushing his limit and fighting a fighter that people think has a chance of beating him. I like if all boxers who have the same standing as Davis will do the same, imagine how happy the fans will be as they will be getting the best value of their money.

That goes to say that Tank Davis is indeed intelligent and wise enough to leave the room because he already feels that he knows already what Mayweather could teach to him, it was a good contract but now he is standing on his own and building his own promotional company to maximize his share and profits in every fight he partakes. He surely knows that staying in a single promotional company won't give him the dreams he wanted.
ABSOLUTELY mate tank Davis use his intelligence to think the right think as as we all know how a big opportunity will come with him. Cause if he continues on Mayweather hands, even though he can have good fight but not just big as we all know how may weather handle his fighter. Once again a good choice for tank cause besides he can earn a big profit but also he can make noise in the world of boxing once his promotions will be go up.

Well, in the hands of mayweather it is obvious that may will give him very good advice, we cannot deny that he is a very intelligent boxer and Davis has learned many things from him, this is something that we noticed, what I would like and that the The fight can be developed on the plane that we all know as basic, that the blows go away, the desire to fight, the fluid exchange of blows and that they do not go to a more technical plane, which is what most of us classify as bad. On a technical level, DAVIS must be very expert, because most of the time intelligence is used a lot for this type of fight.

Regarding the speculation about where it will be, I think the sponsors will decide where it can be according to the demand, for now there are many fans who want to be part of this fight by attending, but there are many things that have to do, as I have said on occasions, here the business model and the money are what they look at first, at least the fight is ready, the only thing left is to see where it could be, but as the article says, 3 possible scenarios.

So far no news yet as to what stadium, but as I have said 3 possibilities right now for the promoter to get which one will fit all the fans. Yes, it will be in Las Vegas for sure, gambling + sports betting = huge revenue for them.

I don't think this is going to be a secret, marketing starts with the boxers themselves and how they can sell the fights to their fans.

But so far the hype is there so no matter which venues they pick, fans are willing to pay and watch it live.
