^  Did you watch it?  I missed it...  :/  And just by looking at the result and the comments, there was rain and a red flag due to Perez and Sainz crashing.  The drivers prolly didn't get as much lap time on the track that's why the results were skewed towards whoever's at the top spots.  Verstappen, Hamilton and 5 other driver weren't even able to set at time.

Looks like it's gonna be an interesting quali if the drivers don't get as much needed time on the track.  We could be in for some surprises.

Piastri and Norris have a good start on first practice

will think it through and put some for the top6 on Piastri, still good odds and looking interesting
Norris for podium seems riskier

My bet is on Piastri in this weekend and I will place 2 bets on him. One with him finishing top 6 as the odds are around 3 and another one with him on the podium on a total odds of ~6 which is amazing. Also , I'm sure on the long run that Piastri will prove he is way better than Norris and the only one who could beat Max on a fair car fight.

Mcleare with the latest improvements seems to be the second car in the track after the RBR in every condition.
RBR at the moment is not so fast but they are maybe hiding themself.

It will be interesting tomorrow to see if they can compete, also anything can happen with the new format.

I put now my picks, but i want to change it after free practice 3 if i wake up early to see it. We have so much noise between second position and eight position, we have the 2 ferraris the two Mercedes the Aston Martin of Alonso and now the two Mcclaren battiling for the sames spots on the grid, plus Checo perez.

So many cars/drivers in the same level.

A new front wing and sidepod are going to be used by Red Bull as of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The expectation is to gain more than 0.2 seconds.

Red Bull have already been unstoppable and they continue to get even faster. Besides the version of them which we have watched so far is even with a limited budget due to the punishment they got. Their potential is way bigger than now which means we won't even be able to dream them losing.

Besides it feels like this won't change until 2026 season. But as of that season we are likely to see big changes in F1 cars so the balances can change quite much as well.

It is normal that Redbull have found for this age the perfect balance,just like Mercedes had it perfect in the era before from 2014 to 2020.In 2026 a new manufacturer will produce a better car than the others,it can be anyone,Redbull,Mercedes,Ferrari,McLaren or even two newcomers who have promised to be racing with us in 2026 and they are a super well known brand who is dominating world markets like Audi with their premium cars and KIA which is also dominating but based on price and not much in performance,nevertheless it would be nice to have two newcomers in the new era.

I'm wondering how good Audi will be to be honest. It is a really huge brand in the world and we can see its name in some other motorsports as well. But Formula 1 is a completely different field in motorsports. It isn't easy for any giant brand to become one of the bests in the sport in a short time. Audi will need to allocate a significant level of budget for the quality of its car and the whole crew both.


By the way we have seen some rain in Free Practice. This helped us see different names reaching top places in these sessions. We watched fast laps in FP2 but Verstappen was quite slow against many of his opponents. Leclerc became the fastest of the day and his time was quite near the one Russell took the pole position with last season.

Perez was alarming again with that crash as well. I hope he can concentrate on his work more in qualifying.

agree, but there is one car/driver that is far above all the others
and that makes looking at competition less interesting, because winner is already known before anything starts

but, cheering for Piastri and Norris this weekend, would like to see them up this weekend, even one of them on podium, Norris looking at you

I saw that the odds of 4.00 were given to Perez to finish the qualifying in top 3 when I checked the odds on Sportsbet.io. I know that he is very bad in the recent times however I think these odds are very good for a person who has the best car. I'm thinking of betting on it if I can manage to allocate some money for it until the qualifying. There is less than an hour left for the qualifying. Don't forget to make predictions for EBP.

Hopefully you did not bet on the most mediocre driver on the grid,driving the best car as you say and screwing up race after race.Now I am thinking that he needs to be replaced as soon as possible from Redbull as that guy is not giving anything to the team so far during this year except those occasional wins he made.

I never thought Hamilton to be on pole here but wonderful performance and as I said the drivers skills are emphasized much more than in other tracks here,it is a slow track where the most skillful driver makes a difference.Norris and Piastri again with great performances and I think we did not see that Redbull over 0.2 seconds from their upgrade difference per lap,most likely the track did not let them but it is going to be a great race.

So much time without seeing this good level on qualyfication, i mean, we have like 3/4 drivers fighting for pole, long time without seeing that.

McClaren confirm his step ahead, and more surprised by Alfa Romeo, from where they took that times?, i think they put the perfect set up on the car for this track.

It always happens when the track is short, short tracks are great for getting cars closer in timers.
Alfa Romeo was the surprise of the day indeed.

Not clear yet why they were so fast, maybe they got an upgrade on their car.

This is only what they need, do you remember Mclaren at the start of the season? they were the slowest car in F1, not they are the second car.

Hamilton really had a great lap and tomorrow, Verstappen will have to fight for a win after a long time instead of just cruising in front of everyone.
Mercedes is known for a strong race performance because usually, Mercedes has gained places in most races overally, like in Spain, Miami or Silverstone.
So, overtaking won't be easy for Verstappen in case Hamilton will stay ahead after start.
And I wouldn't write off McLaren as well. Norris and Piastri in P3 and P4 directly behind Hamilton and Verstappen will definitely have a chance to take advantage of any mistakes of Verstappen and Hamilton in front.
We know already from Silverstone, how fast McLaren can be after updates.

Clear losers of today are Aston Martin and Ferrari. Once again a poor performance with only 1 car in the top 10 for each team...

This track is as I have said one of the tracks which emphasize the driving skills the most than any other track in F1.Of course there are other technical tracks like the SPA and a couple of others but in here it is a very slow track which makes the drivers skill come out first and Hamilton despite not having so good seasons during the last two he is still 7 times World Champion and he still got his driving skills as this pole shows.I am surprised at Alonso which is another very talented driver yet he could not manage to do that well,maybe it is because of the car but nevertheless he should have done better.

McLaren I am happy that they are doing so good,we need some competition to Redbull and so far looks like only them can upgrade their car further to try and win a couple of races during this season.

@1miau  Even though Verstappen is most likely to win this race anyway at least it was nice to see a competitive qualifying session.    It looks like the new tyre format in qualifying didn't affect Verstappen's performance in a good way for now. But maybe it has something to do with the new changes in the car as well. Red Bull were expected to gain more speed actually but we will see it more clearly in the race.

Alfa Romeo were the biggest surprise of the day by the way. Not only both drivers were in Q3 but also Zhou got the 5th place amazingly.

This promises for a great race then.Shame it is not rainy weather in Hungary today,nevertheless I will be happy to see this race despite me having put some really strange positions in the pool and so far only having the 2 EBP points as I had Verstappen yesterday on pole although I wanted heavily to have Norris on pole but I did not have the guts to do so.

I think that McLaren is also in the fight to win the race here if Hamilton will act as a blocker to Verstappen pace and if Hamilton goes out first in the first corner the race then will become extra beautiful to watch so I pray that Hamilton goes out first from the first corner and we see a first part of the race wonderful.

This race might be the best so far as top 4 is stacked with talent and to be honest , all of them have their chance to win the race today. Sure , Hamilton will try everything he can to hold Max back and expose him to both McLarens but Max is well known for having almost perfect starts and if that happens , I think he will end up on P1 after first apex.

I am quite confident that Hamilton will have an advantage until the first corner because he starts from what F1 fans call it the "clean" part of the track and as such when starting will have a little advantage besides his skills.For the sake of a good race I also hope Max to not come out full power since the first turn as Schumi said,races are not won on the first turn so most likely we will see an intense battle today and even if Max makes it first out of the first corner it is up to Hamilton to follow him close enough in a track where this is much possible so we can hope for some change of positions when they change tires.

Ended up being a good race for me, asides of Max Verstappen dominance and we know he is gonna win, it was a really good fight in all the points position.

This race have a "romantic" thing, Red Bull breaks Mc Claren record, and sudenly MCclaren was the car who oppose them to break that record when few weeks ago this was impossible to think.
