Serious question: it was true that Djokovic was not looking super healthy in that game against Zverev. Is everyone sure that he would have given up if he won the first set in the tiebreak? I am not sure what he would have done. He knew he can't come back physically after losing the first set, but anyone saw the interview already and whether he said he would give up anyway?

I think that he wouldn't given up after 1st set, but that would be matter of time. There is no point to play injured - you still would lose most likely and then you may be forced to miss significant part of season because of injury.
There was some signs last season, but now I think we see beginning of the end of Djokovic era. He is still great and I hope that we will see him lifting Grand Slam trophy or trophies, but his body is startingto show signs of age.

I agree, it is hardly imaginable that he would go a full five set game on the very highest level against a player who is physically at his best. The only chance he has is to finish these games early, but that is kind of contradicted by what I said before. It's unlikely that he will finish off top 5 players or even top 10 players in straight three sets in a Grand Slam semifinal. It would be too bad because the level was very enjoyable in the first set at least sometimes. He can still be a machine, but he perhaps can't be a machine for five sets and this is what you need against players like Sinner or Zverev on a good day.

I didn't watch the interview, but here is what Djokovic said about the injury.

"I did everything I possibly could do to manage the muscle tear that I had"
"Towards the end of that first set I just started feeling more and more pain."
"I knew even if I won the first set, that it's going to be a huge uphill battle for me to stay physically fit enough to stay with him"

I don’t think it would have mattered even if he’d won the first, he probably didn’t know the severity of the injury or what exactly it was, and felt he could still play through it, with the level of physical intensity that is required in tennis there definitely is no way he could play for ~2 hours more with a torn muscle, he’d probably just worsen the injury.

4 minutes is huge yea. He still needs to make repairs on his car, he doesn't have infinite time to do it so will also surely drive with some sort of handicap.
Ogier was my favorite for the win here even before Neuville crashed, I'd say there isn't even 1% chance he's getting on the podium.

I feel the same way, Djokovic's retirement is not exactly an advantage for me, but I can pretty much write off this round anyway, I've got zero points so far and I don't think I can win against my opponent, I've just had no luck at all with my results this week.

My point will be come into play a bit later with doubles, need Italian combo to win the title for a chance to turn Saint-loup in this round. 3:1 down but with advantage in tennis since his pair is out. Mine now needs to bring it home.

Both girls playing well in the 3rd, will be interesting to watch. Sabalenka hitting better and better so advantage is on her side but she usually has a bad game when few of those monster shots go wide and Keys will have the chance for sure.

Oh man congrats, it went good for you but not for me. All I needed was either Sabalenka or Andrea/Simone to win and now I have to put hopes on the doubles. My opponent was out on all 3 picks, while my Djokovic pick is the only one out today. BADLY needed the point because I'm down 2-1 so need 2 points more minimum to get LMS safety. The Rally news is good for me, then in this case I need lots of Bundesliga goals, or Napoli to win, or Arsenal to win big, and Chelsea not losing with few goals. Dangerous weekend coming

Nah, I don't think he would give up if he had won the first set, but after loosing it he knew he had mountain to climb so better just call it quits.

Anyway, glad to be proven wrong on that question (not glad that he quit due injurty though) as I seriously started to think that he will win this tournament after that performance vs Alcaraz and the post interview.

It was hell of a lucky day for me in tennis today.    Sabalenka and Bolelli S. / Vavassori A. both lost. Now I only need Sinner to win against Zverev in the finale tomorrow...

Meanwhile it's 3-3 now in my game vs shogun47. I'll need Napoli to finally break Juventus' unbeaten series since the beginning of the season in the Serie A. The game has just started so let's go! 

If Napoli win today then Sinner's win will make me the winner of the game without looking at the result of the last question. I hope so because of getting draws quite often in the BSFL lately.
