The availability of the internet and smartphone devices is making harder for parents to protect their kids from having access to all kind of activities that could be harmful to them, so being open about those dangers seems like the best strategy they can use, however it is important to not underestimate the dangers gambling present for underage people, as this is not only about the money that can be lost, it is a very well established fact that those that suffer from addictions began those behaviors as kids or as teenagers, while an adult person that began to gamble has very low possibilities of ever developing an addiction.

Although being open to them is one way to tell them to stay away from it, I don't think that means we have to deliberately gamble in front of them, I myself think I will tell them when they are old enough or have differences in terms of naughtiness that may change when they often gamble without their parents' knowledge. Dont you find it funny, that we talk so much that we should not gamble in front of kids, how dangerous addiction is, how easy it is to lose money, but we barely discuss what kids are busy with nowadays. It might be only with kids that are around me, but I think it is like that with all kids - they are busy with their own life, and dont pay attention (as much as we paid) to what adults do. With all that gadgets and internet, they have found a more interesting world than IRL. So even if we gamble in front of them, they will barely notice that while surfing in youtube or instagram. So for them to notice gambling and other things, we need to call them and do all of them in front of them on purpose.

Children growing up today live in a digital environment. Tech-savvy, kids will come across all kinds of stuff online, including gaming. We cannot only strive to protect them from it; that is not practical. We must therefore educate them about it instead. Not to urge people to risk but rather to equip them with the information required for wise judgments. We must assist kids in grasping the hazards, possible repercussions, and reality that gaming is not a road to quick money.

Its about developing critical thought ability. Its about helping kids to make wise decisions, to challenge what they observe and hear, and to assess knowledge. This kind of education will really shield children from all kinds of life's obstacles, not only from gambling. Our children need to be empowered, not sheltered. It is not always possible to monitor the children using their mobile devices, because at your age they are a necessity, and with the number of social media platforms, we no longer know what they are really doing.

We can always try our best to make sure that our kids have the best that they want in life, and we can also try to restrict the kind of information they get their hands on, but we can't completely control that. Just as you have outlined, the use of social media makes the parental control job a little bit difficult.
 
Even if you try to reduce the amount you allow them to have access to for their upkeep, if they still want to spare some that could be used for gambling, they can still do that as long as they have time to go out and mingle with friends. Everything can be made possible.

Depends where you live. In my country kids can't play with slots, lotteries, and even online they would need to commit and identity theft, which isn't easy to pull off, and even harder when someone is a kid.

I have 2 kids, and it's never easy to controll what they see but they still don't have social media and i wouldn't even allow them to have that before they are 18. I might seem like over controlling, but when they are adults they have time to be responsible for themselves, but before that, i am responsible and i slowly grow their responsibility on what's appropriate to their age. Kids need limits from adults, otherwise they are burdened by trying to set their own limits, even though they aren't mature enough for it. All because parents were too busy to take care of it, or too lazy, or just didn''t care.

I see many underage children who are still in school at betting places by buying lottery tickets or other bets, and from here it is clear that gambling will always be difficult to remove from the sight of children.

At the moment of explaining poker combinations, I have already noticed my kid being bored and dreaming when it will be a good moment to sneak away from me. Yes, it is really that something which is really that hard to isolate on which simply means that on the moment that you do try to avoid them but with the current accessibility that we do have today due to technology and other friends or other people then there's always the tendency or chance that your kids would really be that still ending up on having that kind of potential engagement due to the fact that young people are really that too highly reactive when it comes to new things that they would encounter. Ok, you try to hide that you gamble as long as possible to avoid curiosity. But what will you do when your kids turns 18? Come to him and try to explain everything that you have prohibited, hidden or said "only adults can do" ? At such an age, the authority of parents isnt as high as used to be. I bet kids at such wont even listen to parents anymore. Because why should then, as they are adults already.

Why parents should consider explaining and showing examples of gambling, instead of simply not gambling in front of then - because there is a huge gap but little time between "to early to know" and "to late to explain". Their parents will not know what they do especially if they are with their friends. And parents now less care to their child because they are busy with their work and that will makes the relation between parents and child will not close. If parents not realize about that, they will lost communication with their child and that will make their child search for other people who can close to them but that people will not always gives a good effect to that child.
