Lucky me that I did not chase it because my main purpose last week was to unlock my SHFL from the first batch distribution, not to chase for more SHFL from the weekly distribution. From marketing point of view, basically it is smart strategy because it is like pushing players to keep wagering every week to unlock the previous week share + to get another SHFL for the upcoming share. Regular active players are those who will get the benefits from this system.
Just do what you feel most comfortable with and most safest, as doing things aggressively is not actually good and safe. Marketing is like that and basically there is not free lunch, so there are rewards for users who actively participate in marketing programs but there are conditions to force users to be more active in order to be eligible for rewards and distributions.
Consider cost and benefit, and whether you will be able to do that comfortably will decide you should join it or not, or wait for other better times to join.
