What team are you rooting for? Are you supporting Germany?

I was rooting for Germany but some members made a decent argument that Serbia has a high chance if they could lock down Dennis. We know they're one of the best defensive teams in this tournament.

Germany is composed of good 3-point shooters. If Serbia wants to lock down Schröder, that means they will focus their defense on him, probably putting two defenders on him. However, the risk is that it will open up opportunities for the shooters, who won't hesitate to take their shots. There has been a slight odds movement, and I believe the reason is that bettors are slightly shifting toward Germany. If I recall correctly, when the line opened, Serbia was the slight favorite, but now it's in favor of Germany.

Still, it's hard to predict because both teams have equal skills. It's now about how well their coaches can devise a game plan and make adjustments during the game. These four-quarter games should never be boring; one team might have a big run, but I'm sure the other will come back.

This is going to be interesting, just a few minutes to go before the Finals clash between Germany and Serbia. In my sports bookies, the line changed again in just a matter of minutes before the game commences and Serbia is now the favorite.

It seems to me that the crowd is divided here as some are saying that Serbia got an upper hand because even if most of their players aren't from NBA, they can't still be underestimated as they managed to get in this position and being a defensive team is not easy to oppose. But I'd say, Germany is the same too, if they focus too much on Dennis, it will be their loss because the other players in the same roster cannot be left unguarded.

So far, it's a close game. The first half has ended with a tied score of 47 all. It has been proven that Dennis cannot be stopped; Serbia may have done a great job on him in the first quarter, but Dennis adjusted in the 2nd quarter.

As of now, both teams' NBA stars are the top performers.

Schröder has 14 points, while Bogdanović has 15 points. I'm sure there will be more adjustments in the 2nd half, but in terms of the flow of offense, I see that Germany has the better one. They limit their 3-point shooting and instead are aggressive in attacking the paint, giving them more free-throw attempts compared to Serbia. By the way, Franz Wagner is also doing great; he attacks the paint well and is tied with Dennis in terms of points.

I doubt there is a game fixing in the battle for the bronze. At the very least, it could be that some American players aren't that interested in the 3rd place and will lose the fire in them. But I am pretty sure that their coach Steve Kerr wants to win the 3rd place. This is a challenge to him and he will do everything to enlighten his team in getting a win. The same with Canada, they want this 3rd place and then come back stronger next year in the Paris Olympics with their experience.

Nah! I don't think that there is a game fixing in this kind of competition, I mean sure there are some chances but that is only doable in small leagues where they can get away without some smoke and certainly not the ones like FIBA that are watched around the world round now.

And for some latest updates, Germany has done it! They are the FIBA champions and the Gold medalist (GER 83-77 SER), it was a tough game for sure because the Serbians didn't cut them some slack but they still made it to the end.

And Germany conquered the FIBA Basketball Tournament 2023. All respect for their hard work, the greatness of their talents, and the will to win everything. Congratulations to them and to every German who makes them proud. Schroder was damn fast.

Serbia on the other hand, I saw no panic with them until the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter. That's where a lot of mistakes happened. Bogdan made a good steal and I thought that would be the one-stop that could get them so near against Germany but the play didn't go in. Then, the supposed to be 3-point play layup, that's when I saw panic in Serbia after that was the bad pass.

But all in all, I love how these guys put all their heart into the game. Those tears are the proof of that. They won't cry if this doesn't mean everything to them. I love the competitive spirit and I love how close the game is that Serbia made me think they can really win that game. They even made me cheer for them in the end.

There’s match fixing even on professional league but I doubt too that there’s a match fixing on game that they represent country while this tournament is not yearly to happened. Germany is  such so good during the crucial times specially on protecting their lead to close their game. Germany did the same against USA during the semi fnals match.

Dennis schroder is very good on this world cup. He is the most valuable player for me since he play a lot of crucial role on all their run just to maintain the lead. This is the most balance world cup I ever see though since the expected dominant team doesn't finish as predicted by many.

He deserved this; he can really be trusted. He was their best player, and he didn't fail the team in the Finals game. It's the great interior defense of Germany that made the Serbians focus their offense outside, and when the shots aren't falling, it's easy for Germany to capitalize on it. I was a bit happy with Serbia's run; they were able to trim the lead of Germany to 3 points only in the 4th quarter. But Germany did not panic; they remained composed and were really eager to bring home the trophy.

Franz Wagner was instrumental to the success of Germany.

What an epic final between Germany and Serbia. Germany ends as only team undefeated in whole tournament. In final game they showed that they have elite defence too. They stopped Bogdanovic that he wasn't even on court on decidive minutes. They let Serbia to score just 10 points in 3rd quarter. Schroder, Wagner bros, what a team. Serbia was close, but sometimes it looked that they lose head and rush too much. And how Guduric should feel now - missed open 3 pointer, then he was so close from making 2+1 and he makes turnover in another crucial attack. Feel sorry for him. Congrats to Germany, very well deserved.

What to say about 3rd place game. 3 quarters it looked like awful regular season game, but 4th quarter was awesome. Bridges moment was one of epic things in international basketball. Missed free throw, takes rebound and makes buzzer beater. But in general Canada were better and proved it overtime and it's first World Cup medal for them.

Its definitely a shocking result, I never expected Germany to be the world champion, that isn't regarding just USA, they may end up losing and that happens sometimes and that's understandable but that doesn't mean that other teams would make sense, there were many other good teams that could have won it, including Serbia. Canada also beat USA on the third place game as well, USA definitely needs to bring in much better players they have and need to convince them somehow, this isn't working for the past two tournaments.

Well, what can I say? Schroder literally deserved the award as he was a team player and not just a star player who cannot make an impact to make a positive outcome from the games they had and even up to this point, he didn't made huge mistakes to make the team suffer.

In fact, he was the one who helped the team to remain their composure because they know the Serbian's weakness and made those weaknesses as their strength. So in the end, Germany took home the gold. What a nice game to end the night, congratulations to all bettors out there who wagered with Germany.

When germany won against america, i thought of the movie The Redeem Team. It was many years ago, but USA failed in 2004 and then it got better in 2008. They won against Spain in the final, but now they didnt play the final. As a Das Redeem-Team 2 movie could be made in the future, that would be painful for many NBA fans, but if they win the next big tournament, then they are doing everything right. For germany it is the first title in history.

In the beginning of the tournament, I wasn't expecting Germany to win the world cup also but they deserved it. Including their win against USA, they were the one who always deserved to win. And rightfully they deserved the World Cup. Serbia in this game was a little bit disappointment. The 3rd quarter for both teams were a disaster, or as a fan, I was just too bored. Serbia tried to bounce back in the 4th quarter but the last 2 minutes were also a disaster for them. They played the last minutes like a team very unexpected from them. Bogdan Bogdanovic should have gotten the ball more and he could maybe turned the game. He didn't even touched the ball in the 4th quarter, almost. Congratulations to Germany.

The era of USA dominance is long over. All the countries in the world have already caught up with the USA in terms of basketball skills, especially European countries. They cannot send college players and rising stars and still expect to dominate. That time is long gone. So, if they are sending a half-ass team to the World Cup, they should be prepared to be humiliated. All other countries are sending their best players to compete. Please do not downgrade the success of the winning countries because the USA lost. They lost fair and square. It is their fault they got humiliated in the world stage.

They can't even win the Bronze; they need to carefully study what's wrong and make sure to correct it for the Olympics. They can't afford to let what happened here occur again. They used to dominate this competition, but now they are just a big hype.

I am sure after this humiliation they will form their dream team again to compete in the Olympics. I just wonder what incentives they will give to entice their superstars to play for their country in the Olympics.

I doubt there is game-fixing in this tournament. I doubt the players will want to get involved in that because it is their country's pride on the line. The officiating is done by the referees of other countries. I doubt game fixing can be done in FIBA.

Yeah, they are not the favorite and they stunned as all by winning the World Cup. Schroeder is a different beast when he is playing for Germany. He commanded the offense of Germany and did really great. He deserves the win.

SGA's game sense and his ability to make plays is really great to watch. He knows what to do inside and on the outside. It's just that Serbia is too much for them to handle. Brooks had the support, but Serbia's tight defense made it too hard for team Canada to score.

I always thought that USA will finish 2nd if not the champions. Also thought that it's a possible Slovenia vs Spain. Germany was never on my radar, but here we are. I'm not surprised that Schröder was the MVP. He played well on the last 2 games leading to the finals. Not as popping as SGA, but still enough to net him the attention of the masses and the officials as well.

And the USA can not do a thing, for sure The USA got a decent spread but it was not enough, regardless of what the Basher will have to say to him (including myself) Dillon Brooks is really something else he has shown a totally different Brooks in this game, for sure the coach has said that he just lets Brooks play this one, and for sure if his defensive pay isn't effective in him then his offense was really something and from that press conference after the game Dillon Brook was weirdly humble at all, we can see a different side of Dillon Brooks for sure,

The USA didn't play well against Canada. The third quarter is over, and Canada is leading by 9 points. We know that the USA won't give up, but they are in a precarious situation. Hopefully, they will be able to come back so I won't lose my bet on the moneyline. I'm also placing an extra bet on the USA moneyline with 3.40 odds. Good luck!

For sure it really was a bad game for the USA Canada along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks have an amazing game today have an amazing run and are for sure a better team When it comes to the USA I was really disappointed they likely weren't to win and they aren't really motivated in doing this, for sure and they just want to finish this day and leave, but for Canada for sure Dillon Brooks is really motivated in doing this for sure,

Germany was not early favorite, even in the group competition, Australia was favored over Germany.

I wish that would happen. He also deserves that too. He made a mistake on the last offer for him by declining what the Lakers is offering but now his contract should be fixed.

This FIBA tournament made a lot of basketball fans open their eyes that there are great players outside the NBA. I think that is the lesson that will be learned and this will flow to the Olympics.
@jakelyson was right, the USA's dominance in basketball is over. Soon there will be other countries who will try to get that gold medal. There are Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, Canada, and more countries (I won't mention all) who proved this year that they should not be underestimated anymore and I bet the odds of betting will also change next year.
The other bonus of this peaceful event is it gives hope to other countries that being a champion isn't out of reach anymore, they can do it too. Germany just did it and Canada was the bronze medalist for the first time, soon other countries might snatch that.

And let us all give thanks to the host countries this year. Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, despite the bad weather somehow we made it until the end. There were floods in some parts of the country and yet we did it.
