I saw someone putting $1m on Spain on Polymarket to make a profit of $85k. That's an insane kind of risk and it has failed!

On the contrary, someone bet over $400k on Spain not to win against Cape Verde.

Gambling is all about risk and some people are taking this risk to another level. Who could have thought Spain would find it difficult to win against Cape Verde in their opening yesterday?

At least, it makes sense because the potential win is profitable unlike the guy that bet $1m to win a meager amount. That was uncalculated risk in my opinion.

I think whoever did that (great) bet probably checked Spain's results during the last World Cups: I know it sounds incredible but they struggled a lot: in 2014 they lost the first match 1-5 against the Netherlands; in 2018 they drew 3-3 against Portugal; then in 2022 they won 7-0 against Costa Rica.

Spain vs Cape Verde match was one of the biggest surprises of this World Cup that we ever imagined. The match  between Spain and Cape Verde is definitely the biggest surprise of the world cup so far. Personally I was expecting Spain to win this one comfortably with minimum of 3 goals, but I was so disappointed at the end of the match. Spain definitely had all the possession,  but Cape Verde were very disciplined defensiveness and they had a plan that they executed to the end. I know we all expected Spain to win, but we also have to give kudos to Cape Verde for being able to stop Spain from scoring and also getting a point in the game. I am very sure they will be very happy with that one point.

They couldn't have made a greater contribution to tourism for the country. Now the whole world is talking about them. We didn't even know such a country existed before, but now we know its population, sources of income, and cities.

That's insane stats. I know it's a bad stats, but it's another level bad performance. Spain owned majority of possession, yet he's unable touching it even once.  It feels weird how he being considered as Spain's secret weapon while he's playing even worsen than ordinary player in his squad.

Honestly, no one ever thought or even thought that the match would be like this or that the match would end in a draw. All the friends I know who are involved in gambling bet on Spain. They bet big amounts and they thought that Spain would win this match very easily, there is nothing wrong with that. Cabo Verde made their defense very strong and at one point it seemed to me that maybe Cabo Verde didn't think about attacking in this match but their main goal was to keep the defense strong. I was puzzled by Mikel Oyarzabal’s performance on the field. During the first 30 minutes of the match, he didn’t touch the ball at all, even though Spain dominated possession. Judging by the lineup, Oyarzabal was positioned as a false nine. But to me, regardless of the role Luis de la Fuente assigned to Oyarzabal, not touching the ball for 30 minutes is a sign that Oyarzabal is a disappointing player. I think Luis de la Fuente probably won’t start Oyarzabal in the next match.

I know you are making up your decision based on your analysis and what you think will happen but what I personally think will happen is that it is going to be tightly contested game because Senegal already know their place in this game They're going to be playing very defensive football knowing that the French team have a better attack. I see this game will not be a high scoring game as expected and I think a bet of under 2.5 is a better option. The Senegalese team are more than capable of holding the French team to a goalless draw or even a 1/1 draw because we saw how Morocco did against Brazil, and Spain against Cape Verde, it means that the African country Senegal who was able to defeat them in the Afcon final can do better.

France are actually favorite to win today's match against Senegal, this will be first the match in the group I and i believe France will be at the top today and will also finish first in the group I. It was surprising that Lamine Yamal did not make the starting lineup and was substituted at the 70' minutes of the second half. Though it is evident that Spain has a lot of talented players so I would want to believe that it was only a chance to give other players the opportunity to thrive as Cape Verde was seen to be an easy win.

It is the group stage of the World Cup so should be taken seriously, it was a really disappointing performance from the Spain team and I expect a better outcome from them on their next game.

Just as you said that gambling is all about risk, so you can’t pity who lose to gambling because when they win some big money, they will not come and tell you how good they did and the amount they have made.

Most of these big teams with high hope are yet to perform incredible in this tournament, we are yet to get a favorite in this tournament because most of these teams we were giving hope all failed because they didn’t win their first matches and we know how limited chances are in this World Cup, one match is very important in every stage because losing one match can get you out of the competition.

If you played Spain not to win Cabo Verde with a million dollars I will never trust your judgement and I can out imagine how many times you have lost and how incredibly you have lost, playing Spain to not win against Cabo Verde potential win is 4 million dollars but that's just once in a blue moon before such games comes through.
These games only look good when you win and you are seen as a great predictor and everyone is talking about gambling is taking risk and actually glorifying it but the hundreds of time you lose isn't talked about. Don't spend that millions or huge money on incredible rare chance game because of someone showed you they won.

One positive aspect of the current World Cup is that the smaller teams are playing good football. The negative aspect is for the bettors and for the supporters of the bigger teams. If this was the Algeria national team that won the AFCON in 2019, I would've said they stand a very good chance of either getting a draw or winning tonight's game against Argentina but considering the quality of players in both teams, I think Argentina will easily win the game. I am really surprised that out of these three teams you named, which are strong teams inasmuch as the world cup is concerned but non of them could win their match. I understand the match of Brazil because they played against a big team from Africa but how did Spain ended up playing draw against Cape Verde, and just when we are still talking about the match, another team namely Uruguay played draw against Saudi Arabia. Let's see how the other three teams you mentioned will end their matches because their opponents seems like an easy match but it may not be easy in reality. France will meet Senegal who has almost same strength as Morocco but considering the quality of France players, it is believed they will win Senegal. Argentina versus Algeria should be a winning match for Argentina. Then, Portugal versus DR Congo should also be a winning match for Portugal.
