This situation is pretty sickening.  So sad to see that this type of situation continues to plague our hobby.

Just makes me appreciate all the more the likes of Mike and Noah who have done it the right way, at least up to this point.

I'm also out of a loan and the value of the cards. I was unable to peel any since they are sitting in Europe while I'm in Florida...

But the damage to the community is what I think is the worst part of all of this.

How much bitcoin has he known to have swiped in total now?

Realistically what can the police do? I don't see how they could help in this situation

It's a pretty open and shut case of theft and fraud and one that he's seemingly admitted to so the police should probably be easy to prosecute and I would recommend people do that unless he's going to act pretty swiftly to try return users funds which is probably unlikely. Seems to be a premeditated scam as well or at the very least something that he purposely left open to be able to steal in the future should he ever need the money.

Could be premeditated knowing the gambling issues he had.  Perhaps he was keeping a "lifeline" open in case he got in deep to "the wrong people."

It is a great disappointment to see a user with a very strong reputation on the forum to do such an unthinkable gesture. yogg has a +30 Trust score (and, I believe, before this incident his Trust score was even greater). He was active on the forum for almost a decade and his reputation preceded him. His project -- Cold Key cards -- was impressive and he also organized a great contest in parallel with the 10th anniversary of the forum.

I said all these without ever interacting with him; I only saw his activity inside the forum. And I can say that I was impressed by tenacity shown regarding his project.

However, without following his activity, I remember that, at some point, I saw a post made by him where he was saying that he has no motivation to continue the project. He seemed very depressed. Unfortunately, I can't find that post anymore. However, I found another post, where he was apologizing for his behavior and, without knowing the real situation, I believe that he did not deliver some already paid cards (highlight is mine).

Really I would like to thank everyone expecting items from me for the last year for your understanding and patience.
No one chose to take the refunds I offered, everyone preferred to wait it through and get the Coldkeys. [...]

Some of you are still waiting for me to get back to them.
I chose to take care of the outstanding orders in a specific way, so expect a message from me shortly.

I present to you my humblest apologies for how unprofessionally the situation was handled on my end.
This will not repeat itself.
I know why that happened, and I'm rebuilding everything in a way to prevent that from happening.

Now even without personally knowing yogg (meaning that I could not know about the gambling addiction mentioned here by others), only from the forum, this first incident would represent a serious alarm trigger for me.

However, he moved on apparently -- and only apparently -- until now.

Once more, the words I said a while ago represented a sad truth:

The bigger the reputation is, the bigger chances are for an user to make a transaction. As well, the opposite is true: an attempt of scam or a violation of a contract may ruin a reputation.

If at the first incident people still gave him some more credibility, he did not take advantage of that. For some reasons, yogg chose to completely ruin his reputation here. It is very unfortunate as, excepting his reputation he also lost his project, his customers, his incomes and so on. I believe his project was working well and, with some moderation, he was able to live from it. Now this chance is gone and, if he really has a gambling addiction then, most likely, even the scammed money will be soon gone.

And even if he will pay back all scammed victims, this will not change things back to the way they were. Maybe some will delete their negative feedbacks; maybe the flag created on his name will become inactive; yet none of these will give him the most important thing he lost: his credibility.

Seems to be a premeditated scam as well or at the very least something that he purposely left open to be able to steal in the future should he ever need the money.

There was 1.6 btc loaded on to all the coldkey halvings by my calculations. Probably a little more with prototype/proof versions. Coldkey Raffle allegedly held .19 btc (from Yoggs post) but based on the coldkey website he sold a lot less than that (214 in stock, 42 sold x .0025 funding = .105).

By my calculations- he was able to steal less than 2 btc right off the bat. Sold out his name, his company, his friends, EVERYTHING- for 40k. Now I’m sure he wasn’t counting on people watching addresses, but he obviously doesn’t know Yoda. At Yodas pressing, I had just finished uploading all my collectibles addresses into the btc tracker app a day or 2 before. So even tho my cards were not in hand, I could instantly verify that they were swiped.

I personally consider all Coldkeys made after the halvings as definitely compromised and will most likely be swept. You do not keep a copy of the keys of just one release and then stop. The earliest coldkeys may still be safe as hopefully, Yogg didn’t plan from the get go to be a scammer, but all premium is gone - so I would obviously peel them.

Sounds easy and clear in theory but we are talking about France & EU laws here. So police will not smash doors and Interpol will not search usb drives for stolen BTC so they can hand them over to their rightful owners => instead Coldkey as company will be forced to shut down and creditors will get a proportional share of sold bankruptcy estate... in about 1-3 years from now.

Look, no court and not country here is anymore interested in justice and ethical things like that. It's all about the money which the state makes during the process while lots of people have work and BOTH ends (plaintiff & defendant) get milked like a cow. End of story.

Even with legal protection insurance in place you wouldn't want to come anywhere near the bureaucracy of our failed legal systems... no matter how right or innocent you are.

Edit.
Of course it's important that you report it to the authorities and bring this to court but from my experience you might get back 10% of your loss after several years of fighting for it. For collectors outside of the EU this whole experience might get even more 'interesting'.

all my collectibles are loaded as well in a program, Awesome miner - which I use for my mining farm monitoring, so part of it also has a wallet watching feature. so every loaded collectible i have is there with the exception of XMR items

my point in the above, is that yes it is good that yoda was watching - and everyone should do something similar to watch their collectibles addresses.

Might be more helpful if someone will post a scam accusation about this case on proper section so that many will be aware about this case exist.

What yogg did really hurt the collectible industry, because on what he do for sure many collectors doubt to buy another the same like collectibles since they are afraid that same scenario might happen to the.

This is so bad since he is supposed to be a reputable user but looks like he put an end point on that and decide to deceive people for the sake of money.

How do i send my BTC from a cold key?:
You cut around the hologram on the back with a sharp knife and pry it open (making sure not to scratch the QR code underneath). The QR code contains the private key which you can sweep with Ballet Wallet/Coinomi/Mycelium/etc.

can someone explain me step by step how to get the funds transferred from the coldkey cards with the ballet wallet app?
the app does not accept the qr code/priv key...

You can’t use the ballet app if you don’t have a ballet wallet to sweep the funds. The coinomi app worked best for me.

Might be more helpful if someone will post a scam accusation about this case on proper section so that many will be aware about this case exist.

Most of the affected user is active here on the collectible section and only few of them checks the scam accusation board frequently. Redeeming the ColdKey balance is the top priority here and not informing everyone(including users that is not directly involved) in the forum about this case.

This is so bad since he is supposed to be a reputable user but looks like he put an end point on that and decide to deceive people for the sake of money.

This is the side affect of gambling too much money that you can’t handle. Yogg is a victim of a gambling addiction which obviously use whatever resources that he have for gambling. I once become addicted and peel one of my cas coin just to gamble.

The main question here is will the community trust other collectible items that undergo with same funding method. Yogg is very trusted which means other creator might turn to this too when they faced a dire situation.  Huh

How do i send my BTC from a cold key?:
You cut around the hologram on the back with a sharp knife and pry it open (making sure not to scratch the QR code underneath). The QR code contains the private key which you can sweep with Ballet Wallet/Coinomi/Mycelium/etc.

can someone explain me step by step how to get the funds transferred from the coldkey cards with the ballet wallet app?
the app does not accept the qr code/priv key...

sent you a message on discord can walk you thru if you need help.

I will still trust new collections. Most are funded with 0.001 - 0.01. Some not even funded. Just remember to pay your ledger / trazor first. And then buy a little for the eye after.

you scratched your coin but you didn't scratch your friends coins!

What he did is sacrilegious  amongst us collectors.

Unforgivable no matter what the circumstances.

I ain't no whale and the money I just lost I worked and still

Work very very hard for. He stole from my family's mouths.
