Unfortunately, my prediction of Hamilton as the winner didn't work out, but with a bit of luck I guessed the podium, just in the constellation of Hamilton, Verstappen and Alonso. But it was a bit different, but that's how it is.

Otherwise a decent race, Ferrari was even better than expected and Mercedes confirmed their performance from Friday and Saturday, so on to the next race.

Finally I saw a Ferrari strategy that worked out well for them as they both ended the race before Perez which was the maximum they could do during this race.Perez once again showed how a mediocre driver he is and I would agree on Redbull changing him for Ricciardo if possible,I am sure Ricciardo would not be as mediocre as him with this excellent car he has to drive but unfortunately the Perez contract does not permit it.

If you found all podium places correctly you get a nice additional 2 points bonus and in a race like that with Russell and Stroll out of the top 10 those 2 points are of vital importance,personally I did not well for the second consecutive race and I am losing steam in this predictor pool of F1 this year.

It looks like rdbase and Betwrong are sharing the points on this race week. Cograts to both of them for their great work!  

When it comes to the race it wasn't the most exciting one for sure. There wasn't any competition for the win as usual and Verstappen got a strong win again. However the competition between Alonso and Hamilton for the 2nd place was really worth watching. It has been a long while since Ferrari did a good job with strategies in a race. Leclerc - Sainz duo finished 6 places above their starting places. It was a really bad day for Russell because his simple mistake at that turn caused him to crash into the wall. Even though pit crew did a great job about preparing him to return to the race he couldn't finish it.

I put Hamilton for fastest lap, but sadly Perez and Red Bull make a "free" pitstop and put new soft tyres, and steal the fastest lap. I cant say so much about the race, a lot of DRS trains the only good thing its i can see in this race the gap between MV/RB and Aston Martin/Mercedes seems a little bit less significant.

Ocon's podium in Monaco is still very special but also very different from a Bottas podium in Canada.
Ocon is driving in an Alpine car, it's a midfield car and much better compared to Alfa Romeo. That way and having a bit of luck, Ocon was able to get a good qualifying position for the race.

Yeah and now Bottas sitting way out down on the starting grid, it's going to need several minor miracles for a podium finish (hence the downgrading of bookie odds again). Superbru predictions are what matter this season, of course, so I'll still be keeping an eye tonight if I'm not overcome by old-age sleepiness.

At least, Bottas got a points finish today (position 10), he scored 2 points finishes in 8 races so far. So overally, it's still been a great weekend for Bottas but a podium is pretty much impossible this season for him.  


Congrats @rdbase for winning this round, pretty difficult to predict this weekend and probably Ferrari would have been strong if they don't start so far back from a bad qualifying result.
Ferrari really had a good start, a good strategy and good race pace. Especially running on medium tyres so long was pretty impressive as Ferrari seems to have made a big step in tyre management. Normally, Ferrari is known for bad tyre management.
Even Perez was too slow and after his pit stop, he lost 10 seconds to both Ferraris until he made an additional pit stop for fastest lap.

I think he had a really big odd Bottas to be in top 10 drivers and I think those bold enough to bet on him in the end of the race to be inside the points threshold got a nice reward for their courage.The race was boring yes but it is because of all other teams not being able to keep up with Redbull and what makes it even more boring is the fact that Perez does not know to drive well enough in order to put pressure on the other cars,I am sure if it was Verstappen in Perez place would have been in the podium as a minimum,his driving style is much more aggressive and that is what is needed from a driver in F1 in general,not some drivers who just know how to drive a F1 car.

I agree with you on this topic. Perez couldn't even overtake Ferrari drivers and the race also ended up badly for him. The whole weekend was a mess for him of course. At least he went for the fastest lap by getting soft tyres before the end of the race and became helpful for his team too by getting that extra point.

If Perez goes on being inconsistent throughout the season then I think he might even be replaced by another driver before next season. He signed a two-year extension on May 2022 but this doesn't guarantee his place in the team anyway. Let's say Red Bull decided to do this then one of my favourite options would be Alonso. I feel confident that he can be a great rival for Verstappen for the championship. Alonso is still very competitive and hungry for winning another title.

Also , after Ferrari won LeMans , I went with Lec to get another podium , followed by a victory and 1-2 podium for Ferrari with both Max and Lewis having a DNF as I didn't take neither of them for top 10. Instead , I went with Perez to take 3rd place and also the fastest lap of the race.

I did the same and didn't change my picks after quali...  But I got my best result in the pool thus far because of it.    I think I'll be doing just that from here on out.  I don't think I'll be fighting for the money spots anyway since I'm ranked 22th at the table.

Can't wait for the next races, Austria, Silverstone, Hungary then we go to Belgium!  I hope it doesn't rain in Belgium. Spa is prolly my favorite track of all time.

Spa I think is the favorite of all the F1 fans as it is a track well over 7 km,the longest in the F1 calendar and a very technical track which somewhat emphasize drivers skill more than the car power,of course the car power is needed to win the race but I am talking here about the fight for the other spots as 1st and 2nd most likely are Redbull spots here if Perez does not screw up again.

Good for you that you got that many points with random picks,in fact it was tight there in the standings from what I have seen not a lot of differences in the first 15 spots so keep going with randomness and who knows you maybe coming for those prize spots until the end.

Exactly, I got extra points for the whole podium, not a bad week with 13 points, but to catch up with the leaders it was not enough

Ok I didn't do too badly on hindsight, though have to say in this pool finishing two points off the pack leaders is quite a distance... Seem to be either dropping off a position or keeping steady every race but just have to keep hoping one of you bastards slip up.

It would have been better if we saw some competition for winning the race. But I still won't say that it was a completely boring race. Because in the other areas there was a really nice competition between drivers. Alonso and Hamilton were comfortable about having a podium finish. However there was still a lovely fight between them for the second place.

Both drivers seemed quite contented with this delightful competition. It would have been nice to see Perez in Alonso's place. Because I picked Perez for the second place.    But that horrible qualifying performance made things very difficult already. We couldn't see a proper climb from him either. Verstappen is again alone in the leadership.

Last year,the first season of this predictor pool I started from the very bottom place but in the middle of the season I did 8-9 consecutive races missing the top place by just 0.5 to 1 point and that is what brought me to that third place which was the last place of the paying spots.I had even lost three times the EBP and the pole sitter.Why am I telling all this,because consistency is key in this pool,as long as we do 0.5 to 1 point distance from the first place every remaining race there is no chance that the one who achieve such result won't end up in the paying spots,that is what I think the beauty of this pool,there are always chances to catch up here much different than football pools.

Bottas was really quite impressive last weekend. He managed to get that one point by finishing in 10th place. However Norris' 5-second time penalty due to double-stacking in pit lane also was a big help for Bottas. Alfa Romeo is having a quite difficult season so every point is really important for them.

Zhou is indeed doing good against Bottas this season. Considering that Bottas is a much more experienced driver this is a good work by Zhou. As long as Alfa Romeo doesn't bring a huge update package in the near future it looks difficult for them to have a consistent season.

Yup! That's precisely why I think I need to really improve my performance. 2 points off the top every race is not enough -- you do need 0.5 to 1 point off it, as you say, consistently, to ensure you make a great overall season. I chased too early last season actually, trying to catch a break but the key in F1 (actually, all pools) is just to stick to a strategy that brings as many points as possible. To be fair, I also think that works for football pool. In seasons I've won, I've tended to just stick to the conservative picks after getting a good position.

Really difficult to say, Perez seems to be very inconsistent depending on tracks. In Baku for example, he seemed to be faster compared to Verstappen, even not considering Verstappen's bad strategy, where Verstappen boxed too early. Perez also won Sprint in Baku.
On many other tracks, Verstappen is much better compared to Perez but Verstappen is consistently better than the rest of the field, while Perez had several races, where he missed the podium.

Maybe Canada was a difficult race for Red Bull in general because also Verstappen didn't get a dominat gap to Alonso / Hamilton as usual.
Tyre degradation has been very low in Canada. Even Ferrari didn't suffer from tyre degradation.
So, probably tyre degradation is a factor making Red Bull dominant if we'll have high tyre degradation because Red Bull is an efficient car.

While in Spain for example, Red Bull was much more dominant, we had much more tyre degradation.

Maybe it's related to that and Perez is just a multiplicator when a track doesn't suit Red Bull.
I remember Australia as well, where Perez had a horrible performance, Red Bull wasn't dominant there as Verstappen won but was overtaken by Hamilton early in the race, until Verstappen overtook him back.

Only just noticed these mentions so it was nice to see them.

Austria is where Red Bull practice and take test runs on to their own home track for the off-season.
Last season Max was in a sea of orange smoke and I can't see it being any different this time around.
Just question is how far behind will Perez be from him in the front row at the start of the race?

Maybe it'll rain this time in Austria.
So far, we haven't seen any rain in Austria as I can remember, which is quite surprising, considering rain is pretty common in the Alps, where Spielberg is located. Similar like Belgium, rain can come up in a very short time and if rain is coming up, it'll be heavy.
Might be an interesting race, especially the last corner and the corners after 1st (uphill) and 2nd (downhill) long straight. Personally, I'll hope for rain.

So, maybe we won't see any orange smoke due to rain.
We might know later.

It is nice to have you here as well. 

When it comes to the Austria GP it is surely likely to see orange smoke everywhere among Verstappen fans.    He loves this atmosphere a lot as well and does his best to take the win in the race as well. But the previous race didn't end up in favour of him you know. He was great in qualifying and sprint sessions both by finishing as the leader. However in the race the winner was Leclerc. There was already a great competition between them before the race too. It was Ferrari's better times. 

However now Verstappen is a solid favourite to take that win by a satisfying level of dominance. Alonso and Hamilton seem the second strongest drivers lately but their job is very difficult against Verstappen as usual.

I got the golden spoon but I'm okay with it because I had random picks for Canada but nothing really worked for me. I might keep doing random picks simply because I'm so boring of RedBull and Max dominating that I simply don't enjoy watching the race any longer. What is appeal to F1 right ? No spectacle , no crashes , no real competition , no rivalries ...nothing. It's like we are watching the same season on repeat for 3 years already.
