The fourteenth match of the World Cup will be played today at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow. After the first upset in this World Cup yesterday, today Australia will be taking on Srilanka. Australia is at the bottom of the points table with 2 losses. The reason is their net run rate of -1.846. Srilanka has also lost 2 matches but are ranked on the 8th position. Today's game is expected to be a close one. Betting odds confirmst Australia as the favourite to win.

I wonder how big they as in the Australian would be able to achieve with the net run rate after this match. The odds justify the Australian performance when they got the Srilnakan side all out for 209 runs, which I think is bad as a target to chase for the opponent team. I won't say Srilanka batted badly but I would say they were far below the performance of the Netherlands team. Srilanka never showed the instinct that they would try to win the match. As expected Srilanka with their current attitude won't last long as a team in the 50 0ver format. They will become obsolete like the West Indies team did when they failed to qualify.

Australia is not likely to win every one of the above matches but the matches with England, Pakistan and New Zealand will be very competitive but it is not possible to say for sure which team will win. However, because Pakistan is not able to take advantage of the Indian pitch, it is quite difficult to predict the match between Australia and Pakistan.

Adam Zampa from Australia took wickets. He is the main character in this match and that’s why he is the man of the match. He took the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kusal Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne, and Maheesh Theekshana, these are all very good batsmen but Adam Zampa didn’t give them the chance to perform.

You could add Pakistan and New Zealand as well in the list. The former might give some fight but i think the Kiwis could lose against Aussie. NZ is in hot form but they become minnows when playing against Australia, be it bilateral ODI, T-20, Test or World Cup. 

If Pakistan addresses its middle overs issues, then they will give tough fights to everyone, including Australia.

But then, South Africa is in exceptional form right now and they made a record total of 428 against Sri Lanka. Injury is also a concern for Netherlands. Their premium allrounder Logan van Beek missed last match as a result of injury. And this means that most of the burden falls on Bas de Leede. He scored 67 runs and then returned figures of 9-0-62-4 during the match against Pakistan.

Team's like SL, Aus don't seem to have passion for the world cup, in yesterday's match so many shots were left to reach the boundaries when they could have been easily been saved. Dunno if they do this because there is no crowd supporting them or what.

This WC we will see different champion than SL, AUS for sure. India is passionate as usual, aside from them I find NZ and SA to be top contenders who have thirst, plus means as well.

Well.. I had posted this a few days back. A lot of questions are still not answered. It is good news that T20 cricket has been finally included in the Olympics. But at the same time, there is a lot of confusion related to number of participants and qualification. The ICC wants a 5 or 6 team event, which may not be acceptable for the IOC. Also, the ICC doesn't want any qualification system and they just want teams to be picked based on the flawed ranking system. In the end, some sort of compromise will be worked out between ICC and IOC. But until then, there will be a lot of uncertainty.

South Africa have won the toss, and opted to bowl first. But currently it's Raining in Dharamsala, South Africa Skipper Temba Bavuma invited the Netherlands to bat first in the overcast conditions in Dharamsala, i think this is decision is good. South Africa made one chnage Gerald Coetzee comes in  and Tabraiz Shamsi is out from playing XI. Netherlands also made one chnage in playing XI Logan Van Beek comes in and Ryan Klein is out from today match against South Africa.
