But in middle order and low order we see some change. When Mohammad Nabi was batting he looked like he was batting on a T20 pitch and when Rashid Khan was batting it was the same situation also Karim Janat and Najibullah Zadran moving in the same way. If they could have played for some time then the match could have been easily won but that was not the case. In the end they lost only 2 runs in the match with 13 overs to spare. I think they lost this match due to lack of experience. But the spectators enjoyed the match

And this was a match where they were required to score the winning runs (292) from just 37.1 overs to qualify. Everyone else managed to score at more than a run per ball (Mohammad Nabi had strike rate of 203), but by then it was too late.

If one more batsman could have batted well like Mohammad Nabi, Afghanistan could have won this match. Sri Lanka team players in this match.  Many were worried when Mohammad Nabi got out and left the field then they got their focus back on the game. If Mohammad Nabi scored a few more runs Afghanistan could have won the match. But the players of both the teams tried hard to win the match. Among them Sri Lanka team  Succeeded after many attempts to win.

LOL.. so according to you, the reason why Afghanistan lost yesterday was due to the fact that the no.10 (Mujeeb Ur Rahman) and no.11 (Fazalhaq Farooqi) batsmen couldn't score runs? What about the openers, who scored 11 runs from 22 balls? IMO, the super-slow batting from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran put them in a spot of bother early on. Don't forget that in order to qualify, they needed to chase the target from 37.1 overs (at more than 7 runs per over). The slow batting from the openers derailed their chase early on.

The first match of Asia Cup Super Four will be played today between Pakistan vs Bangladesh. Where Pakistan is the hot favorite team, they will play at their own ground. Afghanistan losing the match against Sri Lanka was a big surprise to me as well. I would say Nabi and Rashid Khan did everything that is required to get Afghanistan into the Super 4. At the end of the match, the disappointment of missing out by just 2 runs was showing on the face of Rashid Khan. Another disappointment was Mendis unable to reach his century, while other Srilankan batters were struggling against the Afghan bowling attack, he was quietly playing his part. It was indeed an exciting and close ODI match that we watched yesterday in this tournament. We all were expecting the India vs Pakistan match to deliver the same level of excitement and close ending. We couldn't due to the frustrating rain but we got the same amount of adrenaline rush yesterday.

IMO, Afghanistan waited for too long before going on with the attack. Their openers wasted a lot of overs, and only when Mohammad Nabi came to the crease they regained momentum. But he hardly got any support from the other end, and Afghanistan was losing wickets at regular intervals, although Karim Janat and Najibullah Zadran made quick runs. In the end, all the blame fell on the two tailenders (Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Fazalhaq Farooqi). IMO, first and foremost the blame should be put on Afghan management, who failed to properly communicate with the players.

This was one of the best fight from Afghanistan for the place of Super Four but sadly due to inexperienced and some poor strategy they fail to achieve this historical win and lost match and place in top four Rashid Khan on crease, and they completely lost this all which is really poor day in this game for them now in last ten ODI matches they lost eight and won only two matches against Bangladesh which is the lowest level for them hopefully now they will learn from their mistakes and try to gain confidence in coming days because with this performance most chances they will be having no place into top eight teams in world cup.

Mohammad Nabi is surely quality all-rounder and his today's performance was one of the best from this player now they need to work on batting and fast bowling as well because they are doing good in 30 overs from spinners, but other twenty overs are hurting them badly even cause of their defeats as well.

For example; We expect WK to be good with the bat, previously that wasn't the case. Similarly, Bowlers need to pick up another skill as well. No one asking them to bat like a top order but they should be capable enough to strike a ball or at least rotate a strike.

Another fine example is look at the Indian WC squad. Chahal is a fine wrist spinner in White ball cricket but he didn't make it into the squad. On the other hand, Shardul (alright bowler/golden arm) and Axar (above average) got in because they know how to bat.

Win or loss is part of the game, The main thing is how you play and how much your performance improved from previous game. Afghanistan team played very tough class game especially Muhammad nabi with the bat who gives hope to Afghanistan team that they can do it. overall performance was too good from both sides. I am not satisfied with Afghanistan bowling, they gives lot of extra runs in last three overs when Srilanka, 7 wickets was already bowled.

Now the super stage is going to start and the first game will be played in Lahore tomorrow between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan has tough class bowling and batting also improved and Bangladesh also got big victory against Afghanistan and still in good form. I am predicting that Pakistan will be win tomorrow match after tough match.

I agree with your views partially because few things are surely good but still Afghanistan needs to be better and supportive mind if they want to win matches from here now they have history of losing matches like these with they almost achieve their best and have fair enough chance to qualify for the Super Four as well but suddenly due to lack of communication and poor understanding they lost this match.

I was reading statement from the coach Jonathan Trott, and he accepts this mistake they were not well aware about run-rate, so they lost the chance of qualification and match as well Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi are well experienced players with have good time in different leagues they also need to check few things for the better results, but they were completely out of the mind which give them big shock hopefully now they will learn from their mistakes and have better results in coming games with better mind-set.

The sixth match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan of Asia Cup was extremely intense. Sri Lanka won this match by just 2 run. Afghanistan opening batsmen performance were poor with R. Gubaz scored 4 runs in 8 ball and I. Zardan scored only 7 run in 14 balls. Their performance was disappointing but the next players played pretty well. Sri Lanka bowled brilliantly as they got out the team with 289 run. It is a tough match for Afghanistan. Best of luck to Sri Lanka in the next matches.

Bangladesh won the toss, selected batting first. 1st over maiden, second over lost a wicket. They are now becoming so unpredictable. This match is between two unpredictable teams. It won't be easy to conclude which team will win the match. I am supporting Pakistan because they have two best fast bowlers and a good middle order. I am not sure whether this is an apple to apple comparison. Shardul is in the team primarily because he is a good bowler. When we compare Shardul's bowling with that of Prasidh Krishna or Arshdeep Singh, he would rank at the same level, or even higher. And then he is a much better batsmen compared to either of these two, and as a result of that gets selected as the first preference. Axar is also in the same category, when we compare him with Chahal or Washington Sundar. Afghanistan doesn't have that luxury. For them, Mujeeb is one of the backbones of spin bowling. Other options such as Qais Ahmad and Izharulhaq Naveed are either at the same level in batting, or even worse. And the same argument goes for Fazalhaq Farooqi. He is not a worse batsmen, when compared to Naveen-ul-Haq or Yamin Ahmadzai.

At the start of the match we could actually see Afghanistan playing a pretty convincing game but in the end they lost wickets and couldn't catch up with the run which was gradually taken over by Sri Lanka and when we saw Karim Janat and Najibullah Zadran there was a chance for Afghanistan to create more run but all that failed.
After half time the game Sri Lanka provided quite a surprise escape and gained maximum runs which allowed them to quickly outplay Afghanistan in today game.
