Your statement is absolutely correct, Bitcoin is a business where you must take a risk if you want to make profit.
but you must also be sensitive by making your decision, short time investment can help you reduce the risk and plan
better  again, short time investment also gives you the opportunity to study and understand the market very well.
It seems to me that you are misjudging the correct approach to investing in bitcoin, because you are using the concept of "short-term investment", although in fact a real investor sets deadlines from 4 to 10 years. And you also write about risk, and I want to note that if you use an absolutely correct investment strategy such as DCA, then you will not incur any risk, because you will strictly buy bitcoin and you will absolutely not care what the price of bitcoin is now, and what it will be tomorrow. Your head won't even be filled with technical analysis, because you'll realize that you're constantly accumulating, which will inevitably lead to success.
However, I do not agree with those who think that long-term investment means guaranteed success. Not only that, some people still think that there will be no risk in doing DCA and that if you continuously accumulate Bitcoin, you will inevitably succeed, but these are just tools for successful investment. DCA is basically a method of reducing entry-timing risk, not a method of eliminating risk. Suppose someone buys Bitcoin every month for 10 years. Still, some risks remain. It is not certain what the long-term value of Bitcoin will be in the future. If the personal financial situation is bad, he may have to sell Bitcoin at a time when the market is low. Someone can buy an asset for 2 years and invest based on fundamental analysis, while someone can hold an asset for 10 years whose valuation he has no idea about.
The average cost of buying Bitcoin is likely to be higher for someone who is constantly, consistently, regularly, and perhaps even aggressively buying Bitcoin than for someone who is strategic about their Bitcoin purchases.

You think that it is better to employ waiting tactics as compared with ongoingly buying bitcoin?  You are very presumptive, including that you think that it is better to have a lower cost per BTC rather than having more BTC.

And, especially if we measure out for 1-2 cycles or longer, it may well have had been  better to stay focused on trying to improve discretionary income and ongoingly buying bitcoin, rather than fucking around waiting for dips that might not happen.  Waiting is an unhealthy and unserious attitude when it comes to bitcoin accumulation.

Do you need an example? or you just presume that you are smarter than everyone else in terms of being able to identify when and/or how far dips are going to happen?
People find it difficult to understand that waiting for dip can become habit of doing nothing at the end, because you can waste much of your time waiting.thinking that you are be patient while someone people are building a bitcoin position. There is no professional investor that can predict when dip will actually happen or whether the market will move as their expectation, but the amount of bitcoin you can accumulate is things you have some control over. I think focusing on what you can have control over is the best approach, because you can have enough time to keep accumulating over time, if dip later arrives, is another opportunity to accumulate more of it.

I don't really consider Bitcoin as a business for investors because business is what gives someone return almost all the time which means that it is not business for investors but it can be a business for traders because they trade to get return every day or some days which most times doesn't give the return. And for your Information, short term investment doesn't and can never reduce any risk instead you will stand a higher chance of losing your money and please don't Infect pleb with your trading mentality.
Some person with their crazy mentality, people just want to make money very quick, why is that everything has become fast money making avenue for some folks, they forget that every investment has their concept and before anyone can think of trading with Bitcoin, they should first have a rethink if Bitcoin is actually for trading or long-term hodling, the reason why people get stucked halfway is because they think that Bitcoin can give them all they need in a short while but that is like asking too much from a system that is not meant to be like that, I do not know how traders reason, however, I'm very much concerned about newbies who read some of this things.
I agree with your point in favor of a long-term mindset. But the idea that past price action is almost certain to lead to future gains may be wrong. We have seen Bitcoin make new highs in the past through several cycles. But it is not the kind of Bitcoin contract that will happen again. A long-term view of 4-10 years or more may be good, but holding for a specific 4-10 years does not guarantee that you will get a certain result. Taking the 4-10 years you mentioned as a viable planning horizon and that being the only definition of long-term investing is not the same thing.

Your plan may be five years, but if your financial situation is good at the end of five years and you do not need to sell, you can continue for another five years. Again, an emergency situation may change your plan.

What's your take on this? Given the period we're in is it buy time or sell time?

Judging from the reputation of Bitcoin over the year, I think there is no specific time to buy or sell Bitcoin, no matter the price at that moment, it all depends on your plan or should I say strategy

This is why starting your Bitcoin journey without clear plan or strategy has cost many people alot painful lessons.
What strategy are you talking about? There is no specific time to buy bitcoin because we can buy bitcoin anytime at all provided that we have our discretionary income and the DCA is the best strategy to use if you want to buy whenever, this is because what a person needs to start investing in bitcoin is their discretionary income and I would advise any newbie who whats to invest in bitcoin to use the DCA as their strategy of choice and to make sure they don't get tempted to invest outside of their discretionary income.
Don’t you think he could be talking about other strategies, we have lump sum and buying the dip, actually there is no particular time to buy bitcoin, which is why the DCA is also there where we can buy bitcoin as much discretionary income that we have available, but there are people who also have some amount of money that want to buy in bulk through lump sum, which isn’t a bad strategy at all, what is a bad strategy is waiting for a dip before buying bitcoin, I think a newbie starting bitcoin investment should be well aware of starting with the DCA first of all, before starting to try other different techniques.
Fair enough, my reaction was due to the person being a newbie, newbies shouldn't be bothering themselves with the strategy to use, for them the most ideal strategy is the DCA (it's also the most ideal strategy for all bitcoin investors) so instead of trying to work out which strategy will work for a newbie they should just start using the DCA, there is no price or time tag on it, as long as they have their discretionary income they can start buying bitcoin from it, they can decide to use the other strategies if they are opportuned to use them but the DCA is the most newbie friendly investment strategy.
Beginners should start investing very simply, starting Bitcoin investment is not a complicated matter, the easier you take it, the easier it will become for you. Starting investment with a consistent strategy for the long term is not a difficult task.
The concept is very natural and simple, you do not need to know Bitcoin completely at first and you do not have to wait here to know everything. That is, first acquire only the natural and general knowledge of Bitcoin, that is enough to start investing. Use money that is not allocated to you for any work, and keep this investment for the long term, do not try to make profits by trading in the short term.
Do not wait for a specific price to buy Bitcoin and never be greedy and emotional. Rather, you should be stable towards the goal with which you started investing. And this is how you need to prepare everything after starting the investment, such as emergency funds, backup funds, and everything necessary, and this way you can get to know Bitcoin better through real experience.

An investor does not need to trade at all, there’s no reason for you to be dwelling on short term price movements, it’s only going to waste your time and cost you reasonable money that could have gone to build your bitcoin portfolio. Trading even when it’s beneficial cannot be compared to the long term gains, investors should know this.

You’re right 2-3 years is a long time but considering holding in bitcoin it’s not long term. The minimum long term is to complete a cycle and that’s 4 years. So an investor should consider holding for a period of 4-10 years or more.
Maybe five years is a reasonable planning horizon. But I don't see the need to make it the definitive definition of long-term investing. While time is important for an investor, time is not the only thing. Someone may have a five-year goal, but if they invest beyond their limits, don't have an emergency fund, or change their strategy after seeing price fluctuations in a few months, then writing five years on the calendar does not solve these problems. Again, many people start planning for 4 years, but later, depending on their financial situation, it can be longer.

So, more important than five years is the question of whether the person can afford to keep the money they are buying Bitcoin with for a long time.
I don’t know if you’re quoting correctly cos my reply didn’t mention any definitive timeline, there was no mention of 5 years Just the minimum time frame considered as long term which is four years that was mentioned.

Yes each investor can set their goals to whatever timeframe they may choice to suit their situation or circumstances. I also didn’t make time the ultimate for an investor, there was no mention of time as a the only factor. I wonder where you’re replying from.

A bitcoin investor has to ensure that he has a strategy that will see him comfortably invest in bitcoin for the long term; therefore he has to build an emergency fund and all other backup funds. A disciplined investor doesn’t have to change his strategy based on price fluctuations.

And that’s the more reason why having an emergency funds is important for bitcoin investors who’s plan is to invest and hold for long term goal so  they don’t get to halt or change their long term plan by selling their bitcoin holding when got hit by an emergency situation. Emergency situations occurs anytime without informing anyone, so as an investor who’s ongoingly buying bitcoin and HODL, there are certain things you need to put in place to enable you achieve a long term goal , one of  which is the emergency funds, it acts as a shield for bitcoin hodling plan.

There is no much technique in Bitcoin investment, the most and commonly used method is the DCA method of accumulating Bitcoin but an investor can use any of the method to support it later when opportunity present itself that is if there is Dip as we progress in our Bitcoin accumulation but waiting without growing your investment gradually will delay the time you might have used to draw closer to your target and the advantage of accumulating gradually ( consistently) can not really be measured. However, whenever there is a Dip and you are not prepared for it, I will advise you let the opportunity go because it is not a must to buy during the Dip.

People who think the waiting tactics is a better option cause their discretionary income is small amaze me, is it that they've lost hope of getting more income or just dependent on Bitcoin for wealth without putting efforts to make it achievable, because if someone consistently accumulate Bitcoin for over a full circle, there's chances that the person could get another source of income before or after a full circle and be able to generate more discretionary to increase the % for accumulating, so having little discretionary for a start is not an excuse for waiting for Bitcoin to go lower before buying.

Even if person cannot generate more source of income in the long run, they can still continue to keep using that same amount of discretionary income for their ongoing investment. If person plan is to invest for a long time then it is just a matter of time and they will be able to achieve their goal. Bitcoin is open for everyone, it isn't only for person with a stable income, so nobody should look down on their amount they are using, because in bitcoin investment, no amount is considered insignificant.

Every amount count and if person can be willing to be consistent by putting in that amount for many years, then those little effort that is done consistently can eventually bring those stunning results. Consistency brings fabulous results.

I don’t actually blame those who are from poor background because it is not actually easy for them.
Those that are from poor background, and not ready to have patience should not think of investing in bitcoin, they should think of investing in another business that can give them quick money and when they are now comfortable, they can come back to invest in bitcoin this is my advice for anyone who can’t be patient waiting for bitcoin.

People find it difficult to understand that waiting for dip can become habit of doing nothing at the end, because you can waste much of your time waiting.thinking that you are be patient while someone people are building a bitcoin position. This habit of waiting for the dip has made some people decide not to invest in Bitcoin again. most people that wait for dip still end up accumulate at the top price because the price of Bitcoin did not down as they planned. It is funny to always see people trying to predict the Bitcoin market price. I always think, how is it possible for someone to think they can predict the price of Bitcoin that millions of people are making decisions about? It is not a single person who is in control of it.Everyone should understand that while some of us are thinking about waiting for the price to drop, some people else are thinking about how to buy more. So, if anyone understands that different people are making their own decisions about Bitcoin, it becomes very clear that trying to predict the price of Bitcoin is just a matter of waiting and hoping that the market moves according to your prediction.

I have a friend who had the money to invest in Bitcoin when the price was down, but he refused to invest because he had been seeing people on social media saying that the price of Bitcoin would fall further. I told him that those people were only making assumptions based on their own opinions; they did not know what would actually happen to the price of Bitcoin. But he did not listen. That is how he kept waiting for the Bitcoin price to fall to his target price. Bitcoin never came down to his target, and that is how it took him so long to  start investing. Later, he ended up still buying at a higher price than the price Bitcoin wanted to invest at first.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for poor people who do not have a lot of patience.

I do understand that poor people tend to not have as many resources to work from and/or they do not have as much discretionary income, so it takes them way longer to build up wealth, yet the fact that they are poor still should not give them an excuse to not be disciplined and purposeful in their bitcoin investment and to not screw themselves by cashing out too many bitcoin too soon.  Building wealth tends to take a long time, and it tends to take an even longer time for poor people, so poor people are stuck in a situation that they need to have more patience, more resourcefulness, more organization skills and more needs to learn from their experience and the experience of others.   So, yeah, it is likely going to take quite a bit longer before poor people will be able to really start to feel that their wealth status is improving based on their having had bought bitcoin and their having had managed their bitcoin holdings and other aspects of their cashflow management in reasonable and prudent ways.

Sure.  Some guys may start buying later and at a higher price than what they could have had bought, yet once they get started hopefully they learn from their mistakes and they continue to buy and start to become more serious in terms of developing  systems to ongoingly and persistently buy bitcoin.  It tends to take a while to build a bitcoin investment no matter when a person starts to buy.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

If you are poor and you want to move up from the level you are you must be self discipline also encourage your self and be patient and never stay in a place fold your hands that things will get better one day. Investing in bitcoin comes with a lot of discipline and patience and if you see that you can't figure out any discretionary income don't try and invest in bitcoin because doing so you are gambling already and you can't hold for long, but if you can figure out your discretionary income as low income earner be patient to hold for long and denial your self some unnecessary stuffs in life so you can still be regularly buying bitcoin and hold without selling your bitcoin.

In my own perspective, there's no case in bothering yourself because you didn't buy the bitcoin at time, Even missing an earlier opportunities of buying bitcoin doesn't totally means the door has closed completely. So getting involved late is much more better than staying stagnant forever. In fact making a first step today is still good, because the most important thing is developing the disciplines in you and be going gradually over time, then with that you be able to discover or realize all the past mistakes and lapses and then make an adjustment or change strategies, and gradually building a good strategy that sooth your discretionary income level, newbies should understand the point that, no one has to figure out everything in the first day, the most relevant things is to get started and be patience.

The only reason why people are very eager to make money very fast is because they desire to become rich and change their situation and the situation of their family, if you are from a poor background, it is very difficult for you to have patience, you will always want to make money very fast because of the situation in your family.

First, I would start by saying that there's no shortcut to success. Believe me they are not the only people that wants to be rich through Thier investment,  of course there are many investors who are also praying to become rich with Bitcoin investment in fact, is everyone's prayer point.  but to achieve this you need to be patient I'm sure that those who are rich today wait patiently before they were able to get to that position they are today, they didn't rush things just one step at a time wealth is not built over night but it takes a lot of time before you can build it. this is exactly what I used to tell those who are new to Bitcoin, and let me also tell you one thing you don't understand. Bitcoin does not look at the background a guy is coming  or investing from, so I can't even consider anyone due to the background they came from to say let them do whatever they like, even if I do, Bitcoin can't even treat them like they are coming from poor background. if they can't stick to Long term then it will be better off if they look into other business or investment that is good in short term than to fuck around Bitcoin because Bitcoin investment is for Those who are serous I mean those who are ready to sacrifice Thier time just to hold Thier Bitcoin.

. Investing in bitcoin comes with a lot of discipline and patience and if you see that you can figure out any discretionary income don't try and invest in bitcoin because doing so you are gambling already and you can't hold for long,
What are you even saying here, I thought that investing in Bitcoin is best done with out discretionary income, So why are you saying this?
I don't believe that you are saying the right thing because figuring out our discretionary income is the first step to invest in bitcoin, and once you can figure it out, you can invest right away, so I don't agree with this your above statement.

Is your friend still new in crypto or has little experience? Coz only people like them do that. One thing they don't understand is you really can't exactly tell the bottom. You are lucky if you do, but it's normal if not. Just buy it, as long as the price is down already, and don't wait for the exact bottom. You don't have a time machine, and you're not extremely lucky to always buy at the very bottom.

If it falls down even more after you buy, just wait, you're not going to lose anyway as long as you don't sell at a lower price. This is bitcoin after all, not just some memecoin out there that has little to no chance of recovering.

If you are poor and you want to move up from the level you are you must be self discipline also encourage your self and be patient and never stay in a place fold your hands that things will get better one day. Investing in bitcoin comes with a lot of discipline and patience and if you see that you can figure out any discretionary income don't try and invest in bitcoin because doing so you are gambling already and you can't hold for long, but if you can figure out your discretionary income as low income earner be patient to hold for long and denial your self some unnecessary stuffs in life so you can still be regularly buying bitcoin and hold without selling your bitcoin.
You say in one place that investing in Bitcoin requires a lot of discipline and patience, and in the very next line you claim that if you have an additional source of income, investing in Bitcoin will be gambling.
This is a completely contradictory and self contradictory statement! You can probably tell whether you are saying this knowingly or by mistake. But if you really believe it please do not confuse newbies like us by saying such two things. Because I am getting confused myself after listening to you!
I always hear senior investors including JayGeeJuan sir in the forum saying that investment should always be done from Discretionary Income. Only if you have additional or surplus income can you invest in Bitcoin with peace of mind. Because this money is not needed for your daily household or emergency expenses.

The only reason why people are very eager to make money very fast is because they desire to become rich and change their situation and the situation of their family, if you are from a poor background, it is very difficult for you to have patience, you will always want to make money very fast because of the situation in your family. Many investors did not have patience at the beginning of the investment. They have regularly accumulate Bitcoin and practiced patience. A poor person who has come this far and wants to improve his financial condition through Bitcoin should be encouraged. It is true that those who come from poor families need money, but they are more patient than the boys from rich families and are more serious about long term Bitcoin investment. They have a mental desire to grow up, they like to struggle to grow up and improve their condition through hard work and create multiple sources of income by acquiring skills.

Bitcoin investment should be given equal priority without considering any different criteria of rich or poor and they should be encouraged to invest in Bitcoin for the long term by giving them the right advice. Everyone, rich or poor, should have patience and build Bitcoin holdings with long term efforts.

Yes, I agree with your point; he suggested that one shouldn't rush to invest simply because they have some discretionary income available. I feel he didn't articulate that thought very clearly—or if he did, it needed further clarification. @Umulala-alala, statement could cause newcomers to lose interest in Bitcoin or lead them to draw the wrong conclusions.Let us first address the matter of knowledge regarding Bitcoin. You do not necessarily need extensive knowledge to start investing in Bitcoin; if you have discretionary income, you can gradually accumulate small amounts of Bitcoin, increasing both your holdings and your knowledge over time. Furthermore, by investing your discretionary income using the DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) method, you will not need to worry about market price fluctuations. Therefore, manage your cash flow and discretionary income properly, invest using the DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) method, and structure your investment strategy in such a way that you are never forced to sell your accumulated Bitcoin.

It’s not about being a low earner or a high earner. Your income matter because it determines how much room one has, but ability to manage and work with it is what’s important.

This is why folks should not think they need to be rich to start buying Bitcoin. Just make sure your long term plan matches with your financial with your financial situation. Once a person discretionary income figured out, they can decide how much of it they want to put into Bitcoin and start from there. The amount may be little, but little amounts can still build into something meaningful over time if the person is consistent.

And of course, it’s good to cut off unnecessary spendings but that doesn’t mean you should suffer yourself to prove you believe in Bitcoin. If your strategy or allocation requires you deny yourself basic enjoyment or ignore other financial needs, then you’re not building a sustainable plan at all
