I can blame Ryan only for taking impulsive decisions. If it is mentioned, that coach wasnt with him during post-fight conference, it seems that he has fire his coach straight after that lose. I think it is wrong to take such decisions without re-watching the fight, finding your own mistakes and etc. It looks like when you win, coach is good, but when you lose, you throw your coach away, like it was 100% his fault of your lost.
To be fair, I would say the coach is partly to blame for his loss as well. Devastating as the punch may be, I think a boxer that has accounted for Davis's skills and move would've been able to counter it, if not dodge the punch outright. Which surprise surprise, is something that the coach will be able to help with. No matter what the reasons are for the layoff of said coach, I think Ryan's more aggressive and more hungry for a comeback. He'll definitely put his A-game in this next fight and provided that Gervonta keeps up with his record, this could be another great fight and potentially another rivalry that could very well sit alongside the likes of Pacquiao vs Marquez. Only time will tell though.

We will never know the real story, Oscar said there were death threats to him. Goosen is out after what we thought that he did a great job on Ryan, it's that Garcia didn't follow the instructions in the corner.

And maybe right now there is still confusion on Ryan and Oscar side, we don't know if they have spoken already. Maybe if everything clears up, we can see them in public again and chances are Ryan are going to stay with GBP or at least until his contract expires and then Oscar going hard and try to sign up again with bigger money.

Well, if that is truly the case, then these issues that we're talking about now shouldn't exist in the first place because if those death threats towards Oscar Dela Hoya were true then Ryan Garcia would've understood it clearly and would be the first one to know as he was the one who were alone in the press conference. But since the issue is alive, we can say that Oscar was just making up some stories because even Ryan Garcia is making a big deal out of it.

Only time will tell though.

We will see first if Ryan can get back from this big lost. This is his first L and we don't know if he has want it takes to overcome it and become a great boxer or will he take it very hard. The thing is that Ryan is very young, just needed some good people around him, although if you listen to him, he seems to be God fearing so that is a good sign already.

For the rivalry, if both of them goes to 140 lbs and then Ryan becoming a champion, then who knows, maybe they will have to share the ring again just like the great battle between Manny and JMM.

But the funny thing is, Goosen is saying the opposite thing where it was Ryan Garcia who didn't obey his advice that could've made a little difference compared to what we have seen throughout the whole fight where Garcia was literally like an amateur boxer or a newbie facing Gervonta Davis.

Moreover, Goosen also explained before that Garcia was lazy during their sessions and it's like he was not really 100 percent focused about their trainings.

That, I think was the reason why Goosen left him and didn't show up in the post-fight press conference because why should he be there if Ryan Garcia didn't even listened to what he was saying during the fight.

I honestly see nothing really great about Ryan Garcia. He is good but not great and I do not even think he will ever become a world champion. Or maybe he can upset a champion or win a vacant belt because he is gifted with power but most likely he is not holding a world title for long. There's a huge difference between Garcia and the prospect days of Teofimo Lopez, Adrien Broner, etc.

Let's just give him some time for now because after all, he is still young and definitely have some room to improve if he is that actually serious to be one of the greats one day. He already got the talent to bring any boxer down as long as he can touch it with somebody else's temple but that talent is not well taken care of and that's what he should do. For now, this loss he just experienced will wake him up and reflect on his actions, so that next time, he knows what to do.

Perhaps if he will just know how to protect or have good defense though, he could be an elite boxer. But he doesn't have that and the movement, still very amateurish that's why when he faces a great boxer like Gervonta Davis, he was really exposed and then others says that Ryan just quit and doesn't want to go and fight. He could have like the mentality of Amir Khan, than when he knows that he is going to lose the fight, he just take a dive and quit. So if he can fight a coach that can improved his lateral movements and cover his face and body more, then maybe he can recover from his lost.

I guess Ryan might not be satisfied on how him and Goosen put up their strategy. Anyways, we will see which one his going to pick next as he wanted to go and move up to 140 lbs.
That's probably the case and no matter how close they were as seen by the public, the results will speak for themselves and will make him realize that there's a need to change. Who are the candidates that he might pick or is anyone who's got a list of the potential replacement for Goosen after this parting ways?

I honestly see nothing really great about Ryan Garcia. He is good but not great and I do not even think he will ever become a world champion. Or maybe he can upset a champion or win a vacant belt because he is gifted with power but most likely he is not holding a world title for long. There's a huge difference between Garcia and the prospect days of Teofimo Lopez, Adrien Broner, etc.

Although he seemed to improve when he was accepted to join the team of Eddy Reynoso and Canelo Alvarez. But after his popularity continued to grow, he seemed distracted and tempted to enjoy life and it leads to their split. Joe Goossen is an experienced coach but he was probably picked earlier to cater to Garcia's demand.

After sacrificing and just following all of Tank's demands, the event was a huge success. Ryan can leave boxing and enjoy his life like he seems to always wants. Or maybe his ego is touched after the loss and will return. But if he wants to develop himself, he needs a coach that is Spartan-like when it comes to training and not a coach that will only follow his wants. I doubt Reynoso will open his doors again to Ryan. Maybe Sugar Hill Steward or Ronnie Shields?
Everything that you've said has the possibilities and we will never know the actual reasons for their separation. But then, with all of the distractions, it's possible that he seems to be liking the fame that he wants to enjoy. I doubt that he'll leave boxing yet, he's still young to get out of the sports and it's too early. Not that much achievement as you've said and that's why it's going to fuel his hunger for more success for the upcoming years, whatever he does, I'll still wish him luck.

All of that might be found on his new journey and as of now, it's already rumored that he already have another one to coach him but I don't think he will be given enough time because that same coach is also the coaches of Anthony Joshua, Charlo and Errol Spence. But I have no doubts that he can a learn a thing or two in this new coach because he also trained numerous champions already.

So it's going to be a repeat on Ryan Garcia as you have said, remember that he left Eddy Reynoso because he thinks that he is not giving him enough time, as Eddy had Canelo Alvarez that was his excused and so he parted ways and go to Joe Goosen.

So doesn't make sense to go to Derrick James then?

Anyhow, we wait if this marriage will work in the future, imagine Ryan becoming slick and improved his footwork with his new trainer. Because it seems that James is known to train black athletes so maybe he can improved Ryan a bit.

I would trust Reynoso and Canelo's words rather than the very talkative unproven Ryan Garcia. Reynoso has the time but he wants his precious time only for those that are fully devoted and follows his advice. The same with Canelo, he allowed some athletes like Oscar Valdez, Andy Ruiz, and Ryan Garcia to join his training camp but they need to train like hell and not bring negativity to the camp.

Derrick James was in my mind too but I did not mention it because the Charlos and Spence are very close friends of Tank. Spence seems cool but the Charlos might bully and laugh at Garcia if they are in the same camp. I can feel deep inside that Ryan is hurting and wants revenge because he was not given the chance to fight Tank at the weight class he wants. Maybe James can fly to the place where Ryan can establish his training camp but I am not sure if his ego is capable of surviving in the same training camp with the Charlos. There is even the chance of Tank visiting his friends in training.

Ryan won't become slick overnight but James can help him set up his punches properly and work on his defense. He really has the habit to become wide and open when he throws his power punch and Tank knew it.

I'll go for Tank, Tank has 12 title fights and Ryan is fighting for his first title shot, Tank knows the pressure inside a championship fight, he's been there and done that, and will do it again, we have their weigh-in hours ago and I have never been excited in a fight because so much is at stake here I'm sure it will live up to the hype.
Both fighters are totally hyped during the weigh-in, everybody here I'm sure will not going to miss this one as it is three or four years in the making, and now they finally going to face each other in the ring.

GERVONTA DAVIS VS RYAN GARCIA • HEATED FULL WEIGH IN & FACE OFF VIDEO!

Same here  Grin.

Team Davis was so wise enough that they have taken out the advantages of Ryan Garcia if they were to fight, I mean that size advantage was no longer there plus the fact that Garcia has never fought in this kind of fight in his whole career. But if an upset would happen (for me is unlikely) then it is very embarrassing for Davis because if we look at their record, Davis has fought more than 10 title fights to none for Garcia.

The only thing I'm hoping for here is that this fight would last 12 rounds.

Everyone is betting that Davis can win, but in view of what I have seen in some forums, some information that is going through some articles is that García is not going to make it easy for him, as far as I am concerned I think that García can hit the bump, and this can mean that many of the facets go under and those who win will have a great impact,I would be one of the few who would bet on García because I see that he is very hungry to win and silence many mouths, without However, in boxing anything can happen, let's see how all this turns out.

What do you think though? for me it's better for Ryan to just go back to Eddy then? I mean he has good relationship with Reynoso before and probably it's Ryan best interest that Canelo has said things in public against him. Perhaps Canelo's intention is for Ryan to really improved himself, but Ryan take it negatively.

For me I don't think that James will be a perfect fit for him as a coach, no offense to him, but the his style of coaching might not work with Ryan. So it's better to go back to where he all started his career, with Eddy's camp and for sure he can still improved and continue what they have started before instead of renewing another training pattern that he might have difficult to learn, in my opinion.

Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia: Approximately 1.2M PPV Buys; $22.8M In Ticket Revenue

We all knew that Davis vs Garcia was a great success but it also exceeded the expectation of some in terms of pay-per-view, especially in the US.

Have read an article that even if it only generated 450k to 750k view, it would still be a success but damn that 1.2 millions views was massive if that was an accurate figure they gave there. I wonder how much money if that views were translated in dollars and how much share would Garcia and Davis would get from it.

I agree, people demanded this fight, and so they watch it. So no surprised that it has generated that huge money for the boxers, promoters and networks. So if they can generate this huge numbers, just imagine Crawford vs Spence. But I guess they wanted more though, maybe guaranteed $10-$20 million first before they face each other.

Anyway, we might not see another fight of this magnitude, at least the hype and the buzz that it generates to casual and hard core boxing fans. Although there will be a Canelo fight next month, but it will be in Mexico so expect great live gates and PPV Buys.

Yes, things do indeed sound like that, but we have to wait, for me what they can do in this fight are many things, firstly Garcia, who has the least amount of bets from the fans, can do and win, but on the other hand Davis is a boxer who doesn't give up and will give everything, so it's a clash of forces, energy and apart from being a great show, and with respect to Spence and Crawford, I think Spence should have the pants here. say yes to Crawford and with that he takes that weight off his shoulders that I think torments him every day.

Just like what @TravelMug said, there's also a chance that Spence and Crawford is waiting for a bigger cut (guaranteed) from this fight because they know that it will be a blockbuster hit once they announce and settle it. What happened recently in Davis vs Garcia is just a smaller scale to what the Spence vs Crawford fight can bring, it will be a sold out fight in just mere few minutes and the organizers will literally make this fight in an outdoor area to maximize their profits from the people who wanted to see the fight up close and live.

I read somewhere that Eddy is still willing to coach Ryan. But it could be Eddy trying to be nice in public when asked but I am pretty sure he and Canelo will have their own sets of demands once a fighter trains with them. I actually had doubts before that their partnerships will last long for some reason. Canelo severed his relationship with GBP and started working with Matchroom while Ryan renewed his contract with Oscar. Canelo's name was constantly used for clout by Jake Paul and he is annoyed with it, there was even a time when he shouted at a couple of Jake Paul's team to leave. While Ryan Garcia started to become friends with Jake Paul.

I agree with you on that. James might help him but it's limited because the styles might be too different. IMO, it is better to hire a coach with a similar style. The goal is to correct his mistakes and avoid his habits while working on different strategies too. But Ryan can actually hire a coach per fight basis and can only renew them with a longer contract once he is fit with them.

It looks like Ryan is going to take Rolly Romero after the very controversial stoppage of Tony Weeks in Romero's title fight against Barroso, Rolly just called out Ryan and I'm sure Ryan will take it since he is going on 140 lbs. This is going to be a good match up both are hard punchers but with a weak chin and thrash talkers too.
But I want Ryan to take an easy 140-pounder fighter before taking in Romero, Romero is a dangerous fighter and you would not want a possible 2 losses in the early part of your career.

It's somewhat controversial win by Romero. But I think even before him winning and taking the belt, he has been calling Ryan Garcia. Perhaps he knows that he can beat Ryan or it will make sense as far as financial goes.

As you can see, both are trash talkers, so this will be one hell of a fight, both big punchers. But we will see if Ryan will go back to Reynoso or be on a new coach that will try to improved his defense and training. Ryan really need to focus and bring his heart every training, and I would have to agree with what Oscar said, if he is training then go to Big Bear without any distractions.

So yeah, not surprised by Ryan talking to Tank and getting his numbers. Or Ryan's mom hugging Tank Davis after the fight. And maybe it was the people behind them who really wanted to create all the drama to hype and they succeeded as it become the most watch fight this year.

After all, it's just a sport and they get in the ring just to give the fans the fight that they've been dreaming of, and after their job was done, they need to give themselves a peaceful life. I think it's really best to see them that way and for the other boxers that are talking too much and always below the belt of trash-talking, they need to realize that they are not there to talk trash and they should not focus on that rather they need to make it clear to train well and perform well inside the ring. Because most of the trash talkers ended up losing because their arrogance got them good and they didn't take the fight seriously, with no proper training and stamina after late rounds.

All this is very true, after having a fight and fixing the whole ring, things return to normal, this is something that we all know, now, if we consider that the rivalry is also part of the show, we can see that things are they are giving in the way that many want, they have fame, money, and there is that Adrenaline of a great fight, the bettors at the Maximum and everyone begins to have in their mind what will happen and how they will bet, the partialities, the Statistics begin to resurface, and obviously the one who does the best job will win, that's always the case.

Tank was easily to beat his kid Cheesy

Although Romero was going to be aggressive and dominating when he fought Tank, but he was make a mistake for chasing Tank too far and it make Tank outperformed him.

Garcia vs Romero might be interesting, the fight should be goes toe to toe and the loser might be lose via KO since both of them have a weak chin.

Lopez is also on 140 lbs division, we might see Lopez vs Garcia fight in the future.

This is indeed interesting to watch soon if it will happen because even if Gervonta Davis didn't sweat that much on their fight versus Romero, I can still say that the latter is still a decent one or even much impressive compared to Garcia. I know that Garcia can be more destructive at 140 but that is if he can hit that solid punch towards the agile Romero who's quite good at evading punches which is why he is Mayweather's second favorite next to Davis.

Anyway, let's wait and see if this rumored fight will happen soon because I don't think that Garcia will bite this one as he just got from a loss which mean that he needed someone first to bounce back to build confidence and hype before he will face the new WBA champion, Rolly Romero.
