Yes, Xabi Alonso has a lot of work to do but we can see that they are willing to sell one of their centre backs, Trevoh Chalobah, to the Italian club. You can see that although they have a few good players in their club, some players have already left the club which has reduced the quality of their squad even more, Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez were very valuable to Chelsea so I think if these players were able to play under Xabi Alonso in the upcoming season then maybe Chelsea would have become unstoppable in the upcoming season but it seems that those players are now joining other clubs, so this manager will have to take the responsibility of building a good team in the upcoming season.

Marc cucurella moving to real madrid doesn't seems like a big deal to most Chelsea fans because it's normal for players to come and go. What most of them are angry about is for him to be tapping up Enzo Fernandez publicly with the way he is doing, that's purely disrespectful to Chelsea, but one good thing is that his absence or the absence of Enzo Fernandez wouldn't be felt if he is eventually sold to real madrid because players comes and go, and the club still remains where they are competing for major honours, as long as they are replaced with another quality player.

I agree with you that real madrid are a level above the rest of other teams in prestige, and players will hardly say no to them, but the other teams you made mentioned cannot pull the same weight like real madrid, and it may surprise you to know that the players of these teams also sees moving to real madrid as a dream move.

So in essence of what am trying to say is that, it's true that players will always choose real madrid over Chelsea, if it's between Chelsea and real madrid, but the rest of other teams can't bully Chelsea in the transfer market like real madrid can do.
 We have seen in the past how most players will prefer to going to Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG over Manchester United, Barcelona or Bayern munich that has an incredible history, so it's best to say that it's only real madrid that can bully these teams, because Manchester United, Barcelona or Bayern munich players are also a prey to real madrid.

Losing Cucurella is not a good start for Xabi Alonso. Their LB options aren't great now. There is Hato who is still very young. He can't be trusted in the starting lineup most of the time.

Only few players reject teams like Real Madrid when they call, that's why Cucurela could hesitate but went there immediately he was called, another reason could be that he didn't trust how successful Xabi Alonso would be since it's his first time coaching in the league, if Chelsea gets worst or didn't succeed under Xabi Alonso in future, then Cucurela dodged a bullet.

You're right about the title race being tougher for Chelsea, they'll be rebuilding and it comes with so much pressure on a coach who would try to make sure his team wins consistently, Alonso has dome that before but there's still doubt if he can do same in the premier league. Real Madrid would also be rebuilding but they'll be in better position to win a trophy than Chelsea, those could be what made Cucurela chose them over Chelsea.

Like Cucurrella himself said it’s actually a hard decision to turn down a club like Real Madrid, even if Real Madrid goes like three years trophyless I think they will most definitely attract players most especially from a club like Chelsea. Let’s not even place this movement at probably Cucurrella is looking at the monetary side of it but let’s relate it to the Chelsea team itself. This team hasn’t looked like they are actually going to be developing to challenge for any thing tangible in a year future with the type of decisions that the board is making.

Even before the interest of Real Madrid on Cucurrella it was already round the news that the player wanted out and was looking to actually try other challenges and the preferred destination was definitely back home to Spain, Barcelona was his preferred choice but they are a team in financial crisp so for him to squander that opportunity of Real Madrid approach it will be really difficult most especially without assurance from Barcelona of signing him. Let not mention Barcelona, Bayern Munich and other clubs, Real Madrid alone is the greatest club of all time that every player dreams to play for, no any player that Real Madrid will want to sign and will not say yes to the club because that is where every player from thief childhood wants to go to, we have seen how players always dream of playing for Real Madrid, some players make sure they did not sign another contract just to go to Real Madrid and play for them.

Cucurella is a Barcelona academy and he said that he always want to play for Madrid because everyone knows that playing for the club is a blessing and a privilege for them, i won’t blame Cucurella because Enzo also want to play for Real Madrid and as we speak he can do anything to go to the club this summer, in case no one knows about Rodri that play for Manchester City, he doesn’t want to sign a new contract because he wants to play for Real Madrid and if he end up signing for Real Madrid at the end of next season when his contract expires we should not be surprise.
