.../Q/...::: Actually I thought it was clear therefore I must say that I'm quite surprised about this topic. We didn't have any problem last year as we had a quite small pool. But I assume there can be this kind of problems sometimes when the number of people increases. I apologise from everyone for all the problems happened. Believe me I didn't have any bad intention. I just wanted to create an F1 pool as it would be entertaining and I created the thread after Sportsbet.io accepted being the sponsor, that's all.  

Nothing is wrong, there is nothing to apologize for, you are the captain of this pool, in the case of my post, I am only taking a position on your reaction, which surely comes as a cause of  "🥄 out",  anyway, I think that a first general call, without the nick tag, would have been "elegant," this it Formula 1, Smiley, the point is that you come with an "off track" car and launch the post.

The other matter is that these unwritten rules are assumed between gentlemen, but from there to think about using and naming flags, etc. It's a bit off topic in this thread, plus you're dealing with people who are surely weighing an "ideas"  Vs. sharing with the community, or the simple enjoyment of being to compete, I'm not going to get rich if I win a Pool.

Anyway, this Topic is the Paddock, hence, the debate and these differences should only bring us closer as a group, for me this topic ends with this post,  let's talk about Formula 1

I'm really very happy to see that there isn't any problem. The last thing I would like to do is to break people's hearts.

My intuition (it's such a nice word, it's more like a random coinflip for me when it comes to F1) is that alonso will miss out by a whisker -- he should be Top 5, but not a podium finish.

Now whether or not I translate that into my BSFL picks is another coinflip.

Anyway, don't worry CLS63, lesson learnt, it's really funny about this fee thing isn't it? It really is not a big deal, and most of us have some form of BTC income from the forum itself, it's always a much lower fee than what most weeklies pay out. Anyway, moving on.

I totally agree. It is a really funny situation. Anyway I learned my lesson from this. As you said as well there is no need to talk about it more. When it comes to the Alonso topic I don't assume to see an Aston Martin driver on podium this week. I hope LFC_Bitcoin has answered yes to this question.

I just saw the odds changing today a little bit. Verstappen is still favorite followed by Perez but now Leclerc and Alonso are sharing 3rd place favorite finish.

But interesting for me to see is odds on fastest lap is very very high for alonso/8x, Hamilton/25x, even Perez/6x. So my question is, is it really just down to the car? Don't many drivers also can give a good lap time in a weaker car?

After my wooden spoon 🥄 moment from the Bahrain Grand Prix, clearly this was a sign I had quite a lot going on at the moment and didnt have my head in the game , &  unfortunately will be sitting this one out, thanks for the opportunity team motorsport. All the best to all.

Wow, what a bummer. Participate in a betting game, make the last place in the first round and then withdraw and not pay the participation fee. Quite a strange move and very unfair to all other participants of the pool. But anyway, I hope the organizers and sponsors of the pool draw their consequences from this move.

It is a dick move but nothing you can really do about it. Kick woodie out of the pool and that is it. Put him on your private black list and demand money upfront from him if similar situation presents itself.

Pretty excited for the second race of the season. I read plenty of F1 articles this week and I honestly have to say this sport is quite interesting, haha. Looks like the F1 got another fan!

I don't think we need to wait to see the Friday practice for this track.It is going to be a dominant Redbull as all other teams no matter how brave they may be or how talented their engineers may be,they cannot do a lot in just a 2 weeks time and with just the data from the first race.Sure they can upgrade or fine tune a bit their cars but I have no doubt that Redbull will dominate in the official qualifying as they have the luxury to not give a damn about the Friday practices,they know they are the top team,with a much better race package than every one else.

I think we can start to see other cars improvements after at least 5-7 races have passed and the teams have had enough time and enough data to upgrade their race package.

Alonso and Aston Martin overall could look good in the races before F1 goes to Europe.  That's around 5 - 6 races or so.  It's when they get to Monaco is when the teams have had enough time knowing their cars more and knowing the needed tweaks with their set ups.  I wouldn't count out Mercedes just yet even tho there are rumors that Hamilton is disenchanted with his team and could do a Schumacher and join Ferrari.  Hamilton has a nose for knowing which team is going to do well in the future just as he did with Mercedes.  At the time, almost everybody thought it was a huge risk for him to leave McLaren and join Mercedes.

interesting enough is that Sainz is fifth in row to finish on podium, but second to finish into top6, so no expects from him to shine, but he is a reliable to finish race into top6, probably based on last season results, he always finish (and then he is into first 6), but rarely catch podium (4,5,6 are his places)

I totally agree here but after all, he can still change his opinion and pay the lousy 2 mBTC participation fee. By refusing to pay that fee, it would result in much more damage for him and I'm sure leading pool organizers and sponsors will keep it in mind (in a negative way), since Sportsbet.io already sent out free bets, too, from what I've noticed.
Formula 1 season is very long (over 20 races) and even for the first race, we have seen a wide range of points, which makes it easy for current backmarkers in our Pool to catch up even only in a few races.
After all, I hope he will change his opinion, pay the fee and stick to his initial decision to participate here.

I've seen a report that Leclerc will need to take an engine penalty in Jeddah.
After his DNF in Bahrain, some parts of his engine seemed to be damaged and Ferrari has to replace it already the second time:

“Over Sunday, we had two different issues. The first one was on Sunday morning when we did the fire-up, and the second one [was] in the race. Unfortunately, it was both times the control unit. It’s something that we never experienced in the past, and I hope now it’s under control, that we have a deep analysis of this. But unfortunately, we will have to take the penalty in Jeddah because we have a new pool of control units for the season.”

With only two control electronics permitted throughout the season, there were immediate concerns after Bahrain that a grid penalty was possible.

Leclerc’s penalty will take a 10-place grid drop for a change to his CE (control electronics), meaning his Sunday could be a race of damage limitation.

So, most likely 10 places grid penalty incoming for Leclerc.  
It's a track, where overtaking is possible and a Safety Car can also change a lot but a podium seems unlikely for Leclerc...

Yes but thath its because they know Sainz has to follow orders team, so they can said to him to let Leclerc pass and plus they know Red Bull its ahead, you have here 3 position lost.

And he is a really good second driver but he lack that extra to be a real champion. Here in Argentina we can say he its more like a Reuteman than a Fangio.
(Fun fact: Reuteman daughters are fighting to give his father the world title after one declaration of Eccleston saying they robbed him basically).

About Alonso podium, he have the level and have a good car, but we see Ferrari its a little more better than Aston and if they dont have problem Leclerc can easily go ahead of him, but with this sanction against Leclerc we can see a better chance for Alonso.

About Ferrari engines.... i dont know what to think, are they using chinese steel from the 80?

Even McLaren has gone down very fast after becoming Champions in 2008 for the last time,it took them 5 years up to 2013 to screw it up completely and they are still not figuring it out,so that is a lot of years in vain trying to make the perfect car,it is funny how they switched from Honda to Mercedes and they are seeing now that Honda is winning Championships,patience is all that is needed with Japanese premium brands like Honda as in the long run they have always sorted it out.

Today we have the free practices,do not forget to watch them everyone to have a clear insight of the cars,I know almost nothing has changed but who knows how hard the runners up teams have worked in their cars so we can see some surprise results today.

I already did and after seeing the Friday 2 sessions of free practice it is clear that Redbull will continue to dominate again in this race if all race conditions are normal (no crash,no Safety Car or Virtual Safety Car) they are going to win this one too,Verstappen has already topped the two free practices and Alonso is right there,no improvement at least in these free practices from Ferrari or Mercedes.It may be going to a really boring race for us fans of F1 as most likely Redbull will dominate from start to end but at least we have this pool here to keep our emotions high because we route for every driver that we place in the top 10.

Max Verstappen is big favorite for this Saudi Arabia Grand Prix and I think Red Bull has fastest formula car this season.
I think Fernando Alonso canmake good result this time and take advantage of Leclerc serving grid penalty.
Lewis Hamilton is big unknown for me, but I expect to see him in one of the top five positions.

It seems that Aston Martin is equal to or even faster than Ferrari, my pole position tip was actually Perez. But now I'm not changing my tip, but it seems rather unlikely that Perez can achieve pole position, my podium tip for tomorrow is also rather unconventional, but in sport there are always surprises. Now let's wait for the qualifying.
