Indian squad for T20 World Cup announced

As expected Virat Kohli, Sanju Samson, Rishab Pant are part of the team. Confused to see Hardik Pandya as a VC whereas he has been out of form in IPL 2024 and no KL Rahul in the squad.

^^ IMO It was actually a correct decision to bowl first because dew did come hard during 2nd inning.

Luckily for CSK, their bowlers, especially Jadeja manage to keep things tight with the wet ball. This is a tough thing to do and you need a ton of practice and there is no guarantee that it'll come off on any given day.

Jadeja is a specialist in spin bowling, if he doesn't contribute with the bat he contributes with his spin bowling. Tushar Deshpande  was the main reason why SRH got wasted on that day he took 4 wickets in that match.

Abhishek Sharma was another worthy candidate for the backup opener but guess management still backing Gill.

I was expecting some fresh face in this ICC series, most of the names seen in this squad are out of form. For example Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Sing, Rohit Sharma (he has to be included as he was announced the captain long back), Virat Kohli (SR is terrible for T20 class). SKY has not been that efficient after his injury and Avesh Khan again? What prompted the selectors to again include him as a probable? I doubt this team has anything to offer and trust me the Mumbai chief selector has gone nuts.

When India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, it was a new team filled with players who had a strong desire to win. However, the current team for the 2024 World Cup seems to have a different focus. Many of the players are more interested in securing their earnings for the upcoming IPL season than winning the tournament. I believe that Ajit Agarkar, the team selection committee member, has either lost his mind or is being paid by the franchise to select these players. Additionally, there is a considerable number of cricket players who have made Mumbai their home.

That's what everyone thought after last T-20 wc and  Bcci  actually started building new team as well, atleast it appeared on paper because senior players didnt feature in single t-20 match for like 16-18 months but just before the Ipl everyone joined the t-20 side against Afghanistan.

Win or lose, this time BCCI need to kick these seniors out of the team because they wont take voluntary retirement or willingly give spot to young player.

Today we have another important game which is between CSK and PBKS. It is an important game for CSK as they will need to win this game to keep themselves within the reach of being part of the playoffs.

Both MI and RCB are now out of the scene. Another bad year for MI as RCB has not become habitual of losing IPL. It looks like there will be a good competition this time between the top 4 teams according to the current point table to win this year cup.

The BCCI should exclude a few bowlers such as Arshdeep Singh to include Rinku as he as a bowler and Aversh Khan are the worst that the team needs.

I don't see any news in the cricbuzz site about the extension of date to make changes in the squad but likely what you said is true cause PCB yet to announce their Squad and in X I can see they will be announced by May 23rd, so yeah that's good to correct the mistake of excluding Rinku, and extra spinner that should be occupied by one more pacer cause it's zero possibility that India will play any match with 3 spinners combination. Also Hardik should justify his selection with some performance.

BCCI has a weird fetish for all format players. One of the reasons they are backing the likes of Jaiswal and Gill.

The latter is blue eyed boy for BCCI, although his stocks were going down in the test format and there were murmurs of him getting dropped and playing more Ranji matches but he managed to come back strongly in the last 3 test matches he played against England.

I'd prefer Jaiswal-Rohit to open, it has worked so far why wouldn't now? Hardik gives much needed strength in lower middle order, don't see how his presence there would be ineffective, let's forget his form for a moment.

Considering the article is 2 days old I could not find any updates made in the article. I don't think any extension has been give it is a fake news.

Changes are allowed til May 25. Some teams still haven't announced their first-hand squad yet, so dunno how that works.

All teams are allowed to make changes to their squad until 25 May, after which any alteration will require approval from ICC's Event Technical Committee.
