For me, football won today. I'm not a big fan of Spain, but they truly gave a demonstration of elegant football. The Argentinians tried their usual dirty play, but the Spaniards didn't fall for it. There were a lot of scuffles, yes, but there was a point where Argentina was really going for it; it was impressive. I liked how all the players played, especially Cucurella and Ferran. Congratulations to Spain!

Although I consider Argentina a sister nation and was delighted that they reached the final, I wasn’t happy with the way they played. They were far too underhand, especially Paredes, who should have been sent off for a second yellow card as well. But when he started picking a fight after the match had finished, he showed what a piece of shit he is.

In any case, all’s well that ends well. Spain won the cup fair and square.

Fortunately, Messi had the chance to play in 3 finals. Many great players only make it to the final once. Messi won once and was on the losing side twice. But without him, Argentina would never have made it to this final. I think everyone will agree on this.

I may agree with you that Messi got some favourable decisions from Fifa, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a genius in the field of play. Someone like pele you are using to compare with him is not on the same level with Messi because the only player that matches such level is Cristiano Ronaldo, so is a big disrespect to compare messi with Pele that scored one thousand goals, but majority of it were upside.

At 39 he is still doing wonders, and you are here hating on someone that has shown absolutely brilliance and have entertained us all everytime he gets into the field. So in essence on what am trying to say is that winning the world cup doesn't make a player an exceptional player, because we have seen a lot of good players not winning the world cup, so it's best you are aware of this.

Spain managed to show its identity as a team that was able to dominate possession and the game, while Argentina seemed to be defending more and disrupting the rhythm of Spain game. Throughout the 90 minutes of normal time, Argentina did not register a single shot on target, although this final was a bit boring because there were no thrusts from Argentina that threatened the Spanish goal, but the Spanish players managed to make Argentina look like a mediocre team that was only able to withstand attacks from them. The final was 3x more tense than a normal match, one mistake, four years of regret.

I also saw a post somewhere saying the odds on Argentina not having a single shot on target in the final were around 500. Something tells me that someone actually placed that bet.

Agreed, but my best hopes for Spain's defeat were not fulfilled, so my two bets on  Argentina win brought me nothing except lost money. Losing bets always stings a bit, even when it's just six bucks. The emotional hit is worse than the financial one sometimes. You're absolutely right about Messi though, he is a brilliant player who has demonstrated that if someone has talent and skills, they do not disappear with age.

Argentina may have lost the final but they made history last night by becoming the first team in 60 years without a shot on target in a World Cup final.  When l said the team was pushed to  the finals, Messi fans thought it was trash talk. I have always maintained that Argetina’s defense is weak and will break under pressure. If only England had continued playing attacking football, Romero may have picked a red card in that game.

People are talking about the drake curse here and there, but they fail to talk about it most times when he wins, because their are some games he stake on and wins, so if truly the curse works, why would he be having some winnings instead of going on a countless losing run, but that's by the way.
 Spain is a deserved world champions, because their outing against the Argentine was a total dominance from start to finish. The final outcome of the game is not a total reflection of what transpired in the field of play, because if it is  not for the brilliance of their goalkeeper, it would have been up to five goals in regular time.

I think that's a bit harsh finals are often cagey because both teams are afraid of making costly mistakes, spain were the better side wnd deserved the win but reducing Argentina's performance to they played like shit ignores how discipline they were defensively, As for parades emotions run high in games of that magnitude passions is part of football even if it sometimes boils over.

I congratulate Spain for winning the final. I never expected how they will be totally isolated Argentina's gameplay. They even made Argentina recorded 0 attempts and shoot on target. It's hard to believe it by myself, but Spain is literally in another level of football.

However, there might be a chance for Argentina to push the game to the penalty if Enzo was not getting a red card. So sad he did something wrong at the crucial moment.

I also a bit disappointed with how Scaloni was not subbed off Messi when Messi ghosted the whole game, but it's already happened. So put respect on the result. I hope Scaloni learns from some wrongdoing of his tactic in this final.

Fifa prize pool for this world cup is a staggering $871M, compared to the previous world cup of $440M, that's like almost double that. Every team participating will earn a significant amount based on their performance (that is, when they were eliminated). Meanwhile, the champion goes home with a staggering $50M paid to their nation (players get around 30% to 40% of that).
I believe this is due to the large number of participants in this year's world cup tournament, and I'm pretty sure FIFA gained even more from this.
Anyways, congratulations to the Spanish team, they overwhelming dominated the game and came out victorious. Messi really wanted a second WC but things doesn't always go according to how we plan them. Kudos to Rodri for the best player award, I'm somewhat disappointed that Yamal didn't receive any award though.

Although champion gets around $50-51M, this money does not go directly to players. It goes to national football association. Later they distribute it according to their own rule.

Another thing, although I am fan of Yamal, he should not get an award just because he is popular. The way Rodri controlled Spanish midfield throughout the tournament, his passing, tempo and match control played biggest role in Spain winning title. So it seem completely fair to me that he gets Golden Ball. However I hope Yamal's time is still ahead of him, his age suggest that he will have opportunity to win many more individual award in future.

Honestly if I were to place this bet, I will only risk it to choose Spain to win, though it may be more risk to believe that Spain could actually beat Argentina, but all our doubts we are being made ascertain yesternight, taking a direct win upon Spain against Argentina sound ridiculous as at yesterday but today we can see that gambling could be anything possible and we can't predict a match until we see how they both performed in it, I never expected Argentina to play in such manner they did yesterday.

Seriously this FIFA World Cup final outcomes surprised me because I never expected that Argentina would actually suffer or struggle in such a way that it's final stage. A big kudos to Spain for this great work done, Spain completely dominated and controls every single touches of the ball throughout the match. I was actually expected much more from Argentina precisely the Messi, but he looked weaker and dull throughout the match. There's was no any hopes that may give his team or fans confidence to deliver, when they needed him the most, that performance wasn't impressive and the Spain has exposed every secret of Argentina yesterday. That means even in the previous matches they were favored. Congratulations to Spain.

I was used to seeing Argentina perform in previous matches of this World Cup, but I was surprised to not see their consistent performance against Spain. As you said, not having a single shot on target is very strange, but a team can do that if they are overconfident and think they are invincible. We saw how the team was defeated tactically against Egypt and how some responsible people at FIFA made many decisions in favor of the team in a biased manner that was against the principles. That is why we cannot accept such a failure of the team in the final match of this World Cup.

Spain really played an impressive team and they needed to win. The players played with great discipline throughout the match but out of frustration, some of the Argentine players behaved badly which is against the true tradition of football.

Fuente is a great manager. He has built a squad that has a very strong bond between the players. I didn't think Spain would win against France. But Spain dominated against France too. Against Argentina we only saw Spain's dominance. The Argentine players couldn't create any big chances.

Congratulations to the Spain team. They definitely deserve the World Cup. Their gameplay in the semi-finals and the final surprised me. After winning the Euro, the young Spanish team is now the world champion.

Congratulation for Spain team success winning FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating Argentina, last night Spain success playing well, dominance the games and high pressure for Argentina during 90 minutes until 30 minutes extra additional time without made one shot on goal yet. Bad attitude from Argentina players during the games until the match over, I don't know what did by Leandro Paredes after the match he loss control of emotion when push Gavi and Eric Garcia, indeed really happy Spain success become the winner but last night the final match really not interested yet how Argentina playing full defense since the early minutes.

I also want to congratulate Spain for becoming the 2026 World Cup champion. Spain truly deserved to win because Spain's strength was very strong in this match. Yes, sometimes I also don't understand Argentina because they couldn't get a shot on goal, even though in previous matches argentina always threatened the enemy goal well. But if you think about it, if Argentina didn't defend as much, Argentina might have potentially conceded more goals. But now it's all happened, and I also want to congratulate Argentina for now winning second place

For spanish supporters and those who bet on Spain to win, they must have been very happy watching last night's match because argentina didn't attack much. However, for those who didn't support anyone, it must have been boring because it wasn't like the England vs. France match where there were many goals and both teams attacked each other. The Spanish players are certainly happy right now, and the Spanish people are also happy because Spain last won the World Cup in 2010 before winning the 2026 title

That yesterday game show how good  the Spanish team is, the level of performance they put into that game and the fact that they were able to effectively control the midfield together with the defence, I still don't believe that the whole Argentina don't have a shot on target in a final game and that they only have two shots and it's not even on target, even before the red card, Spain were still dominating the game. The only thing is that Spain did not leave Argentina to get hold of the ball that much in the game and they used that opportunity to really attack Argentina very well. I need to commend Argentina for their discipline in defense.because even after the red card, they were able to hold the Spanish attack. But congratulations to Spain they really deserve it.

Sure, one-sided match was obvious yesterday, yet I give it to Argentina for their good defense, otherwise, they would have conceded many goals. In the end, a better side must take the trophy home, and indeed, Spain was the better side, and eventually won the trophy. Spain deserves this cup from all angles. It was France that I thought deserved it more, but with what transpired later, it's obvious that a shift was appropriate. As for Lionel Scaloni, I know people would talk, but what did you want him to do? This is a matter of a better side against the side they are better than. It will definitely show. Argentina only met with a stronger team, period!
