How it everyone feeling during this altcoin crash?

Less than 24 hours left of 2025 and what an awful year it has been for Bitcoin & altcoins.

I feel hardly any of us know what to expect anymore as the 4 year cycle is dead so we do not know what 2026 will bring. Will it be bullish or bearish? No one knows for sure. For those who believed in the 4 year cycle, 2025 was supposed to be a good year like 2021 was but it’s been terrible.

2026 could be a good year but I don’t see anything happening till at least Q2 as the whole sentiment across crypto right now is very bad and feels like it will take a few months at least to get any positivity back.

I am still holding, haven’t bought any crypto for almost a month now as expect us to go lower in the next few weeks, waiting for Bitcoin to hit $82k before I buy more.

My portfolio is currently -24% which is the lowest it’s been for a few years but I’ve seen this before , will hold no matter what and just wait for the good times to return just none of us know when that will be , could be a few months or we might have to wait till 2nd half of 2026. Either way I will wait for better days to return.

Crypto is just finally coming to a new paradigm where 4 year cycle is no longer exist. Like or not, crypto is not tied to the Bitcoin only, but it's also being driven by macro and micro economic. This makes it so hard to predict the future direction.

Even if you re holding crypto. I think you shall not forget to rotated some to the hyped coin. Some coins were able outperforming the market like CC or Night. Don't you ever think about that?

I think it has to do more with the fact that both retail and institutional investors aren't buying altcoins. They're buying Bitcoin in-mass due to the "Digital Gold" frenzy. Even ETH's spot ETFs haven't been any help. I guess the excitement will begin once other alts get their own spot ETFs. By other alts, I mean Litecoin, XRP, and the rest. Once there's a resurgence in altcoins, market prices will rebound faster than you can imagine.

Perhaps, 2026 will be a good year for altcoin holders. We'll never know for sure until the time comes. Just be patient to obtain great results in the future.

Yes, fear is undeniable when the assets we choose experience a downturn like now. In this case, we must be prepared to accept market volatility as part of our investment and, indeed, it's best to focus on a medium term strategy and be patient in managing it all. It's best not to make the mistake of choosing assets based on hype, as this can lead to significant losses. We never know for sure when the increase will occur many factors influence a coin price. So, if profits have matched our initial predictions, it's best to make a decisive decision to sell your assets. Avoid greed or procrastination. Holding onto these assets for much longer will create a dilemma if profits continue to decline over time.

Happy new year all hopefully 2026 is a lot better for us as 2025 was awful.

Been a good start to the year but the problem we have had since the October 10th crash is that it feels no pump will last. Bitcoin has hit $91k for the first time in 3 weeks but can it push forward or will it come crashing down again?

Now that the 4 year cycle is over I have no idea what the next few months have in store but we have been in a bear market since that October 10 crash so that’s almost 3 months now. If we are in a bear market then I don’t think it will be as long as previous bear markets with more rate cuts and QE coming.

My portfolio was -24% last week, it is currently -15% so bit of a recovery but nowhere near enough yet.

I will continue to just hold and buy on the dips.

I think that's why we have to be careful in choosing the Altcoins that we keep for the long term by looking at all aspects and possibilities and of course there will always be some worry and that's very normal, even in all the investments we make there will be that feeling when the asset value decreases. And I think there are several things that can minimize that and the most important thing is self-confidence in the choices we have made.

Not much to update really, haven't bought much as im not sure if we will go up or down in the short term. I think it could be a slow January/ February.

I feel like the second half of the year may be OK as we have QE and more rate cuts expected but next few months feel we could see Bitcoin in and around $70k with everything going on in the world right now all the uncertainty no one wants to invest in risky assets like crypto which is why i feel we are seeing Gold and silver doing well as they are more secure.

I am just holding mainly and buying on the dips, bought a few yesterday as they went down quite a lot.

It seems your porto is going down even deeper right. I've been warned you to cutloss it, but it's too late. It seems your only choice is to believe in your portfolios for long term. Based on my TA, this year is gonna be the worst year for crypto especially alts. I hope you're ready when that moment is coming.

BTC looks so bearish, and it will go down to 75k - 74k, then bounced a bit. This is still the beginning.

One thing that is a strong signal that bear market is over or soon over, is when newbs (who haven't experienced one true bear cycle) like you, who have tried to shill Trump coin and Ripple, finally all declare that we are in the bear market. And no offence, i have been there as well. Now you, and many other newbs are starting to be uncertain, so that would tell me we are probably half way down already. If i only trusted that signal that is.

Just out of curiosity, how do you define bear market if it's not been happening for a while now? What metrics you are looking at?

Personally i am waiting at least to Christmas until i start really buying.

I feel this is a bear market, but I don’t think it will last as long as previous bear markets. Times have changed, we saw a bitcoin all time high before the halving last cycle, that didn’t happen in the previous cycle. And if u still believe in the standard 4 year cycle then last year should have been a green year but it wasn’t it was red so that’s another difference to previous cycles.

I have no idea how long this bear market will last, but if does last another 3-6 months then fine, I will buy low again like I did last bear market. I didn’t think I would see these current prices we are now seeing today for many alts, and if they all 10-20x from here in the next year or so then we have to look at this as an opportunity.

I am frustrated we didn’t see more of a bull run for alts, but I had a few winners which is why my portfolio isn’t down 80% like many others are.

I was tempted to buy some more today, but I do think bitcoin will go down to at least $72k soon so will buy more around then.

There are some altcoins you will be holding for long term, it will bring disappointment to you in the future because it will continue decreasing until it disappear from the market to cause majority of their customers to experience losses, there  are some altcoins you will be holding for long you don't need to fear even though the market is showing red sign in the market because those altcoins use to increase whenever bitcoin price is increasing, and they are among the profitable altcoins in the market, I'm use to etherium and Solana which is my favorite altcoins, this is over some years now I have being making income from those altcoins because I don't like to hold altcoin for long term but am use to short term holding before I can trade to earn suitable income.

Feels like a long time ago when i first posted that, over 18 months now.

We hoped we would get altseason, we didnt with only a few alts moving but maybe that is just how its going to be now going forward.

I am still holding my alts, some are up , more are down but it is not a lot of money invested at least and I can just hold until good times return. The problem we have is we dont know when that will be, could be a few months or might not be till end of year.

"Times have changed" is something everyone say every year. But have they though? Only thing that has seemingly brought along is more liquidity, hence less fluctuation in markets.

And it doesn't need to be exactly timed, and your guess is as good as mine, and you might gets some gains with some black horse, but picking the right one isn't likely.
But i know that this isn't the time to invest for me.

Personally i am looking at bitcoin. Simplified version: When it hits bottom and starts to rise, i am not buying alts, because money is still going to btc instead of them, and they are are likely dropping like flies with btc gaining trust, because it takes time for them to get market confidence is back. So i am confident that bear market of altcoins in general is longer than with btc.

So i am waiting for a year or over, and look when bitcoin starts to stabilize and grow, then wait as long as needed before buying any alts. And some of them (even the big ones), will not be part of the bull run anyway.
