the game ended in a draw, I realized something very interesting which was the fact that ronaldo was captain of the team and he didn't even play many games, this is his first game, so why did he already become captain? I don't know what kind of criteria these teams in that league use when choosing the team's captain, but I think they had to choose the oldest player on the team to be captain, that player next to cristiano ronaldo, the guy is a good free-kick taker and he scores goals, he has helped this team a lot from what I can see, of course I only watched videos of this team's games so I could be wrong

Al-Nassr won 1-0. You could have thought that because Ronaldo's captaincy was unexpected. Remember that group leaders are chosen differently. Some teams pick the oldest player, while others pick the most experienced or most valuable player. Ronaldo's leadership and playing skills make him a likely Al-captain. Nassr's Ronaldo's captaincy doesn't require him to play every game. He'll lead the team in and out of competition.

The first debut and first win for Cristiano Ronaldo when he became the starting line-up for Al-Nassr vs Al-Ettifaq last night. I think even though he is a new player at Al Nassr, but with all the qualities and experience of having played in Europe's top leagues, CR7, in my opinion, is very worthy, even more than worthy of being the captain of Al Nassr.

Becoming captain of this match because he hopes that with Ronaldo's presence Al Nassr will be more motivated, more consistent, to a high level and win the Asian Champions League. We also know that the development of Al Nassr's game is now in the spotlight of the world public. now More than 30 TV channels, all CR7 fans around the world can watch Al Nassr matches.

They are good enough as a team even without Ronaldo, they were leading the league before he came along, I am not expecting him to be that much of a difference if you ask me in the result department. I am not saying he will be bad, of course Ronaldo will be a great player for them, and I think he is going to learn to play with his teammates and how they play and they are going to win the title with the help of Ronaldo for sure, I see them as inevitable champions.

What I am just trying to explain is that, if they didn't get Ronaldo, they would still win it no matter what, they would still be champions even without him, which is why I think they didn't get Ronaldo for success, they got him for PR.

I don't think a player has to play a certain time to be a captain of a team, he has been the captain for Portugal before and he has the best experience in "better" leagues, so I don't see a problem with him being captain despite being new.

@Sithara007 while a lot of fuss is being made about Ronaldo not scoring, but how about the fact that he had made nice assists but unfortunately those didn’t get converted in goal. Furthermore Ronaldo these day’s is just not about goals, he can assist too and inspire his teammates to win because of his champions mentality hence for me he had a decent game and thus I see no need to be behind him for not scoring goals in his debut match for his new club.

Adaptation is necessary for a player making his debut, but what concerns me is " why did they only win with a score of 1 - 0?". In that case they will be doing the same mistake that happened with the Portugal national team during Qatar 2022. Ronaldo had a couple of bad matches and the manager (Fernando Santos) responded by dropping him from the team. It worked well with one of their matches (against Switzerland), but backfired when they played against Morocco. They need to understand that when Ronaldo is in the field, all the attention from opposing defenders will be on him. And this allows the other forwards in his team to play more freely. His contribution to the matches can't be measured solely using the number of goals that are scored.

Definitely this was done for the marketing purposes. They paid 214 million dollars, what will be the ROI for them from merch and other things. I mean, if it was famous European football club in famous league, then definitely clubs would enormously profit, they would attract a lot of sponsors, money from merch, etc but Saudi Professional League is not a popular league, nor any team from this league performs well and is famous. So, I don't think even the CR's transfer would attract finances for them, especially when CR isn't performing well recently and he is 37 years old, going to retire soon.
Probably money isn't even a thing for them from this deal but Idk if this transfer has any real long-term value. This transfer was even bad for CR, first of all for his words with Piers Morgan and also especially for the reason that he won't be able to play against teams with competitive and experienced players.

His words are 100% true, CR7 is a flesh and blood human, he is not an alien or a robot. Ronaldo's lack of goals in his debut for Al Nasser, a club in Saudi Arabia, naturally led to a mixed reaction among Ronaldo fans. But it must be understood that no matter how popular a player is, he may or may not score goals in every match. There is nothing to criticize about this. Ronaldo's outstanding talent against PSG in the last friendly match really deserves praise.

Before buying Ronaldo, people knew very little about Saudi clubs. Especially if you compare one thing you will understand clearly.
