Maybe it's the hope that what they missed with Bitcoin (being one of the lucky people who bought some for cents and kept them) will repeat with another blockchain.

I don't think there will be another Bitcoin if we are talking about gains i.e cents then it will go up to $69k. ETH is the only closest thing that we have next to Bitcoin. People can try and invest more on it because maybe there are still more gains that ETH will make.

Even though Bitcoin is already matured, there are still lots of people who continues to invest on it more than any other coins. People are so practical nowadays that they consider their safety over the risk. With reduced risk, it still possible for them earn a profit but if they got scammed in a new born coin, then they won't get any profits and the worse of it is that they also lost their capital.

First i wanna correct you information that there aren’t many coins and tokens which is the opposite and investing in altcoins might seem attractive due to their lower price and potential for higher returns compared to Bitcoin if you buy a small amount of it Nevertheless it's essential to recognize that altcoins are generally more unstable and have a higher risk of losing value quickly so it is importznt to investigate and assess any altcoin's potential before investing and buying it. I think the average answer will be almost the same, namely a little profit from the hype of the altcoin project, I also always look for other coins and put a small part of my money to take profits when the price is pumping, but yes in altcoins the risk is quite very big because there are many possibilities of collapse in In the near future, like the previous year, there were 2 companies or altcoin developers who experienced failures in their projects, so many people lost when that happened.
I prefer to wait for the moment when a certain altcoin is experiencing good development with the potential for hype.

I have seen that it is possible to make a lot of money by investing in Altcoins and there is also a chance to lose money. I have seen a lot of money by investing in some Altcoins. Again, I made some wrong decisions and lost money by investing in it. So I  I think it is good to invest but you have to invest in the right coin if you don't invest at the right time it will be impossible to make a profit I think.

I think it's because more profits. I got 200 Solana from airdrop. After 6 months SOL price was near 200$ somehow. So basically I got 40000$ easily. but I sold it when it's around 80-85$. As my experience alts are good for make short term profits. But it's too risky.

going up fast and down very fast too, altcoins like that are just altcoins used for pump and dump then they will disappear and be abandoned. A lot of meme coins have been hype with very fast returns but then rugpull. Instead of expecting ROI, the project just gets abandoned and dies slowly. The risk of altcoins like that is indeed very high, out of 100% who join, maybe only about 20% can succeed and make a profit. If you really want to get into altcoins, it's better to enter the top altcoins, but if you want to try a higher risk with big profits, a new project that is currently hype might be an option, but at your own risk.

Agreed. It seems almost impossible to invent something that is disruptive in a way that is comparable to Bitcoin hitting a pre-decentralization finance world. Still, you will find people who advertise their altcoin as if it was there to supersede Bitcoin, and who knows, maybe there are people buying into that narrative.

A more realistic way to think about it might be to consider the gain that Bitcoin might still be up to, and compare it to the gain an altcoin might achieve. This might be on par, who knows. Another question would be how many altcoins have even a chance to sustain.
