It's not a waste of time, if you've built solid referrals then you'll be glad to say that finally you did because that's passive income for you. But to get those solid, loyal, and real bettors, there should be a way for you to retain and attract them to sign under your link.
It could be that you did something to help them out and they're glad to sign and be one of your referrals. Usually, those that are getting good referrals, they're the ones who create articles and those that know them personally. It's a waste of time if you don't like it and you've got no patience for it but when you have those networks, it's for sure that you'll never regret starting one. I've done this in the past but not with anything related to crypto, remember that e-commerce websites have this as well and it's really a rewarding task when you exert effort on it.

You're right, gamblers and influencers have different tasks and gamblers don't focus on referral programs, gamblers tend to only use referral programs for their friends and don't share in promotions within certain communities. So if you want to get additional income from the referral program, then you must have a community or group that you manage so that your followers will trust your recommendations for the list of referral links that you have shared.

Maybe, but it could depend on the casino that you are promoting and maybe it's really on your account and it's credentials. Of course, you can bring any players, but perhaps the casino's are going to look whether the players that you are bringing to their platform are legit or not and it might take sometime for you to be paid. One thing I've learned though when I try to be an affiliate or use referral, is that you have to be a certain authority on the project that you want to promote, so what I'm saying that you have to established your name first and then have a circle of your own. So not going to be easy and it's not for everyone.

^Definitely right, referral programs can be a great way for influencers and marketers to earn extra income by promoting products or services to their audience. But I think we should first consider the TOS set by the program and avoid cheating, as this could result in losing your earnings and possibly being banned from the program altogether. For me as a gambler, while it's not necessarily a bad thing to share referral links and earn extra income, remember that gambling should be done responsibly and not solely as a means of earning referral bonuses and to keep a healthy balance and not let the referral program overshadow the actual gambling activity.

As a simple and normal gambler, you may think of referral maybe a few times but then when you're about to think on what strategy and how you'll do it just to get more affiliates then you'll feel exhausted and will stop from it. You have just been overwhelmed with the potential profit but the actual application of it is hard.

I don't think that referral bonuses are waste of time.  In my experience, it isn't hard to claim the referral bonuses that is if the casino is reputable.  It will only become a waste if you are referring to scam and cheating casinos.  If referral bonus is a waste, why there are lots of review sites that is earning from referrals?  They should have stop referring people if it is a waste.

I think @OP's experience is from a scam casino that is why in his experience, he thinks that referral bonus is a waste of time.

It depends on your own ability to refer. Most people will be on the lower side of the curve unless they have some real influence and will get not much from refering, but some good influencer will actually get strong benefis from referrals. It is more about choosing the right program and about your own ability to get it to work for you as well as for the site.

that is true, if you have good number of followers that are also pretty much into gambling, then, high likely that you can get something out of it. but if not, why would you expect something significant amount you will be getting? i have read in this forum that some really do earn from their referrals. so for some, just a waste but for some, they can get good passive income from this feature.

I used to upload videos of gambling site game’s strategies back at 2016 and 2017. At that time, I used to also get 2000 to 3000 views per video. I remembered, I referred people luckygames.io (now closed) and many people joined through my referral link. I got like 150+ referrals in that site. I still remember that from that site, I did a referral bonus withdrawal of 0.075+ BTC at that time. So coming back to the topic. Referral bonuses aren’t waste of time. You just need to have big players under your referral thing, or atleast 40-50 normal gambler under you, then you can get good commissions from them.

I’ve received referral payments from Stake. I’m assuming by referral payments you mean when someone signs up to the site using a link like the one in my signature and then gambles on the casino… If so, then yes, I have received referral payments from Stake and it was a very simple and automated process. Everything is also well documented.

From your view, it might be a waste of time but for others, it's one of the best ways to earn money as they know how to bring new players into the gambling world.

When I was still in another signature campaign that allowed referral links I remember cashing out referral money a few times (around $20-$50) similar to the campaign pay rates but unfortunately their signature campaign didn't last long so that's where my referral bonus ends as well. Reference profits can be incredibly profitable. I know something about this. I once set up a code on a gambling site that was widely known, and it was used by new users for the first few weeks. The profits I've made from it are in the hundreds of dollars. Yes, it's not worth (in my opinion) to pursue individual referral profits without a base of viewers, fans who would use these codes. But it's definitely worth using it by inviting/encouraging a friend to play on the site where you play yourself. After all, gambling sites count these costs on their sheets, so why not take advantage of that?

In other casino that has a referral bonus this is not a waste of time if the individuals had no choice to get a source of income.
Aside from this, I know there are others this thing can give  income as long as they follow what is needed for them to be be qualify in the bonus of referral scheme they have. Therefore it is not a waste of time I guess.
