People who are financially weak are sometimes looked down upon by others. So they even find it difficult to establish connections with rich people. it is a sad fact about them. and it is not easy for them to change their life. You would really be remain on being poor if you arent really that serious on making your life or living way more better. If you are just contented on what you do currently have then you wouldnt really be making yourself that persevere which it is really that not a good behavior to have as an individual. We are all hoping for a better life but due to wrong perceptions and having no dedication then it wont really change a thing.

I assume that you are of the opinion based on tiered levels of poverty, where poverty is determined based on welfare levels and sets different poverty thresholds depending on a particular place or region, if you live in a developed country with an income of $5k/month you are still categorized as poor because the majority have higher income even though the amount of income can cover all basic needs and secondary needs, we often hear the term "there is still sky above the sky" where the comparison is always determined in the vertical direction where the higher the income the higher the welfare will be categorized.

It’s absurd to think or assume that people who are poor lack the desire to become rich or improve their conditions (because why would anyone prefer poverty?). Poverty is a complex problem with several underlying factors. You should be quite aware that people who stay poor are bounded by limitations such as good education, social networks (connections in high places), socioeconomic inequalities, discrimination, uneven distribution of resources, etc. which hinders individuals’ ability to acquire necessary knowledge and skills to chase life-changing opportunities even if they have the motivation and aspire to do so.
Please I urge you approach issue of poverty with empathy and understanding.
It is true that certain individuals lack the drive to pursue riches but it will be unfair to generalize it to everyone living in poverty.

Like people in poor countries have a choice. How can you ask it living in a country with countless opportunities to get rich or at least live a decent life even if you work in a Macdonald's (considering you live in the US)?

Read this book if you want to know more: Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty (2011), but basically when you don't have a good economy and government in your country, you just getting in a 'poor' trap and don't really have a choice but to work on a low wage job (considering you will even find a job because in a lot of countries like South Africa unemployment is around 50%).

And I'm not even talking about good education because people in poor countries simply start working from a young age and miss school (if they even have one) just to earn enough money for food. Interesting fact, when a child works on a physically hard job from a young age, his brain and body tend to get worse because he is still underdeveloped. Add lacking of food and sleep as well and you will get a perfect picture of why these people are poor.

Poverty is not a choice, it's how life works for these people.
