Congratulations to Gervonta "Tank" Davis on winning against Ryan Garcia, that was a thrilling performance. I thought Tank would knock out Garcia instead he gave him a brutal body shot in the seventh round. And also, props to Ryan Garcia for his all out and aggressive performance. There is no need to feel shame for losing once, but make it your aspiration to continue your journey in boxing. I hope whoever wins the match between Daven Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko will face Davis.

I wouldn't say it's a thrilling performance though, for me still very close fight up to that point. Yes, Tank scored a second round knock down, but in the pivotal round, Ryan is doing good until he throws that right and then Tank just duck and he sees the opening in his solar solar plexus. Every boxer, how good they are, if touches on the right spot of the body, they will just simply goes down like what happened to Ryan.

It was a delayed reaction though and that it normal because when boxers are hit on the right spot, they will not feel the effect immediately, so it's not instant. But once it take effect, it will really take the air out of you and the pain will linger throughout your body.

Did anyone see a confirmation on Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence to fight on June 17 or is this confirmed to be really an April Fools joke? I am waiting more than 1 hour for the announcement.

I don't know if I missed the announcement or I was just busy on my day because right after the Tank vs Davis fight ended, I directly tuned up for the NBA games because in that same hour, it's still the LAL vs MEM (Game 3). But since you mentioned this now, I directly rushed to search it on google if there was indeed any announcement made regarding about the Terence vs Crawford fight but no, there wasn't any. Another disappointment, IBF should now make their move to give the mandatory fight.

Hehehe I was joking. It was already very clear that it was only an April Fools joke. I wished it was true, however. But it appears it might presently not become a reality. Sad

In any case, that post of mine was deleted by a moderator. Who reported it? We do not have the right to make jokes in the forum anymore?

^ Lol, but it was obvious, when they released then news that something big might be announced on the Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis fight. Everyone speculated that it could be the one that we all been waiting for.

We even had a thread and I saw a sports bookies listing the fight if I'm not mistaken. Crawford is the slight favorite. So I guess all we can do is again, wait if there is such announcement that this fight is already sealed by both fighters.

For now we should all give credit to this two fighters, for giving us the fight we want and then Garcia admitting his defeat to Tank. And morals here is that we need boxers like this two, specially Ryan who give all to the demands of Tank just to make this fight.

I guess it was premature to announce the Crawford vs. Spence match in the Garcia vs. Davis match. I don't think all are already set at this point even if the two already agreed to a fight. The announcement could also steal the limelight from both Garcia and Davis who were also staking their flawless records for the match. There should be another perfect time for that very big announcement, not the Garcia vs. Davis moment. Especially because neither promoters of the two fighters are promoters of either Crawford of Spence.

As for Tank Davis. I wonder if he is now ready to fight for a title. He should stop cherry-picking his opponents because I would love to see him vie for a title for a chance to become a 2 division world champion. His mindset of being the face of boxing though might be an indication that he will continue to cherry-pick his next opponents.
I already assume that few weeks after this fight, after we know the winner of Lomachenko vs Haney fight, there will be a hype that will surface soon, and people will start calling for Gervonta Davis to fight the current undisputed champion next because that is indeed the right thing to do. People are already tired seeing Davis fighting a less risky opponent as that's what he did in the past or what Mayweather did. But since he is now not with Mayweather, I guess there will be no issue for that fight to happen.

I'm pretty sure that there are many hardcore boxing fans tired of Tank cherry-picking his opponents over the years. Despite that, he is well-marketed by PBC and Showtime. And he is the biggest star of PBC and Showtime after Wilder's losses to Fury. Floyd Mayweather was the biggest superstar during his days and today his fans and supporters are in Tank's hype train. This also indicates that Showtime/PBC is nowhere near the level of DAZN/Matchroom when it comes to superstars of the sport and the talent flooded ESPN/Top Rank.

That being said, there is a big chance that Tank will become a champion. Haney is expected to beat Lomachenko and then will move up in weight which will vacate all 4 belts. Haney was already struggling since the rematch with Kambosos in making weight and I doubt he can hold for long. Tank has the regular WBA belt which means he will be elevated as WBA champion if Haney moves up in weight.

...And with that win, I shoot up Tank to be my #1 p4p list, followed by Naoya Inoue.

How about everyone? What do you think of Tank's performance here, are you with me ranking him the top p4p boxer right now?
Jeez, mate! You need to relax and take a breath. You just got carried away by the popularity of Tank and Garcia. Tank just beat another undefeated prospect. Only that it is more popular than his previous cherry-picked opponents. Garcia is not a world champion. Tommy Fury beating popular Jake Paul doesn't mean he is on the same level as champions Opetaia, Okolie, etc.

Tank's never been in The Ring's and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board's top 10 pound-for-pound. And his win against another undefeated yet unproven and non-champion Ryan Garcia won't merit an entrance to the top 10 let alone at rank 1.

Ryan is not ripe for this kind of fight,

He's ripe and we can see it to his record but Tank Davis is just so good for him. Davis exposed his weaknesses very well that's why he totally dominated him and got a huge victory on their fight.

losing by a technical knockout is not good for a superstar like him, he is good only for social media and still has a lot to learn in boxing.

One lose cannot break out his achievement also he's so young there's so many room for improvement so provably he will bounce back for this big defeat he encounter in the hands of Davis. That big lose is a huge wake up call for him that he need to improve more so that he can maintain his superstar status and also to defeat more big names in industry.

Yes, Ryan Garcia doesn't need to fret about this fight because after all, it's not a total loss on his side because there's an experience which he learned from it. That same experience will be his guide and be the reason to step up his fight even more to be more unpredictable because Tank Davis literally exposed him. Being strong is not about being undefeated, it is about how you stand up after you stumble.

Nonetheless, Ryan Garcia somehow improved on that fight like his defense has been improved wherein his past fights, you can't see him really guarding himself because he was too focused giving the offensive strikes. But even that is not enough to take on Gervonta Davis, better luck next time.
Ryan Garcia has an issue regarding on his past depression so lets hope this will not came up to him and he don't take those lose as total big deal on his career since he can bounce back after that big lose of his career.

He just need to learn from what he experience to Tank Davis since it can help to his career if he strive more to became more better fighter and let that lost as big learning experience to him. Maybe for now Gervonta Davis is to much for him and he should do better more once their rematch will be set to happen again.

True, I hope he accepts his loss and that it does not haunt him. It's just one loss, and he is still a good fighter. It might not be easy to come back to the top, but he is still young. As long as he learns from his mistakes, he will come back stronger, and he might have a chance to fight Tank Davis again.

As previously stated, if he loses, he will not have a rematch. Therefore, he needs to move on and come back physically and mentally strong.

You said that it is just one loss, but it's his first loss so it has a different impact on himself. Well, I guess that's what I know since he didn't experience getting defeated on his professional boxing career until that one against Tank.

Tank is too much for him, and many already said that. Garcia is too vulnerable when he is throwing his signature left hook, and Davis took advantage of it. I saw it one time where Garcia tried to do his left hook, but Davis is too fast for him that he just dodged it, then Davis threw a left hook that caused Garcia to defend himself, but got damaged on that one for sure. Tank's IQ inside the ring is just too much for anybody in his division. I wonder who will try to fight him after this win.

Like I said previously, there's no need for a rematch on this one after that one-sided match. Just a suggestion, but since the fight is over, maybe it's time to lock the thread?  Wink

Davis and his team really work on their defense him on how he is going to docked and then throw that left hook either in the body and or the face of Ryan. So in the 2nd round it on the money, and put Ryan down.

And so maybe Ryan is complacent and waiting that Davis will throw up in his face again. But then again, Tank opted to change tactics and throw that perfect liver shot. So it's obvious that we train very hard and has strategy. Just too bad that Ryan gets knockout, but it seems he is man enough to take that first L in his career and maybe take a rest and be back in the last quarter of the year with maybe a tune up and cherry pick fight.

Davis used his quickness and high ring IQ in that fight. Ryan Garcia is undoubtedly a great boxer, but that was the battle of the best and the best fighter here was Tank Davis. There won't be a rematch, which is unnecessary anyway since Tank Davis won convincingly in their previous fight.

So, what do you think is next for Tank Davis? Who do you think he should fight next?

No, I'm not, that's how I see it though, but at least let Tank be in the top 10 now. I just check Ring's list of p4p and I saw Juan Francisco Estrada at number 10. Nevertheless, might be the start for Tank to really up his opposition, maybe he should really fight the winner of Loma vs Haney.

Barring boxing politics and network affiliation, this could easily be made. Although Tank was asked this question if I'm not mistaken, but he didn't answer it directly. While Haney said he is willing to fight Tank next. Let's see how it goes, as I have said, this performance will at least break him in the top 10, IMHO. Josh Taylor is number 9 when he has a very close fight with Jack Catterall and almost lost that fight.

Since Davis is now more hyped from defeating Ryan Garcia, I will not be surprised if people will be calling Tank Davis to fight the winner of Loma-Haney fight. I guess it's already time too for that to happen, soon enough, because Tank has been holding the WBA regular belt for quite sometime now since he got in 2019 where he fought and defeated Gamboa by a way of TKO.

It make sense that Davis should be looking for the winner of Loma-Haney fight. It's just the question whether he is willing to go and chase any of those two, or will choose a fight for the money in 135 lbs. Rolly Romero's name has been popping up for a rematch, but not sure if the camp of Davis is willing to give him one.

And there will be no rematch for Ryan Garcia too, we've heard in the rematch that the rematch could only be activated if Ryan wins the first fight. Not even controversial result, it was a clear and dominant win by Tank via body shot knockout.

I think Ryan has overcome his mental issues already, since that one went into public, he has made a comeback already and now it's just the best boxer won in this fight.

It's not that Ryan will be affected or has been affected by this big lost, for sure he can make a comeback again as he have said in the post fight interview. And he has give us a hint that he might go up in weight class as obviously he looks drain at 136 lbs + rehydration clause of 10 pounds in fight night. Might take some time for him to recovery, but he promise that he will be back. Rematch with Tank is out of the picture as 135 lbs.

I hope Ryan Garcia can bounce back from his loss to Tank Davis. It was a huge loss for him as he thought he was the better fighter and could knock out Tank Davis, but the opposite happened. It's crucial for Garcia to win his next fight because a boxer who was previously undefeated and suffers their first defeat may not have the same level of confidence they had before.

Is a rematch still possible? I thought there was a clause or something that stated that no rematch would happen if Davis wins.

It would all depend on how good his next opponent would be and how prepared mentally and physically he would be at that time. Although Ryan is probably successful in his mental struggles as he has already managed to come back, train hard and focused on the gym, it is possible that this first loss could trigger a little depression. But it's always great that his family is always around him and is very supportive.

He needs to take a good deal of recovery time, builds himself stronger especially mentally, before getting his next fight at 140.

That's it. He needs to ensure that he is ready when he comes back so that he can start winning again. As of now, the debate is over. Tank Davis has proven to be the better fighter, and Ryan Garcia cannot trash talk him anymore, as we have already seen how strong Tank Davis is. Garcia is definitely not on Tank's level yet.

Yes, they are in a different league, Tank is just above him, and it will be a big test for Tank if he is going to face Haney or Loma so that we will know who is really the king of the 135 lbs. Ryan is below now and could be out of the picture for the next coming months to take a rest and rethink his options next (whether to stay or move up because his body can't take the weight drain). And hopefully, there will be no depression as a result of this lost on him.

I doubt if Mayweather aka Tank's promoter will let Tank to fight either Haney or Loma because Mayweather have trained Haney before, so he must be know Haney's power and compare it with Tank. Mayweather is an undefeated boxer, so my assumption he will make Tank following his path by staying as an undefeated boxer. I think Haney is better than Tank and if Loma can beat Haney, it's mean Tank might almost impossible to beat Loma.

Haney and Loma are both a good matchup for Davis, but I'd go for Devin Haney in this case. I mean we need to see more fight from an undisputed champions or undefeated fighters going against each other to solidify the claims on who's the best active boxer. However, what I really would like to happen next for Gervonta Davis is he go against Isaac Cruz once again. The first one was very very close and a very good fight to watch. Some boxing fans really wanted to have that rematch. I hope Davis won't get too afraid of blemishing his perfect record by refusing a rematch from a worth fighting opponent. Real warriors don't turn down opportunities to prove yourself against the doubters.

And as for Garcia, I don't think a rematch is a good idea. It's clearer than the sunlight that he's no match against the Tank. He should stick to his normal weight division (like what he said in the post fight interview)  to avoid these rehydration clause excuses.
