I have heard about Bitcoin back in 2017 but never got to learn regarding about it. I always thought that crypto was a fluke and that it would definitely not be a type of transaction until pandemic happens. So, as the title would suggest, is it too late to start investing on crypto? And if not, what would be the essentials to learn on working on it?

Just first know that it is not late to start. Did you know that less than 10% of the people in the world have yet invested in crypto, not even yet close to 10%. Also even if the adoption has been so much, the adoption will still continue.

To start, learn about bitcoin, learn about bitcoin halving and how it is having effect on crypto prices. To not make things complicated for you, you can start with reading bitcoin for beginners, like this ones:

For news, you can check Cointelegraph or Coindesk for it. There are many other news sites. You can browser about it.
For price app, you can go for Coingecko which is better, or go for Coinmarketcap, but I will not recommend the later because Binance owned it. I will not recommend what is more centralized that Binance can manipulate for the progress of their exchange, Binance.

You should try and check the price of coins after bitcoin halves, first and second year after of bullish trend, which will follow third year of bearish trend, and fourth year of bullish and bearish trend.

Invest in bitcoin. But altcoins are more volatile and if they have fallen so much, you can gamble with good ones among them, going for the ones with high marketcap. But know that altcoins are not decentralized like bitcoin and their can be more manipulations.

It is never too late to invest in something that should be around for the next 100+ years. Bitcoin is the only thing that can challenge the fiat currencies and it should increase in value the more people who use it the more it will be worth. I think you should try dollar cost averaging out. Search online [1] for a explanation and it should give you a tutorial on how to do it. If you do dca instead of investing a big amount you should be safer when Bitcoin goes down which it does often. It is easy to think that Bitcoin will fail when the price goes down but if you have faith and wait until it starts recovering again you should see good profits.

There are two types of Crypto Currency. Bitcoin and Shitcoins. If you want to invest in shitcoins, do your research before you invest.

If you want to invest in Bitcoin, It's not late yet. Don't invest all in at once. Bitcoin is not for short-term investors. It's volatile. You will get some smart profit in long term, but you have to hold tight. As I said, don't invest all in at once. Follow DCA (Dollar cost average) method. If the Bitcoin price goes up, buy less, if it goes down, buy more. Keep doing it as long as you want. Never sell at a loss.

You came to know about bitcoin in 2017, but consider my case where I knew about bitcoin well around 2014 but I never started right in that year. Nah, it's not like the Bitcoin is down or something it's just that it's never too late to start or to start again. Remember that a 1 BTC is a 1 BTC it doesn't matter but what matters is the equivalent value of it in fiat. Everyone can invest in Bitcoin as long as they understand the concept of how it works and etc or else they will lost their investment. Bitcoin isn't design as a quick way to get rich it's not like that, Bitcoin is for long term investment. I also invested after the bullish season last 2017 and got a good profit last bull run so I could conclude that it's never too late for everyone to invest in crypto. You only have to learn how to deal with the risks and know how the market works. Cryptocurrency investment is open for everyone but you also need to do lots of research first so you'll know what to invest in and when is the right time to buy. It's not too late because if you know how to deal with the volatility of the market, you will take it as an opportunity to earn.

The best way to start is today but it doesn't mean that you will immediately buy a specific cryptocurrency without a foundation and enough knowledge. The truth is, the opportunities in the market is infinite, which means that you can earn anytime as long as you have knowledge, skills and good risk management. There are a lot of new investors who immediately putting their money with a "HOPE" that it will give them huge returns without fully accepting the risks where there is a financial and emotional disaster whenever they lose.

I don't think the word "late" is applicable in investing in general unless you are a senior already then it's a different story.

I mean you can start anytime you want. You knew Bitcoin in 2017, but have doubts in it right? It's ok because it isn't only you who thought like that 6 years ago. What's important now is that you started investing into crypto. What's bad is to not try investing at all. You're not late to start in investing into crypto.

As for the things or sites you need if you want to learn, there are many websites online and many already shared some of them as well, so just browse on it and start learning. Learning takes time so be patient to learn.

As others have said, it is definitely not too late. The only problem I see with your thread is that you have placed it in Trading Discussion, and it is much better to invest in bitcoin than to trade it.

Trading is buying and selling trying to guess whether the price will go up or down and it is a much touted system but one that over 95% of people lose money on.

Investing, on the other hand, is based on a thorough knowledge of the asset you are buying and basing your purchase on the fact that its characteristics are such that it will have a prosperous long-term future.

It is better to go for this second option, as you seem to point out, it is much safer and with less risk.

It's never too late to learn anything under the sun unless you aren't breathing any longer then it's now late. We're still very early in the market as it hasn't matured yet and you see this from the level of fuds and fomo the markets still generate from the smallest negative or positive news that hits the market. Bitcoin hasn't hit the $100k yet which to me that'll be the start of it been expensive.

At the current price many can still buy a whole Bitcoin but when it hits $100k then that number of people that can afford a whole Bitcoin will be reduced since there are many people not making up to $100k a year and they still have to take care of other needs as the days goes by. It isn't a most to own one whole Bitcoin but it should be the minimum since you're in at the early stage.

What I would suggest is that you try to search over the forum or try to search in Google, which will give you the gist of it and allow you to understand more about bitcoin. Also, for sure, people will always say that it is not too late to start as long as you have money to buy it, even if the price is high, but again, make sure you know the risk and are not blinded by the profit that you are seeing in a few years.

No you're not late, those people who invest in the bull run is the one who is late I guess. Right now the price is somewhat at discount again from 25k$ to 21k$. As long as you know the risk to invest in crypto and you already know the basic then you're set to go, don't ever get FOMO or FUD from other people it can ruin your investment strategy.

Little that they knew that bitcoin is not even adopted by almost all countries around the world as a legal tender. Bitcoin's 4-year cycle is about to be reached and we all know that it always broke the ATH during the cycle. I thought the advice should be pretty specific since the OP seems to like bitcoin over altcoin. I'm not advice the OP consider multiple altcoin for one reason, certainly because their use case as currency is too low compared to bitcoin. So it's definitely never too late to invest in bitcoins, in fact they have to be capable enough considering the current market conditions to buy bitcoin.

Some altcoin of choice might be good if the OP wants to diversify his assets, not just bitcoin, but avoid the hype-filled and pump-and-dump altcoin. It was a advice, but he had to do some analysis to determine which one was the best to choose.

It is never too late. Crypto is still in its baby shoes. But since you are new I would highly recommend you research wallet security and how blockchains work. Also, I would recommend you do not invest in any crypto under the top 10 (by market volume) . for example on coinmarketcap. No time is too late to invest in Bitcoin especially not this period and we are currently in the bear market which means that it is actually the best time to buy and hold more of your digital assets (cryptocurrency).
I will be advice that before you dive or jump into investing in in any coin, you should make sure to do your own ret(DYOR) as nothing is guaranteed in crypto and no one is expected to be held responsible for any actions you take.

No of course it's not too late to start investing in crypto currencies. Every day brings new opportunities that we can profit of. The only point where it would make no sense to start trading cryptos would be if all countries in the world ban cryptos and we couldn't exchange them anymore. Which is very unrealistic, even is some countries ban the use of cryptos there will always be other countries that encourage it. My advice to you is to not think too much and wait to long again before making the first step. You should definitely learn about cryptos, but you can do this while already owning some. Buying bitcoins would be a great first step and when owning some coins you become more motivated to learn about the subject. Once you are familiar with bitcoins you can take a look at the alt coin market and learn a lot about all the projects. Just because we don't know something doesn't mean we should be staying away from it.

I won't mention the next bull season, but if OP has a long-term vision for the next 5 to 10 years and wants to make bigger profits than investments like gold and stocks, then bitcoin is still a much better choice. People was asking same question when btc was under 1k. If you are ready to take small risk then price doesn't matter. I don't think it's too late to enter in crypto now but i will suggest to learn crypto before entering. If you don't start right away you will keep running late and you will be abandoned by other users. 2017 when you know about crypto you should have started to think that crypto continues to grow especially bitcoin. Take a look at bitcoin's journey from 2017, you must already know that price fluctuations and increases in bitcoin prices are extraordinary.

BTC is currently valued at 1 third of its all time high. You have to admit that it was a bumpy road. To some people it is not a given that BTC will be a success in the future.

Then what still makes you doubt?
If you don't start now, then when?

Central banks will launch their CBDC's soon. Which is digital monetary slavery and total control over our belongings. The power to switch off our means of payment whenever they want. BTC is the ultimate threat to CBDC's. They have no control over it and they hate it. It is a threat to their hegemony and therefore I expect an all out war on bitcoin.
For example 3 days ago I transfered 5000 euros to an exchange, as a first deposit to get into crypto. I had informed my bank that this would happen as part of an investment (no details given of course) and that it was normal.

24 hours later there was a notification on the exchange. Your payment has been declined by your bank. Please contact them..
So I contacted my bank by email. Neither the local office, nor the main office claims to know why it was declined. But it was declined by "banking group", some organization at the top. They must know that my payment was intended for an exchange.

Even with only 1 million people worldwide owning 1 BTC or more, banks are already working hard to prevent fiat money flowing to BTC.
Can you imagine what happens when the inflation spikes higher? They know that people seek for a hedge against the inflation, and this poses a systemic risk for the stability of their monetary system. Money flowing out of the system is deadly for banks.

I don't know to what extent banks will be able to prevent money from flowing into BTC.
But as part of the fight I expect all governments in Europe to develop serious penalties for holders of BTC who did not declare their holdings to the authorities.

That kind of stuff is why most people and most institutions are still not involved in BTC.
Gandhi has a famous quote. First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. And then you win.

BTC has been ignored and laughed at. Now more people are aware of it, and wish to get away from fiat, the fight has only just begun.
And I am not 100% certain about who will win. I guess a lot depends on where you live and what the local law says.
I wonder to what extent BTC will be a store of value when your judicial system gives you a prison sentence for owning it. This is not reality at this point, but it would not surprise me.

Since the crypto market is big enough to accumulate all our holding so with this I don't think there is anything like too late to invest. Since there are new project that are enteri6the crypto market everyday, we have vast choice to make and go for the right coin we are looking for if we are interested in holding them.

Even if to talk to experienced traders on this forum we can find out that it can be fun only if you will find a correct personal rhythm, otherwise a burnout is what awaits for majority of traders earlier or later. Trading is not something easy peasy, it takes time to learn and requires experience to stay in profession.

I would say that investing in altcoins in current market condition is not a good move because the altcoins can drop further in value if the market doesn't recovers fully. I even think that altcoins will see more than 50% dump if Bitcoin dumps once again, and there is little to no chance of their recovery in coming weeks after the dump. In such times one should be more cautious when investing money on altcoins. The only altcoin that could be profitable in current market is going to be Litecoin, but still invest in it at your own risk.

On the other hand, I think it's the best time of the year to invest in Bitcoin because even after so much pressure on the crypto market and the exchanges, the Bitcoin's price is stable at around $25k, and anyone who buys it at $26k or less, will have quite good returns during the next bull run. The Bitcoin is the king of the crypto-currencies and it will cross the range of $120k in the coming bull run, so anyone who's into Bitcoin will have good returns within a year or two.

If you are planning on holding for long term then it wont really be that necessary for you to wait up for low price but if you are really that keen on doing so and does really want to maximize profitability then you can do it
