Since you clearly misunderstood my post as you often do. I’m going to quote what I said in the other thread so others can get the full context

For the first question if the father is a gambler then he will allow his children gambling and I will not know which age he will like to allowing them to gambling but as for me from 18 years and above because at that age they can withstand with the pressure of gambling.

Gambling is not a hobby parents teach their children. Just because the father is gambler doesn’t necessarily mean he would approve of his kids gambling. Parents are usually protective and shield their children from their vices.

First of all I will like to define hobby in my own understanding. Something that one like to do always either for pleasure, leisure or entertainment. And example of hobbies which I know. Swimming which can be a game as well, reading which can also be a competition as " reading competition", and anything competition is a game, and sport. Sport can be someone hobby if the person love sports and like to partake in it. And that means something you partake that you have leisure and pleasure can be your hobby.

It is a hobby in all senses of the word. You got something that you can play while you're out and about, something that you can devote a good portion of your wee hours into without really committing to it for the long-term, and gambling just fits the bill.

Though I would just like to point out that gambling is the and should be the least of your choices when you're picking out a hobby, it's great and all but the thing is that a lot of newcomers tend to be very stupid with how they manage their shit and gambling eats these kinds of people alive. If you don't know how to manage your bankroll, commit to self-control and not let the losses get to you, cause trust me, you'll be getting more losses than wins your entire gambling career, you can't be gambling at all.

There are other more fulfilling hobbies out there than gambling too, I myself picked out keyboard modding as a full-blown hobby and took up gambling as a side-thing I got going on when I get bored of dismantling keyboards, putting them back together so it could sound "better". I suggest you do the same since for me, hobby as it is, gambling shouldn't really be your whole thing.

It’s sort of the original video game but they had to add in the chance to win money otherwise they would be too boring by today’s standards. I think this is already the answer to everything. Truly,  gambling is built for entertainment and to satisfy the pleasure of the gamblers who want to play and experience the thrill of gambling, but gambling will never be considered a hobby again if the gambler is experiencing addiction, to the point that they will play just to hope to win money or they can't control themselves to play more and more until they make themselves dry. That's when gambling will be considered an addiction to a gambler. I also experienced treating gambling as a hobby as an addiction, but luckily I pulled myself out and was able to exercise self-control. That's why for me now, gambling is more of a hobby.

Especially when I want something that will make me excited and give me the feeling of thrill, as that is what gambling is giving, but I only gamble in card games because I get to use my skill and mind in order to win, and that is very satisfying if you win against your opponent.

You can have other things that you take as your serious hobby anytime you need something to do, and things you like doing other things should be there unless they are not available.
 
Then you can bring gambling in as a secondary hobby for those who can consider it one. The reason why I said it shouldn't be a primary hobby is that presenting gambling as a hobby somewhere somehow looks like you are addicted to the game, even when you are not. It's not everything that's worth bringing to the front of a book cover page.

According to my dictionary, "a hobby is an activity that one enjoys doing in one's spare time." Gambling doesn't actually require any serious skill or profession before one can start gambling, and as such, it could be a hobby for anyone who loves gambling. Normally, nobody is always busy for 24 hours a day. We usually have some free time to rest, and if gambling is what you are always using your free time to do, then it becomes your hobby. That's my opinion. Gambling is a hobby for the majority of people, while sports are also a hobby for many people. The other day, someone said that trading is their hobby, while one cannot trade without learning the skill, but for gambling, no skill is required.

Well gambling can mostly certainly be your hobby but there should also be some level of restrictions because gambling can turn out to be that one hobby that can actually destroy you that's if you get too attached to it. Those that are saying that it's not, they have their own opinions for it but we just can't understand why they think so. But maybe, there's a chance that they've got a bad experience on it.

I do not really see the source of your confusion, anything can be a hobby, even staring at the wall for hours could be a hobby as long as you like it, those that do not consider gambling a hobby are either ignorant about the true meaning of the word, or they are trying to disqualify gambling as a hobby simply because some people can go overboard with it, a mistake without a doubt as that has nothing to do with the definition of the word itself.

Yes someone can have more that one hobby and any number you need. This your question indicates that you are still a very young person in the forum. And you have not prepared Curriculum Vitae (CV), if not you would have known hobby in your CV. As I explained in the Op, things you like doing to have happiness so when preparing your CV, you put all the things you are doing as Sport or others as hobby.

Whether they consider it a hobby or not, it's personal to each individual. Some people collect stamps or colorful shells from the shores and they call it a hobby. Gambling is too broad but maybe one can just point out that playing poker is a hobby that they play with their family members in their leisure time.

I'm not sure what you may come up with when you determine what the community thinks of gambling being a hobby. But to me, it's just a personal choice. If a person thinks its a hobby to watch naked girls using his binoculars to the windows of there next building, it's his personal choice.

Sir your examples are going out of point. You can be on the track by saying yes or no then you can give small explanation and not picking shells or gambling is a broad event. Here I only asked if gambling is a hobby and you can narrow all your broadness of gambling to say no or yes. I don't know if you really understand the content. Hobby is not a matter of choice but something that is in you. And once you are doing it it automatically becomes a hobby whether knowingly or unknowingly, it is an hobby in you. If you are not doing that thing then it is not your hobby. So remove choice from hobby. I made some clear explanations and links in the Op. Hobby is anything that a person likes to do whenever they have free time, for example a person who works, studies and only has 2 hours free every day. and to relax she uses these two free hours to play the piano, so this person's hobby is playing the piano. in the same way that a person who works a lot and only has 3 hours every day to relax can take his binoculars and watch women on the beach if he lives near a beach, in this case that person can say what his hobby is and watch women on the beach. It's hard to imagine a person having stress at work and in the free time he spends relaxing playing games and then saying he relaxed while losing money. he will be lying, no one likes to lose money, no one is calm when they lose, on the contrary, people tend to become irritated, sad and have greater stress when they lose. So gambling is not a hobby. Even in the case of people addicted to gambling, it is not a hobby for them. What happens in the case of people addicted to gambling is that they become addicted to the game, so they play all the time, they don't just play in their free time. As long as they have money, then they will be gambling all the time, and that's why people addicted to gambling lose everything: they lose their job, school, wife and family. because they want to spend as much time playing and that is not a hobby.

I think this remains an acceptable definition for the term, hobby.
Though, when one finds himself having gambling for a hobby, you might find yourself being an addictive gambler. That’s because, hobby comes with a key phrase which is “something one does likes to do often” and when someone likes to gamble often, that is an addicted gambler.
With addiction being something that should be avoided by any gambler as it relates the field, gambling can’t be something you do as a hobby. It just wouldn’t suit very much, you’ve got to step it down.

Some people think gambling can be a job or a side hustle, instead of a hobby, however I must say they are wrong. Gambling doesn't provide sustainable income on long run, therefore it can't be considered a job or a source of income. So, if it's not a job, what can it be besides a hobby activity people engage in a frequent basis? Since people can't make consistent money from it, what other reasons would motivate them to gamble, if not pleasure and entertainment?

It has to be a hobby, after all! Otherwise, if it was all about profits, it would have already stopped being a thing since a long time ago, as most people lose the more they play. However, even facing losses, they still keep coming back for more, leading me to conclude they play because they feel excited and emotionally rewarded, despite the financial losses suffered along the time.

I was listening to a radio program recently and they were trying to compare smoking and drinking as responsible act, and so some other speakers mentioned gambling such as sport betting also being in the same category as the two above mentioned.


And to a great extent the commentators were able to analys and established a view point that both smoking and drinking can be taken as responsible act if the actors does it in moderation and privacy, this makes it becomes an acceptable hobby, so for sure it is and well accepted.
