You hold my thoughts in terms of investment in altcoins, because many of them are not worth putting your money into. If I must invest in altcoins, it has to be the these ones that you have mentioned and a few more that have been time tested and proven to be reliable. If I decide to invest in an altcoin now, it'll have to be Ethereum, because I believe that it's the one of the top altcoins that nears bitcoin, in being reliable and time tested, where their investors have complete trust in them.

There are three types of alt coins you will find in the market and we have to utilize it in different way. some coin are worthy to hold for long term, risk level in these coins are low and we could expect a good profit in the future. Eth, Litecoin, XRP are all low risk coins. Medium level altcoins are also good for midterm. The volatility of these coins are better than low level coins but at the same time risk is also hige such as Matic, Arb, OP. High risk coins have very high volatility and we couldn't hold it for long term. In short term if we make proper entry we can make a nice profit. Meme coins, low cap coins and mostly new coins are all high risk coins. I think we should use some money to make quick profit and then use it for buying btc and low risk coins.

Yes true, people who think that they could x100 by investing into something shitty, and getting out before everyone else will end up hurting. That logic in itself is crooked, if you KNOW that it's a terrible token, and you just want to get in and make a profit and get out before everyone else, that is a wrong move. Well said mate and everyone knows an investment in Altcoins should be something that is done on a short term base because like you have explain the easy dumping if these coins makes it very hard to actually have a long term investment in them, well that's only if you want to have an heart attack then you can actually thinking holding these coins for a long time. Just do quick trades if you're able to. The market is still in confirmation period and we get some corrections on its way, if you are not able to ride before it pumps then you have to wait again and see if your validation gets confirmed that we're now on a longer period wherein we should hold for the longer time. Altcoins are not for the long-term, they are only good for short-term trading or scalping, If you are getting 2% profit from a single trade on an altcoin, consider that being very good because making 5 such trades a day would give you a 10% profit for the day which is more than enough. This is the reason why scalpers usually use altcoins for their trades and not Bitcoin since altcoins are more volatile than Bitcoin and also because of the difference in their prices.

So, the answer to your question would be that one should only make quick trades using altcoins and shouldn't buy and hold for a long time unless they want to take the risk hoping and aiming for higher profits which might be possible but since there is a lot of risks involved, people often don't do it.

It's always risky. For more than a year I was investing in BTC only. I wouldn't recommend it, but I can say my opinion. I think that it's a viable strategy.

Every coin is risky even cryptocurrency as a whole is risky so due to risk we cannot move away from profit but in fact we should filter coins through investigation and then choose wisely. Not every coins is profitable but this is also true that not all the coins are unsuccessful. Bitcoin is less risky as compared to other coins but as we see it during bear market then everyone will be afraid to loss money because if price of bitcoin goes down then the down price is more as Compared to altcoins.

Patience is the strategy which can minimize this risk and one day you will see a green market but for it one should leave trading and accept investment because the option of patience is not suitable in trading. I don't think that all the altcoins are risky as you can take the example of Ethereum which is also profitable as that of bitcoin.

It's because of the instability of altcoins, that's why most Investor always want to stick with bitcoin. The volatility is on both altcoin and bitcoin as well, but bitcoin tries as much to retain its value no matter the drop, it will always find it way to top. While altcoin struggle to maintain it's value, so if you must invest on altcoins, you have to do your homework very well.

I am currently doing both, as an investor for Bitcoin and trader for Altcoin, at the moment I am bit hesitant to make entry into market in terms of major investment  because one day Altcoin are having more than 50% increase and the next day the same coin dumps as mentioned in the OP but I am trying to utilise this for multiple quick trades of minimal profit without taking risk of more than 10% as stop loss is placed at 10% in maximum number of cases. I have made some investments when Bitcoin was under $20k and waiting for bull run to reach it's peak for selling it.

Whether its BTC or Altcoins, you will be selling them all when the ATH is reached. I'm currently buying ADA because I wanna get some Midnight tokens, the privacy token of Cardano which they will be distributing to the ADA holders. I think its not very risky anymore to invest in altcoins.

And I will also be staking the ADA for next year's ATH. This bull run they say is going parabolic and maybe we can see prices more than what we expect.

I thought a little, when does investing in altcoins not contain risks? Because as far as I know, investment in altcoins and Bitcoin definitely has risks. So, the size of the risk is what we can actually manage. That doesn't mean we can get zero-risk investment in altcoins. Because after all, there will definitely be a risk of failure and loss of money in investing in altcoins. Either because the altcoins project is a scam, altcoins are just hype and end up dead coins, or because we lack skills in taking these altcoins.

In this case, investment is like what we expect. If it is short term, maybe we can see the price volatility and have quite high trading volume. However, if you want to invest long, then I personally will choose Top altcoins. At least, maybe the risk is not as big as altcoins with a still low market cap.

I would have said that what is riskier is the quick trade but if you can hodl for long then how can't you quickly trade your coins? So, if you want to do quick trades, what I would recommend you do is invest but endeavor that you keep your eyes open so if you see a favorable profit window you can sell, and if you don't, you can keep hodling with the long-term mentality. But please do your research well on what token you're investing in because that really matters.

Diversifying your investment with some altcoins is not a bad though as long as you only invest what you can afford to lose. But never expect that you will eventually make decent profits from it as altcoins are just an alternative to bitcoin, whatever you may gained from bitcoin will never guarantees that you will also gained the same with altcoins. Note that there's higher risk with investing in altcoins, which means the more you become susceptible to losses when you consider altcoins investment.

However, I am only saying the reality about bitcoin and altcoins.  But we also know that the market is highly unpredictable, that sometimes it comes to give higher favor on altcoins that made those who highly risk in altcoins become instant millionaire when they least expect it. But that's only rare to happen as bitcoin is still consider the king in the crypto market.

be careful with corrections though nowadays most of the coin has increased more than 50%, even some reached 100%-300%, I believe it is a sign that we shouldn't recklessly invest otherwise we will get rekt, why? because usually buying at peak is never a good idea, there might be some correction waiting, or there might be even bigger rally waiting we don't know for sure thats why i would carefully invest my money at these time and still also observant towards the market, best opportunity to buy was when in bearish, but its already passed, now we only have coins that have risen quite highly.
I think we should wait until the news of ETF for both bitcoin and ethereum appear then we can make decision, SOL was increasing maybe because FTX was going to get revived under new management which supposedly also gonna help SOL grow, but we also can't be sure with that.

Don't get attracted if the price of altcoins are rising. What if you buy and then the price suddenly dump right after you do it? That's the risk of investing in alts especially those that are not established. If you want to take advantage the frequent changes on the price of altcoins the best time to do it is during dip.

Therefore joining the ride now is quite risky, but of course it's up to you. However, keep in mind that losing your capital is likely to happen. So if I were to invest at this time, I prefer the established ones especially Bitcoin, ETH and BNB.

In my opinion investing into altcoin is always be more risky than Bitcoin, even the biggest altcoin like ETH or BNB. It's a centralized currency, the company cold just shutdown the project anytime they want, or the people behind the project could do some bad things and make people lose their trust in the project. I never put more than 30% of my portfolio in Altcoin and never hodl longer than 4 months, will just take the profit and move on to other altcoin, and I usually just immediately sell my altcoin if the market goes bad.

  The big money in the cryptocurrency field is actually in altcoins, and a lot of people have gotten rich because of altcoins. But, you should also consider that it also has associated risks. It is not easy to choose legitimate and potential altcoins because, most of them, you will think that there are really potentials.

  That's why you, as an investor, should be careful but wise in your choices, as long as you prioritize or base your decisions on at least the top 10 listed in the crypto market so that at least you have a chance to earn or get a profit when it comes to bull runs, but it's still a disclaimer that it's better to do your own research.

You gave me a good advice here. Most time when coin pumps, I follow blindly. I think the best time is truly after ETF. Also, seems FTX announced sell off and they locked up some SOL worth billions of dollars for two years. Although, I heard the ones that are meant to be sold are already being sold. So, I think you are right about not investing recklessly not to get rekt.

Quick trades can be done by those who have enough experience in trading. Fast trading is very risky especially when you are just starting. Fast trading most of the time only happens in futures when you have a high leverage. If you're just starting, just focus on spot trading. Be patient, and learn more.

That righ @ivankoh Everything moves in a cycle. There are times when holding Altcoins makes a lot of profit. If we buy Alcoins now in quantity there will be a lot and if the price rises in the market it will indirectly increase profits. But, we have to be good at sorting because there are so many varieties. Usually the new ones are quite potential but sometimes the duration is short and you have to monitor them because many of them fall along the way.

True, Altcoins can give higher returns in shorter period of time than Bitcoin but it's not guaranteed as Altcoin cannot doesn't have capability to bounce back like Bitcoin but it would be perfect for high risk takes for quick trades and definitely not for beginners unless they go with established Altcoin like Ethereum be because apart from Ethereum we don't have much options even coins like XRP, BNB, ADA and Matic may be risky if you invested at peak and market drops.

I agree with your point that Altcoins are more prefered for active tradings which comes at a risk factor wherein with Bitcoin we can have steady returns of we do it right.

In the current situation, it is indeed suitable for making investments, especially for the short term, of course it is easier to make a profit, considering that market conditions are experiencing a small pump. That type of risk is something I do not really enjoy in my life. This is why I like the top names, get 50%+ btc, get 25-30% ETH and get like 10-20% levels of bnb, that's 100% and you just have three. personally, I think it's a preferential stuff, you could choose to do a long term investment into bitcoin while you invest a little amount into an altcoin you feel won't give you serious heart break because like you said, because of the surge and tye frequent fluctuation most alcoin are experiencing on a regular bases, i won't be reason to consider a long term investment especially at this time. I don't think so. Made a very big mistake of my life and I am still regretting it up till now about what you just said. Concerning new altcoin which I fell o could take advantage of it. I had $30 worth of bit coin and these was a new project that came up and I decide to take advantage of it by investing on it to make profit and return the capital and profit to bicoin, I invested on it and it grew a little with my very eye the coin dropped and drop-off to %70 up till now it has not yet rise again my $30 is just worth%12 so I don't advice anyone to invest in new trending project. Your advice is good but you can do better. Bitcoin is indeed a very good coin when it comes to its steady bullish movements, resilience nature in this bullish season and its reliability as an asset. However, investors cannot make enough money in it compared to what the altcoins would offer due to its heavy size, which makes it wise to diversify our portfolio for better engagement in the cryptocurrency world. This is though an individual's choice, you will see some that would only invest in Bitcoin and shun altcoins, while some will do the opposite by investing entirely in altcoins and shun Bitcoin, while the last category would invest in both. I like to do slow trading. This means I will buy a coin and I will sell it when I get a profit above 50%. I will try to be patient waiting for my selling limit. So I can't say about short or long trades. In current market conditions, it is important to know when to enter and when to exit.

There are quite a few differences between altcoins and bitcoins. Bitcoin is definitely an established coin. In comparison, not all of the altcoins are established. Moreover, there are a lot of altcoins in the market, if you invest in those coins, sometimes you get more profit, but after a long time, those coins lose their value drastically. Although the value of Bitcoin also decreases, after a long time Bitcoin can create a new ATH which is not possible for all altcoins. We have seen altcoins in history where a few of those altcoins survived after getting an ATH, but there are many altcoins that no longer exist. Of course, in investing in altcoins, an investor should select some altcoins that are fundamentally strong. There are some top altcoins that build smart contracts on their platforms or have their own chains. Among those altcoins I prefer Ether and BNB coin.

No one can exactly predict the crypto market. With decades of research and expertise on stock market yet it don't follow the analytic rules, in comparison crypto market is fairly new and even though we have had a rising market for almost all of popular coins including bitcoin and altcoins, there are no certainty that it would follow. The last bull could be the peak for decades to come or we might create a new all time high 2x the last one, no one knows for sure. When investing, it's generally better to look for lows and highs, resistance and support, at the moment, the market feels like it is going above the support level, it could be a good time to buy alts that are closer to the support level than that which are testing the resistance.

Buying a coin in a bull season is actually dangerous but buying a good coin during bull season will help you better particularly, the coin that are yet to see any return on investment, I don't mean the coins that has been pumped in the past bull cycle, the one listed and has only give return on investment on initial listing and that listing is not always consider as return, most often pre-sale investors do has coins lockup so there is no way they can sell.

You can also buy altcoin during the bull season but you have to be smart about it, you can buy altcoin during a pre-sale, this one is usually safe because the listing price is always better than the public price and the public price is always different from listing price, so investing in presale is good if you know your way in and out of crypto and sometimes money is what you need.

Agreed. Altcoins investment is risky at all time and not only in the bear market time and also in the bull market. I have heard some people saying that after when they have invested in the token thinking that the coin would appreciate but instead it depreciate and making them to lost interest to invest again in another coins. It is not easy to invest in altcoins and earn from them as expected because they always display different ways in the cryptocurrency market.
And the best way which I can recommend is to invest at the tender stage and face the risk till it rise up and not to invest in the bull market because you might face the decline of the coin and wait for a very long time.

However most altcoin like ethereum and bnb can be considered to hold for Long term investment, because they has a good potential in the future. most altcoin pump so high but when it falls, it  take years for them to appreciate, most of them can even die in the process. So there is a price increase for altcoin but not a established one like Bitcoin, because we have not seen dump in the value of Bitcoin for over an month now but Altcoins has been pumping and dumping and in my opinion it's not worth to make entery for long term as of now it's good only for quick profit whole being very active. Currently, in Q2 2024, I still believe that most altcoins beyond the top 10 are primarily for short to medium-term profit. One way I've found to potentially benefit is by participating in pre-sales of new projects and selling at public launch, as the price is often still favorable. However, if I truly believe in a project's potential, I might hold (HODL) a small portion, maybe 10-30%, for the long term. This way, even if the price drops, the impact isn't as severe. It's really challenging to find altcoin projects as promising as ETH.

I think investing in cryptocurrency as a whole is a risk.  So, even if it is risky to invest in altcoins now if it turns out cool, then the returns would be really high. You know when the price of Bitcoin increases so does the price of other cryptocurrency. And even afterwards comes the altcoin Eason which is like a blast of altcoins, but at the same time, I'd never advise someone to hold altcoins for a long time. Of course, unless it's Ethereum. I'd only say trading altcoin is the best, just as hodling Bitcoin is the best.

So, even if the prices are more unstable than Bitcoin, it's not risky to invest in it. But be sure to watch the market very closely so you don't lose you're investments.
