I think it is for the reason that whenever you are already gambling, sometimes your mind doesn't have the time to think about calculations and analysis due to some games having timers to pressure gamblers, plus once you are gambling sometimes emotions start to kick in as they would affect every decision you make in gambling when you starting to lose or win.
