After seeing the game between Manchester City and Arsenal that ended the way it ended,  I think Madrid will be more confident that they can win the fixture  against Manchester city and city will have their confidence tampered as they were literally humbled by an epic scoreline in the yesterday's fixture. I n this fixture it's sad that winning is the only option for either teams as they cannot draw and still have a chance so it's going to be a really epic and yet intriguing game between both teams.

I can not stop watch the short video of how they were defeated and I called my friends that are Manchester City fans tell them how how the shamelessly defeated by Arsenal after all the talks on how they will beat Arsenal downl and look at who was beating down if the expectations can be sometimes high but you can not even predict exactly what is going to happen.

All my thoughts was that the game is going to end draw that is one of the biggest expectations, and arsenal defender well and some of there fans were saying winning them is not a problem that we used use the goals to win the league they should not worry when we want to win the title and the competition is not yet over so there still time for arsenal to make up everything they lost, the fact they even defeated the city is enough for me, they are just to people that are too proud.

And if the is no goal then I expected a 0:0 but them the goals are just to much and it will now be in record that arsenal defeated Manchester City.

I also think the same thing, after seeing City defeated by Arsenal in the Premier League, it seems that we are increasingly doubtful about their match against Real Madrid later. City's weak defense seems to be a target for Madrid's front line players who have skills and speed. IMO, this is no longer about confidence, but it seems that Ancelotti has observed the weaknesses of Manchester City players and their system. but we'll just see how Pep Guardiola will process his tactics and strategies later, because no matter what City will work hard to win the match against Madrid. the first leg is held at the Alliaz Arena, they will try hard to return to their best performance. even so, City is still very doubtful, I think Real Madrid will be favored in the battle between these two teams.

Well, they still got FA cup game before the playoff 1st leg against Real Madrid. If they can win, it will boost their morale but if they lose, it will only make things worse. But I must say I'm disappointed at their performance at the weekend. They can lose to any side at their worst moment but to lose in the manner they did against Arsenal was quite shocking. Goals were pouring in like free booze and Pep couldn't do anything to stop it. From their recent results, it's quick for anyone to write them off but I hope they put up a good fight against Los Blancos.

I don't think the FA cup match is worthy of boosting their morale against an elite team like Real Madrid. What I expect them to do is to remove fear and forget about their ordeal, then face Real Madrid with everything they've got as if their life depend on that match. They should also be willing to accept whatever result they get from that match because the probability that the match will go against them is very high. Real Madrid have been in good form though and will not want to crash out of the champions league at this stage, hence they may likely win the match. I really find it strange that Real Madrid and Manchester City always meet in the champions league, I don't know if that is a mere coincidence or not.

I believe that City will not survive from the playoffs, because in history Real Madrid haven't been kicked out from the group stage, and I don't think that will happen this season. So, I think it is not impossible that Man City can surprise us by beating Real Madrid in UCL plays off round because Real Madrid is also not playing in their best form nowadays. The history of winning 14 UCL titles will never guarantee Real Madrid to beat Man City.

Man City was defeated by Arsenal but you also have to see Real Madrid in their last match that they also suffered a defeat when facing Espanyol, for Man City's defeat I can still understand because Arsenal's performance was better than theirs but Real Madrid's defeat to Espanyol was really unacceptable how will they face Man City later? yes I hope the defeat will not affect the mentality of each team so that we can see both teams competing fiercely to win a place in the last 16.

This won't count anything. You can have a look at the past and check their Champions League history, but it doesn't help you a lot with any projections you may want to make. Manchester City has joined the strongest competition in the Champions League long after Real Madrid was in it for decades. It is correct that recently Real Madrid in regards to the number of titles was stronger than anyone else, but all of those titles have been so close. It could have gone either way in almost all of the games. I think any different view on the matter ignores reality.

Manchester City still has a reasonable chance here although they lack the right condition, but in these setups when the Champions League is on the line, sometimes teams can instantly change for the better and evoke a new team spirit and hype themselves up during the game especially when they realize that something is possible.

If Manchester City concedes an early goal, I am not sure how they would be able to cope with that.

They have every reason to be doubtful of themselves because they are totally out of form, and we all know how good this real Madrid team is, even arsenal that beat Manchester city easily cannot knockout real Madrid in both legs if they ever meet each other because I believe that real madrid is more superior to arsenal.
Since the Qatar base investors bought Manchester city I haven't seen them so weak as they are presently, and they the  real Madrid team they are playing is in a very good form, so it's actually going to be a very difficult game for this Manchester city side, though anything can happen in the game of football, but I still believe that Manchester city cannot survive real Madrid over two legs in this playoff games coming up.

To be fair the fact that City lost to Arsenal has nothing to do with UCL part, while yeah that looks bad for them, the reality is that we are also seeing a situation that is very different in this regard at UCL since they do not usually face that much difficult opponents. Look at previous premier league games that they lost, and UCL games that they failed to win, none of them were as big as Arsenal game.

While I would totally understand them losing to Arsenal, the problem was before all of this, it was during that famous November - December period, this loss isn't one of those type of things, they just lost to a big team. Because both Madrid and Man City suffered defeats in the Domestic competition so that the chances of both teams so far are considered almost the same, maybe only the advantage of playing home and away. Now Man City starts as the host, so it needs to give a lot of surprises to Real Madrid. For me the competition between the two teams is still the same as last season where it will be quite heated.

Dortmund are starting off with a clean slate together with Niko Kovac... What do you say? Will his first times go nice in the Champions League and Bundesliga both?  

Their opponent in the Champions League playoffs is Sporting by the way. Since Amorim's departure I can't say they have got better here. But Gyökeres is still very dangerous as he is contributing to goals like a machine.    Dortmund on the other hand, they have been terrible with defending so far. Sacking Nuri Şahin was the right decision. But we don't have any idea about what Niko Kovac will do yet. I just hope to see some progress on their side. As a reminder, Dortmund were a finalist last season. I'm curious how far they will make it this time...

Mike Tullberg has given high standard to Niko Kovac because as interm coach Mike Tullberg have done well and his record is 2 wins and 1 draw from 3 latest matches i think Niko Kovac a bit under pressure because he must be able to do more than Mike Tullberg did and before this match Dortmund has a match against Stuttgart in Bundesliga so let see it later whether Niko Kovac can able to extended unbeated record from Dortmund or not

And for Sporting since Amorim leave the situation of this team is not really good because Joao Pereira as the replacement of Amorim have to sacked after Sporting gets poor results under him and since December Rui Borges is in charge which Sporting performance is much better under him

So basically the condition of both teams is not so different because they have a problem with the consistency which caused they have to changing the manager and Sporting have no good history in this competition because their highest achievement is only quarterfinal on season 1982-1983 and Dortmund as the finalist of last season probably as the favourite but it's hard to predict Dorrmund under Niko Kovac

Arsenal is not a weak club and they took advantage of City unstable performance to score as many goals as possible. City is not the same as they use to be in previous seasons, and we shouldn't expect too much from them, otherwise, you will be disappointed. I am not also expecting them to win Madrid so that I don't feel bad when the opposite happens. Madrid is in a better position to win City.

Winning the FA Cup will be a motivation to boost the players' confidence after being crushed by Arsenal in the EPL. I think Guardiola will not take any risks in the FA Cup in order to maintain the fitness of his mainstay players against Real Madrid in the UCL play-off round.
