In the interest of protecting our players, we've been looking into the recent rise of 3rd party 'auto promo code claimers' that are being spread in some Telegram groups.

Our team has confirmed that at least one of these programs contains malware in the form of a keylogger. If you have downloaded any of these programs, we would recommend that you stop using the infected device immediately and do a thorough malware check. We also recommend that you change any passwords that may be compromised.

Whenever you use a 3rd party software, you put your device and credentials at risk. Please be incredibly wary of what and who you interact with!

Be careful in what you install in your computers and smartphones, crypto users! Especially those people who HODL their coins in a hot wallet. The risk usually are not worth the rewards!

Plus HODL your coins in an offline cold-storage device, or buy a hardware wallet - a Trezor.

Be careful in what you install in your computers and smartphones, crypto users! Especially those people who HODL their coins in a hot wallet. The risk usually are not worth the rewards!

Plus HODL your coins in an offline cold-storage device, or buy a hardware wallet - a Trezor.
Good advice, but this is all common sense at the end of the day. Most investors usually purchase hardware wallets only when the amounts involved are big and don't bother with them if the amounts involved are small.

Paper wallets are another great alternative here. Also, investors need to be a lot more careful while using Telegram since it's infested with scammers these days.

3rd party bot created to claim bonus code become popular lately which is not that surprising because bonus codes shared in social media (X, Telegram, etc) that can be claimed by players is like a trend these days.
Many people are attracted to use the bot because they want to claim the code easily and without any worry to be late but some of them do not realize that something bad might be inserted in the bot that may steal their data and even money on their devices.
Good to see that Shuffle informed about their finding and notify their players to do the best possible thing to avoid the worst possible thing.
There are even some paid auto claimer bots out there for other casino, although they are paid bots, it is always better to avoid it.

But lots of people didn't  have that since they easily believe on what they see especially if they get that information on a legit channels. Good things they made those announcement earlier and for sure their community know what's the consequences of downloading and using those programs.

This one also indicate again that they should not use any 3rd party applications or tools to claim something since they never know what's inside of those tools provided and to be safe much better they do all of it manually and provably that they are safe from any scams and hackings around.

What's the mean of the initial announcement, is it some kind of warning message pinned on to the top?
If that's what you mean, then basically these people already know what consequences they need to consider when getting involved in the crypto industry. Something that appears legitimate can be compromised and hacked, so the community should be able to consider the consequences from the start.

That's why all users are advised to store their crypto assets in a secure wallet offline. They should not mix up using the same device for work and storing their assets, so purchasing a hardware wallet or other wallet that is declared safe is a priority they should consider.

Pin it on top of the landing page can be annoying with many users but I agree with some newbies. Why only some newbies, because many newbies will not read it like they don't read Terms of Services, Guidelines for users.

I have another idea. The team can write a short guide article on this security issue, and add it to their blog page that can be categorized to different topics like Security and others.

They simply don't have enough knowledge to differentiate between good and bad wallets because they have never been taught or exposed to such education resources on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency wallets. Some were educated but they ignored good advice and decided to prioritize convenience with online wallets from online platforms, centralized exchanges rather than secure their assets in non custodial wallets by themselves.

Hardware wallets are good but must note that good hardware wallets must be open source.

For those lazy people or for those who can't remember their passwords, they can just use a password manager. They merely need to remember one password to decrypt their password list, then copy/paste the password they need. Password managers generate strong passwords that will take centuries to brute-force. - That's more years than a hacker's life time.

Although, with a password manager, never store it in your computer or any device that's always connected to the internet. Store it in a USB and/or an offline device.

Do only me think that for lazy people who can't remember their passwords with their brains and memory, they will have problems to remember a password to unlock their password manager file. It's very possible that they will get that issue.

In addition, I think that with these people, they probably have another issue, with their carelessness is possible at very low level. In other words, they are very careless and don't care to note down their passwords. It means they will not jot down their password used for password manager software.

 👀

That's probably OK if you use it as a hot-wallet containing small amounts of Bitcoins, but try HODLing your whole life-savings in there, only the insane and the fools would be the sort of people who could sleep during the night.

That probably could be a path for normies which they can use to gain entry in crypto.

Does anyone have good experience with SHUFFLE?

I just registered today, playing with a small balance. A new account is required to fill in "Level 1" verification, don't like these at the beginning. Anyway, playing a little original blackjack on SHUFFLE. It seems like the dealer still deals cards even the player bust. Quite interesting, just my two cents: Perhaps, for the SHUFFLE team remove "Level 1" verification for new members. If they want to do these, at least do so with a commitment to Level 2. The reason is that Level 1 it's data is needed for Level 2 and filling the "Level 1" data while the user is not doing any verification for "Level 2" is not quite comfortable.

Some players could be not quite interested in verifying but want to play on "SHUFFLE", another things "Level 1" can be edited/update in setting actually user can just put random data at the first time they register. Make it, Level 1 after register not quite useful from my perspective.

Good can be interpreted in some ways, my experience is good enough although I do not play much as well as I do not win much but I think I'm in profit especially due to the SHFL airdrop.
No significant issue I get so far, starting from deposit to withdraw, all were good.

-snip-

Yes KYC level 1 is required but I dont think it is a big issue, the possibility to update/edit is even better (at least for me) because some players may do typo when they fill thier personal information so there is a chance for them to edit it when it comes to KYC level 2.
I wont be hypocrite because I did not like KYC in the past, but I can understand that KYC is now becoming more common due to license and regulation.

Because, shuffle (i think) is obligated by law to obtain at least a name, address and date of birth. I agree that they might as well could verify the information, but that's probably not required on casual players that withdraw smaller amounts, and it's costly and slow for casinos manually verifying everyone. Especially when competitios isn't doing that either and when new growing casino is trying to get in more players fast.

And yeah, i had good experience with shfl. There were more glitches year ago that got fixed fast, but i haven't seen anything that annoys me for a while.

Sports betting could have wider selection and live streaming / live stats option, like in stake, and there should be more slots, but those are my only complaints.

I saw it on some small centralized exchanges too. They can simply let new users register and use their platforms but they require KYC level 1 with nationality and a full name. You know, this requirement is easy and a new user can submit fake information. Of course this practice is risky for user, because later if they have problems with accounts or want to upgrade to a higher KYC level like Level 2, they will have issues with the exchanges.

I guess that these exchanges do that simple KYC level, to avoid problems with governments, but not sure about Shuffle team's perspective on this policy.

-snip-
I also don't like it, perhaps maybe some change

No need to ask to fill "Level 1" due we are not doing any verification "Level 2". Since, I'm not doing any verification, after filling the form but with my real data. I change again edited with random data.

-snip-
Since, the data can be changed.

Asking Level 1 after registering are not quite appropriate, unless we are being forced from the casino who follow the regulation for every new user need "Level 2" before they can play and deposit. Then, I'm fine with those.

An advice for using password manager softwares that barely educated is "Don't store your Bitcoin or cryptocurrency wallet seed phrase or private key in password manager".

 👀

That's probably OK if you use it as a hot-wallet containing small amounts of Bitcoins, but try HODLing your whole life-savings in there, only the insane and the fools would be the sort of people who could sleep during the night.

An X post from Shuffle,

Quote

You can now buy SHFL directly with a credit card on Shuffle.

That probably could be a path for normies which they can use to gain entry in crypto.

Would you say for example exodus wallet with saved phrase code is good enough, lets say i want to hold there 100k in eth.

i don't see an easy way for me to lose access or get scammed unless i am stupid, and allergic to money
Just use the wallet to send to crypto and receive not connecing it to any 3rd party site or app

I guess only way for me to lose that money is by someone guessing my phone pincode and app exodus seperate pincod and having malware on my phone?

Read my post again, if you're too lazy to read the answer is - NO.

I believe some libraries in Exodus are not open source. That's a major red flag if you're a cryptocurrency investor/user.

If you truly feel "safe" holding 100,000 Ethereum in Exodus, OK.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm merely trying to give some practical advice on how to safely store/HODL Bitcoin/crypto.

Exodus wallet is not a good wallet in my recommendation because that wallet is not open source.

You can see reviews on Exodus wallet with a short note that "No source".
https://walletscrutiny.com/?platform=allPlatforms&page=0&query-string=exodus

See Security checklist with one of points is on Open source.

DOs

  • Store your recovery seed offline. May it be on pieces of paper or a steel sheet, and store them somewhere no one else but you has access to.
  • Use a hardware wallet. If you own a decent amount of money invested in cryptocurrencies, store your funds on a reputable hardware wallet like a Ledger or a Trezor.
  • If you only have a few hundred dollars invested in cryptocurrencies, use reputable and open-source wallet software. Something like BlueWallet(Bitcoin) or Rainbow(Ethereum).
  • Be aware of the bitcoin and crypto scams. That way, it significantly lessens the chances of you falling for them.
  • Keep your software up to date. This applies to computers, mobile phones, software wallet version, and hardware wallets. Keeping your software up to date helps a bit in making sure your devices don’t get malware/viruses.

Don't forget to lock in your prediction on Shuffle's NFL Survivor.

The mechanics and details about the contest can be found on the promo page so I wouldn't bother explaining it here.

There's also no entry fee so better not to miss out on the opportunity to win 1 ETH or a piece of it in case we have several users surviving after the final week.

Shuffle had sent pre-monthly bonus a few days ago. It was the first time I had received pre-monthly bonus from them. As a bronze 5 rank user, I had received two different reloads. One of them was worth $0.1 (for 3 days) and the other one was $0.0333 (for 3 days). According to the email, it was a fixed bonus amount for my rank. What is the bonus amount for higher ranked users?
